Had an excellent day on the water with instructor Angel today! There were four in our group, two adults and two children. Angel did an awesome job explaining the techniques and how to stay safe in the water. In all of our photos and videos you can see him cheering on the surfer, he was especially great with the kids. We had a great time. Brian taught us the inportance of staying connected and took safety seriously. We spemt some time learning the ropes on land and then we attempted the water. People who didn't swim began to relax in the water. We learned in a sandbar so falling in waist deep water built confidence. Mari was awesome as well. I have profound respect for surfers. My 16 yo and 13 yo wanted to learn to surf while on vacation and Surfing Puerto Rico got great reviews! We were not disappointed. The kids loved it! They learned and were able to get up on a good amount of waves. THIS is the place to learn they are engaging, respectful, and really love what hey do!!! Don't pass this up. My husband and I and our oldest hung out on the beach and swam and took pictures while the younger 2 had lessons. Awesome experience. Don't forget to buy a fresh cut coconut after the lesson to quench your thirst! A few men chop down the coconuts right on the beach and sell them for you to drink. read more

My daughter and I just took one surfing session with Brian, our surfing instructor and I'm gonna get 5 more classes for both of us. My kid started surfing from the start (She say's is because she's in ballet). Brian and the other instructors are very professional, they're very well equipped and set up perfectly. And this beach has excellent places to eat and drink, so you can stay till sun down right there and have a very awesome day. I've lived all my life in Puerto Rico and never surfed on a board, I have boogie boarded a lot before. And this very beach (La Pared, Luquillo) is where I was taught to boogie board by my neighbor when I was about 10, because back then he told me that this was the best beach to learn to surf and boogie board. Wow!! How to start the review.... this was our second time coming to PuertoRico. I can't even imagine coming and not surfing with Brian and April. Our first time last year was unbelievable! Our boys 9 & 11 did not stop talking about how cool Brian was and how amazing surfing was with him. They have since surfed in Canada and in Los Angeles and they still only talk about surfing in PR with Brian and April. Best excursion we've done! My husband decided to surprise the kids with surfing lessons while on our trip. Brian was phenomenal, I literally cannot day enough good things about him and his whole crew. He made every person in the group feel important and accomplished. My famly decided to do surf lessons since we were rained out of the rainforest (go figure). My 3 kids were pretty excited. I could not be happier with the experience. Thier ages were 14, 11, and 6. Brian and John were so kind and helpful. When someone has a love and passion for what they do, it is evident. Brian loves teaching and is so motivational and encouraging. Being from California, I had tried surfing before, and never thought I could learn it - I never had any luck getting up on a board before and catching waves. Brian changed all that. Within a two-hour lesson, I got up at least ten times. Luquillo has a fantastic beach break that makes it really easy to catch waves, and they are not too big and intimidating. It was a great experience. Brian instinctively understands people's fears and mental blocks, and gives the right balance of gentle push/encouragement and praise. He is fantastic as a teacher. Dear Mr. Ortiz, I just wanted to share with you how incredible our day surfing with Brian, April and Eduardo was. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome from Eduardo. He introduced himself to us and our boys Sasha (10) and Jude (8) and explained that Brian would be there shortly to get the lessons started. Our boys were so excited that keeping them out of the water was tough while we waited. Eduardo joined us on the beach and asked lots of questions about our boys. He explained the surfing lesson a bit and assured us that even with the rough waves the kids would be safe. Then came the time for the lesson to begin. Brian....... what can I say? He's amazing with the boys as well as explained everything they needed to know in a manner they could understand. He kept the other participants (all adults) in the loop, without forgetting the 2 young boys. Once they were all headed to the water here comes the amazing April! She was so great with our boys. Helping them with the boards, teaching and guiding them to really get how to stand up and balance. Her patience and kindness was very reassuring. My boys both were up and riding their first waves! This was only the beginning for them. Jude spends everyday discussing how he is going to surf back home in Los Angeles, Ca. SO MUCH FUN and Brian is such a great teacher. I (almost) felt like a pro surfer when the session was over! I'm glad we went on our first day in PR as we had such a great time we are likely going to schedule a second lesson!!! Brian and the rest of the crew were very personable , and made my fiancé and I feel very comfortable and safe in the water. He also mentioned he does surfing classes for children with autism on Saturdays which spiked our interest as our 4 year old son is diagnosed ASD. All around we had a great time, we got to ride 4 ft waves and hang out and learn the basics of surfing . They also took pictures which we were told will be emailed to us in 7-10 days and some of the instructors actually took pictures on our Go pro for us as well ! Loved . It. We are from Alabama and we were on a cruise. I decided to find our own excursion. Really great experience! I rented a car and we drove to Luquillo. It's about a 45 minute drive from the cruise dock. Hertz has a pick location right across the street from the port. Well worth it as we got to see other parts of PR, the surfing was just right for myself and my 9 and 11 year old kids and Brian was the best. Waves were not too big yet they were big enough to ride. Brian the owner is passionate about teaching which we needed as it was our first time. We got up within our first couple tries and by the end my kids we doing some tricks. Big thumbs up! read more

Brian is an amazing instructor! My friend and I had a lesson with him with barely any surfing experience, and he got us up and riding with no problem by the end of the session! He is so knowledgeable and professional. You even get free photos of your experience, and water and snacks during the break! They also have rash guards for sale when you get there if you need one.
