From that point on, it doesn't cost you anything unless you choose to spend money. It's a short walk from the parking lot to the beach. We had gotten there early, and decided to rent an umbrella and a pair of lounge chairs, which cost us $35 for the day. Considering we ended up spending nearly 7 hours on the beach, it was definitely worth the purchase price. The beach is gorgeous, and the water is rock free. It did get quite busy, but we actually enjoyed the people watching. There are vendors that walk up and down the beach, selling ice, creams and drinks, but there are also little Kioskos on the property that you can walk to easily to order hot food. At the one we visited, we got delicious slushy's, Pinchos, and empanadillas that were all delicious. We had a great time, and would absolutely go back in a heartbeat! When you leave the gated parking lot, you are literally around the corner from the Luquillo kioskos if you want to hit them up for shopping or dinner after your beach day. Makes things super convenient!

The road is right up on the beach so the shore is not very deep. There is parallel street parking along the road and a large lot at the east end of the beach. Since we were there for Christmas, there were a couple of trees that were decorated that made for a great photo op background. There are people walking up and down the sidewalk along the beach so it was easy to find someone to take our picture. There is also a nice grass area lining the street so people were picnicing, etc.

My lesson started with a thorough but succinct description of wind-theory as well as safety systems and setting up the kite. After learning some supervised basic kite handling skills on the beach, we moved into the water immediately to do some body dragging and some water safety lessons on how to deal with problems in the water and how to re-launch the kite when it falls. Later, we moved on to board skills and getting up on the water and Kiteboarding. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson and my progress was very quick. Since then, I have been able to handle a lot of situations on my own that I see other beginning kite-boarders struggle with. In addition to my very effective, professional, and efficient lessons, I have since visited San Juan for Kiteboarding many times. Juan Carlos has always been very generous with his Kiteboarding skills and gear advice. From the moment we boarded, the crew was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and genuinely caring. They were especially great with those in our group who quickly discovered they did not quite have their sea legs. We had quite a few victims of seasickness onboard, and the crew handled it all with patience, humor, and compassion, making sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of. Once you get past the ride out there, it is nothing but smooth sailing, beautiful scenery, great music, and a really fun atmosphere. The drinks kept flowing throughout the day, and the lunch, while simple, was surprisingly delicious and exactly what we needed after spending time swimming and enjoying the water. The plan was to visit Culebra…read more We had a great 40 minute bus ride from Condado to the Fajardo Safe Harbor for a pleasure boat ride for 20 post wedding guests. We arrived on time and we were warmly greeted by the captain and 2 crew. After a basic safety briefing we charted out towards Culebra in overcast weather. Instead of Culebra we settled on the uninhabited beach of Caya Luis Pena before Culebra with crystal clear waters in about 20 minutes. The waters were translucent clear turquoise and beach sand was pristine. Water temp was around 79-80F. Weather was overcast and comfortably cool. They laid out a simple light sandwich buffet for lunch with beers and tropical cocktails. Snorkeling, swimming and relaxing for a few hours, we spotted small schools of fish and a very cool bachelor Stingray circling looking for scraps. Crew was incredibly friendly and helpful and everyone enjoyed the short beach visit. The return trip was much smoother and after jumping back on the bus we were able to stop by a bbq joint for coconuts and fried stuffed empanadas.
