We booked a Guided Snorkel Tour through the Viator travel app with Try Scuba Diving Puerto Rico and had such an awesome time! Upon arrival at Batería del Escambrón (the meeting point) we waited around for our group to arrive. We knew no one else on the tour but I believe there 20 some of us? Once everyone was there we spent about 15 minutes talking about safety and best practices and we split into smaller groups of 5 or 6 with a tour guide for each smaller group and started passing out equipment. We didn't need to bring anything other than ourselves and a towel. Personal items were placed in bins supervised during our swim. Once in the water we took some time to get comfortable and off we went in our groups. I found the water a bit choppy and my mask was leaking a bit due to the seal, facial hair, or some combination. I made do and had fun exploring. We saw all kinds of different fish and other aquatic life. My favorite was the turtles. We were provided the videos and pictures our guide took of us on the tour which was really nice and we didn't have to worry about losing or damaging phones or cameras. Gratuities are not included and they do strongly remind you of that and mention that is how they support their familes. A little push and reminder for the groups but I was planning to tip anyway. Especially since all gear and equipment were included and the overall price for two of us was $118.00. We had so much fun even with the water being a bit rough. Our guide, Matt, was really great! First time booking through Viator and was really an easy booking experience. You can find them on Instagram @tryscubadivingpr and their website is www.tryscubadiving.com.

Hey everyone So I came to San Juan for my birthday weekend and I had so much fun snorkeling today with our host Sebastian. Booking was very easy to do. You had to park and walk over which was ok for us. They provide you with the gear to snorkel. My host was very informative and personable. We were able to see the turtles and various fish. I'm addition, we were able to find a starfish hiding around. Sebastian took video and photos for us. We received them right after we were finished. It lasted about an hour. We had so much fun I would do it again. Off to our next destination for the day. Thank you for a great excursion.

An Unforgettable Journey into the Blue with San Juan Guided Snorkel Tour (Un viaje inolvidable hacia el azul con el Tour English above (El español está abajo.) If I could give the San Juan Guided Snorkel Tour more than five stars, I absolutely would. This private snorkeling excursion, nestled off the breathtaking coast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, was the highlight of our vacation and an experience my group and I will forever cherish. From the get-go, we were put at ease with a comprehensive pre-departure lesson. Even as first-time snorkelers, we were well-equipped to navigate the rich underwater ecosystems of San Juan, thanks to the attentive guidance of our instructor. The equipment provided was top-notch, making our adventure all the more enjoyable. But the true jewel in the crown was our tour guide, Jared. His expertise, charisma, and patience truly set the tone for the day. From pointing out the delicate marine life to explaining their role in the ecosystem, Jared's knowledge deepened our appreciation for the underwater world. He was more than happy to answer questions, making the whole experience interactive and educational. Jared's patience and skill in teaching us how to snorkel was commendable. He took the time to ensure we all felt safe and comfortable, while ensuring we were having a good time. His passion for marine life was contagious and his guidance was like a gentle hand leading us through a mesmerizing underwater dance. One of the standout features of this tour was the complimentary GoPro video. What a wonderful way to commemorate this extraordinary adventure! The images Jared captured were nothing short of stunning - vibrant coral reefs, tropical fish darting through the blue, and our beaming faces as we swam through this underwater paradise. These will serve as beautiful reminders of our time in San Juan. In conclusion, the San Juan Guided Snorkel Tour is more than just an excursion; it's a journey into the mesmerizing depths of Puerto Rico's marine life, guided by an outstanding professional. Whether you're a seasoned snorkeler or it's your first time, Jared and his team will ensure you have an unforgettable experience. So, dive in, and let San Juan Guided Snorkel Tours show you the wonders hidden beneath the waves!

Highly recommend! My sister and I decided to do this snorkeling excursion on our last day literally before our flight and it was such a good decision! We had an amazing time on the snorkeling excursion because Abdiel, Eric and Elizabeth were the perfect hosts! We got to swim with beautiful fish, a sea turtle, navigated to a sunken bridge and more. At the end we received some great videos and pictures of our snorkeling experience (included in the price). From the 1st confirmation call to our goodbyes everything was perfection!! We can not wait to go back because we will be doing this again and recommending to friends and family when they visit! Thank you Try Scuba - San Juan for being the icing on our vacation cake!

