I tried to get into high point at 1:20am to meet up with my friends that I haven't seen in a long time. They wouldn't let me in even though I was by myself and the bar wasn't that full. The bouncer kept telling me they were at "capacity" even though it wasn't that full. They said they were closing in 5 minutes but their website says that they close at 2pm. Bouncer was rude and you should fire him (short, brunette, scruffy beard, asshole). read more

High Point is a classic Fort Collins bar: it's in a great old building with TONS of character, but at heart, it's also easygoing, friendly, and makes killer drinks. They have an incredible back patio with darts and a good amount of seating, or you can just chill by the fireplace in some wonderfully comfy couches. Andy, one of the bartenders there, is particularly awesome! Check out the converted bank vault, which is a quieter space on busy nights. This place is one of my favorite bars in Fort Collins. My partner and I had been on the hunt for the elusive "citywide special" ($5 pint and a whiskey) for a while before finding this place. $2 PBR drafts every day, plus daily drink specials (which you can find on their website which is nice). They also have really interesting metal tavern puzzles you can play with! I've never seen that at a bar before and I found them highly amusing. I haven't tried the food but they seem to have a decent menu. It hasn't been very crowded when we've been there on weekend nights, and there are plenty of cozy places to sit. Walking down the street and saw a sign for $4.50 pulled pork sandwiches. What started as just wanting a cheap sandwich turned into finding a chill bar in the heart of Old Town. They have an open-air patio out back where we ate dinner on a nice evening. For $4.50, you get a decent sized sandwich with good tasting BBQ sauce. Better yet, the bun they serve it on was delicious. Think home-made tasting buns like grandma makes. The fries were well-seasoned and were equally good. The bartender that waited on us was a down-to-earth guy who was attentive and expedient. The menu indicated their daily drink and happy hour specials. The prices seemed very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a chill place to grab a drink and watch a game, for anyone just looking for traditional American pub food, or for anyone looking for good happy hour specials. read more
