I had a shower floor refinished a month ago. Nick did a fabulous job. The floor looks ten times better than it was before. In addition, Nick found some water behind the shower tiles. He removed the caulk and left a fan blowing overnight to remove the moisture, then he re-caulked. It took him an extra visit to do this, and he charged me only for the cost of the caulk, no extra labor. I give Surface Specialists my highest recommendation. read more

Update: I think the company is gone? No reply, warranty, etc. Don't use them for any service! Initial review: We had them refinish our tubs but they started cracking days after the install. We waited 3 days before use, when they only mentioned to wait 24 hours. Nick Roos did our bathtubs, and it looked great at first. He mentioned there is a 5 year warranty and to just let them know if there are issues. The two bathtubs were finished 9/25/18. on 10/1/18 (few days later), I noticed it start to crack (see image attached). After installation, I did as they asked - not use the tub for 24h at least. We didn't use it for 3 days to be safe. I reached out today (7/30/19), so when I hear back from them I'll update this review, depending on how they respond and potentially resolve this issue. Sucks that the finish job cracks after just a few days. Now, months later, the damage is terrible and thus the reason for reaching out to them. I figured, 5 years warranty, no biggie... but we'll see on how they back that warranty up. 8/10/19 - Still not a single response. Hopefully they do back their warranty up. Five stars is not something I give regularly. It's sort of like saying "I Love You" or "Thank You For Your Service" too much, it loses its meaning when you just hand them out willy nilly. However, Surface Specialists deserves 5 stars. I'm beyond impressed with the service and the end result. Nick was awesome to work with and cleaned up everything when he was done. He even offered to come back to do a free touch up when my plumber removes the tub drain plug that he was unable to remove. He also did an expert job of re-caulking the tub afterwards and fixed a few minor little dings that this poor ugly old tub had. It looks like a brand new tub! My tile guys were so impressed I gave them Nicks number because they not only had two people who immediately need this (and he's been trying to find a good refinisher) but he gets requests all the time. It's a pleasure to recommend someone you really like, who does a good job and seems trustworthy! Word to the wise: no matter how much they vent the bathroom via your built in fan and their industrial one you better just stay WELL away from the area being refinished. Suface Specialists came out and repaired a three inch crack in our brand new tub. They made it look like smooth and the color matched perfectly! It looked new, and you can't tell there was even a crack. It took him no time at all to fix it! The owner, Nicholas also spotted another problem with an "improvised" custom made shelf that was built on to the edgeof the tub, since there is about six inches between the tub and the wall. And the workmanship (or lack of), had caused water to leak and seep into the construction of the shelf.. (Surface Specialists, don't build shelves, but the owner spent time enough to show me the issue with it and the best way to get it repaired). I had my bathtub refinished and LOVE IT! I shopped around a bit and settled on Surface Specialists for low pricing, being independent, and being family owned. The lady was very friendly when I booked and helped me decide to add the free upgrade of a non slip surface (YES, DO IT!) The tub looks great. The non slip adds a bit of grit to the bottom so my kids sit on wash cloths to protect their bums but it is way worth it. I would have given 5 stars if they would have left cleaning and maintenance instructions (I requested and received them via email) and if they would have gone the extra mile and re-caulked my aging soap dish. I realize I could have asked for this but wasn't home to greet them and didn't realize how gnarly the caulk was until I saw my sparkling white tub. I believe the last refinishing company offered that as a courtesy. Overall I'm very pleased. Now that I know how to properly care for the surface I hope it to last years. They do include a warranty which is a good testament to their work. The tub looked brand new. Then my handy man dropped a scraper from ceiling height and chipped the tub all the way down to the black metal. I called nick back. I had phoned several companies who were unable to work within my timeline or could not provide the services I wanted (in addition to having the interior reglazed, I wanted the exterior painted).