Our tour was great, we had Ile (I think that's how you spell it). We only spoke English but that was fine for them. We had plenty of time out in the water Make sure you eat something beforehand- i did get a little seasick at the end and my partner got really tired from kicking and swimming. Make sure to get some ice cream from the cart when you're done! It's local and delicious

Booked a Mermaid experience for my wife while we were in Puerto Rico. Booked through my Marriott app and wish I had not book through them and straight with the five shop as the Marriott made me book two (I was not going to be wearing a fin singing "under the sea"). As for the experience 5 star service! As we walk towards the building, we were immediately greeted, as you are everywhere you go in PR. Elizabeth introduced herself to us and took everything from there. Though the weather was a bit gloomy, Elizabeth did he best to capture the best photos. Even retaking photos when the sun would come up periodically. She even incorporated me in! Still no fun though lol Overall amazing experience! Book with this company stress free!

Felt very safe going on the Ocean with Matt. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. I loved that he explained everything for us. We had the luck of seeing 3 sea turtles and he took very lovely pictures for us that he gave us at the end of the tour. I would recommend this tour it did not disappoint.

    How we started
    Ruthie S.

I am not a strong swimmer, however, I had a good time. We started with four and ended with two. The guide was straight forward, got us settled and comfortable being in the water with the snorkeling gear (which is sanitized at the end of your session. There were many fish to see, along with turtles, ma made reef, and a manatee (we missed that one).. You are paired with a water buddy and the guide checks in the group often. The only ones left behind are the ones sitting on the shore watching and asking "how was it?"

My husband and I had a great time on our snorkeling tour with our guide, Ile! We saw a bunch of sea turtles, fish, and even some sea urchin. Ile took a bunch of pictures and made sure to send them to us before we left. Highly recommend!

My aunt daughter and myself went to snorkel with the sea turtles. We had an outstanding time. At first I was very nervous but the instructions by Luis were very good and made the experience even more enjoyable. Wish we had more time to do this again, I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Alec was our guide as we explored the protected cove. He was engaging, helpful, and worked hard to make sure we saw everything of interest. We saw sea turtles, an underwater house (from Hurricane Maria), a collapsed bridge (from the same), a sea urchin, a sea worm, schools of fish, a feather duster, a lion fish, crabs, a lobster, and lots of other sea life and man made stuff at the bottom. He took photos and videos, then air dropped them to me at the end. This is an exceptional experience you should prioritize if you're in San Juan.

My husband and I are still raving about how much we enjoyed our scuba diving experience! As a non-swimmer (took lessons as a kid, can do basic things, not confident though), I was surprised to find this experience and to have an option for non swimmers. I was worried at first since not only am I not confident at swimming, but I also have never done snorkeling before for that reason. I was elated they have instructors like Elizabeth there to make the experience comfortable, easy for newbies, and to not miss out on anything. My husband (who was a lifeguard and skilled down to be with me) and I got to see three sea turtles, lots of fish, and even a puffer fish. The amount you see depends on the weather and water conditions, so we got lucky on the date and time we picked! It took some time to get used to the equipment but Elizabeth made sure I was good to go and I was impressed with myself for lasting the whole hour out there snorkeling. This group is also knowledgeable and conscious of the conservation efforts to protect animals and nature which my husband and I greatly appreciated. The marine park is also just a beautiful location to be in afterwards to relax and enjoy the waves. We absolutely recommend this experience and will do it again next time we're in Puerto Rico!

This is the bay you are snorkeling in.

Joshua (our instructor) was awesome. Very attentive and informative. Whether you are a beginner or have experience with snorkeling, it's a must. We saw lots of fish and sea turtles. The area you go in is a small bay but lots to see. Joshua took several pictures and videos for free. I would recommend getting your own action camera to get more videos/pictures. We will be back!

As long as 15 people are on the tour, they will take you to your Calebra. If less than 15 you stay local! There were well over 15 so we were able to tour Calebra. It was so beautiful! Once you get there, they pick you up on a ferry to take you to the boat . The boat travels for about an hour before getting to a private island and that is where you get the guided snorkeling or diving tour depending on what you selected! My friends and I did the snorkeling. As someone who can't swim (I know I know lol) I had a great time. The tour guides were very informative and helpful for all ages and swim levels. They do provide fruit, cold cut sandwiches and rum punch and when you stop . If you're looking for a "party" boat then this may not be for you. Don't expect lots of liquor and twerking etc it's a family type tour, Some of my friends were a bit disappointed by the price expecting that we'd stop somewhere that had a bar and restaurant but it was just a private island (we're in our high 20s low 30s). So idk I think it depends on your expectations but I was okay with everything and the service was great!

The shop also gets a kick back from Padi as work since it makes u select a dive shop where ur course work is sent to. Once we complete the course work, we each reached out to the dive shop about 2 - 1 1/2 weeks in advance to schedule the dates and times for the water sessions. We did not receive any type of response back from the shop. We attempted to message on whatsup as requested but still did not receive a confirmation or any type of communication. We called down to the shop, where we were told to just text them. We again tried to text the shop but did not receive any response. We flew to San Juan and arrived and immediately went to the shop, we were told to text them and they would get back to us.. we asked directly if they had availability and we were told they would check and get back to us via text.... A day goes by, we attempt to call and no response.. fully we get a text saying they are fully committed...... This was without doubt the worst type of un-reliable customer service and a refusal to communicate.. I would not trust this dive shop or operation. They should never have told us to use to do the course work with their shop and then refuse to complete our certification. Luckily Scuba Dogs next door came to our rescue when we told them about the horrible customer service we received. Just be aware this shop will not be reliable.

What I like about this beach is that they put up a long row of rocks to break the strong waves. So, you can go out really far and the water is not deep. You can more wade in the water or float. I came during hurricane season, so there were some strong waves crashing, but luckily the rocks kept things safe. I did not notice any restaurants, food stands, nor people selling anything. After walking up and down the hills of Old San Juan, my husband and I decided to take an Uber over to a beach that had come highly raved about. Our driver dropped us off outside of a stadium entrance, next to a hotel that I presume was badly damaged during one of the storms and left to decline. Our walk felt like that of one from a zombie movie, but we saw others who had clearly been in the water, so we kept trucking. When we reached the opening to the water by the scuba rental booth, all we found was a small slip of sand onto the clear blue waters that could sit maybe 10 people comfortably with chairs and towels. There was already a large group both in and out of the water, so we continued to walk as we felt there had to be more. We walked around for a bit, trying to locate more beach, and found an inlet of palm trees swaying in the winds coming off of the water. No beach in sight. It wasn't until we left exhausted from our sightseeing and wandering that we found an aerial view that showed the beach to be about another quarter to half mile away from the farthest point we had reached. Water was beautiful, and seeing pictures from others who made it to the beach is so nice, however accessibility for this beach was a huge bummer.

They gave us instructions for snorkeling, and helped everyone to securely fasten their gear. We stopped at three spots for snorkeling. The first one were very close to Icacos Island, which was deliberately in a shallow area, so first time snorkelers like me can get some practice before going into deeper waters. The other two spots we stopped were in the middle of the ocean, among the reefs and vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea. Herbert, an experienced diver that guided our tour, dove down and flipped lots of rocks and caught little star fish, urchins, shrimps, crabs and other interesting creatures for us to see. It was amazing, and something I couldn't have done if I were on my own. Snorkeling is such an easy sport, even though I've only swan in water parks before, I find it easy to swim the sea with no problem. Lunch was prepared by them, with cold cuts, cheese and sandwich bread. I'm not a fan of these type of food, but I didn't expect hand pulled noodles in the middle of the sea either. Food was not the point of this trip anyway. If you don't like these food, you can always bring snacks and just put them in the cabin downstairs. In the end, we sailed by this small piece of land and saw iguanas climbing up the trees. It was really nice. I learned about this tour rather late, so I didn't meet the book online window (at least 12 hours ahead), had to call in and make reservation. I would recommend everyone taking advantage of their online booking system, it is real-time and you get $10 off.
