32 oz smoothie with strawberries, pineapples, and peaches
    Savannah R.

I visited Surf City Squeeze at the Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord, CA on Friday, 3/29/24, around 11 AM. I decided to customize my smoothie by including strawberries, pineapples, and peaches. I requested for the drink to be prepared thick in consistency. The smoothie was blended to perfection; it was truly refreshing and delicious. The customer service was quick and pleasant. The smoothie bar was easy to find inside the shopping center. I recommend coming here.

Tried this place for the first time. It was delicious. I tried 4 different smoothies: Kale, Pineapple coconut, banana with boba, and a strawberry one. Each one was its own unique flavor. I can't believe this place is only in the mall. We need one on each corner.

My favorite smoothie place of all times. I have been going here since I was in middle school. Located in the Sun Valley Mall, right below the escalator on the JC Penny side. All the employees were wearing their masks and they implemented more plexiglass around the area to promote for more safety measures. My favorite go to drink is the Strawberry Banana smoothie. Sometimes I add Kale if I want to get more healthy with it, but this time I wanted to try their traditional flavor combo. The smoothie was ice cold and had the right amount of thickness to it. I do notice a difference from time to time, but they are more or less consistent with how it is made. Whenever Mrs. Kim is working, she always helps make my drink for me and she does it the absolute best. Overall, I will always go back here. My go to spot for a smoothie.

Milk green tea with boba- more like milk green tea slush with boba

They said they have milk green tea boba, but it was more like a slushie and smoothie. I understand that's what they specialize in but I was hoping for you know the normal kind. I prefer their Oreo smoothie to their milk tea. If I really am in a need for something super sweet then that's what I aim for. I also make sure to ask for extra Oreos because I feel that without the extra Oreos the smoothie doesn't taste that good. I've had one of their "healthy" drinks before. I believe the ingredients were kale, spinach, and some fruit. It was pretty good although I'm not sure how much sugar was added. The service I've received here has been on and off. Some days I've been attended to right away on a slow day and fast day, and other times I've felt like I was ignored. If you like something sweet and cool than go here. I wouldn't for the milk tea. 3/5

Lately, I've been on this non-stop smoothie hype. Not sure if it's because it's so dayum HAWT over here in the East Bay, but I've found myself drinking smoothies multiple times per week. The culprit? Well, there are a few places that I go to get my fix. However, Surf City Squeeze has been happily feeding my current smoothie addiction as of late. FIRST of all... whoever created that Kale Smoothie needs to be hugged and slapped all at the same damn time. Hugs for that absolutely delicious concoction, and slaps for contributing to my addiction which in turn drains my poor little wallet. But hey... it's good so I'll pay up and slurp it up. Everything about these smoothies are the bidness! The quality, the consistency, the sweetness, the taste. They're just peeeerfect and I love 'em! I never have to wait in a super long line and the staff is always cordial. They make SAMPLES! And thank Gaaawd because I probably wouldn't have tried their kale smoothie so soon if it wasn't for me sampling it first. It's located on the second level of the Sunvalley Mall, so I wouldn't really call it "convenient" per say. But, it's a great way to cool down after walking around in the mall all day. But I'm gonna be honest... sometimes I drive all the way to this mall JUST for those smoothies. Yep, that's how hooked I am now. The prices are steep... but then again, what smoothie place do you know of that isn't? Even Jamba is gettin' up there in price. I think the difference is truly that the quality is top notch. I like my smoothies super sweet and fruity, and Surf City always comes through when it comes to that. Their size to price ratio is pretty fair as well. All in all, it's an excellent spot to grab a yummilicious smoothie, especially while hanging around in the mall. If you haven't tried their Kale smoothie yet, you need to get it and thank me later!

Had the Thai milk tea here, only option was the slush kind. Drink was mediocre, didn't taste authentic, might be powder. Boba was soft though. Didn't enjoy it that much, most likely not going to get it again. They had samples put for the fruit smoothies, and those tasted delicious! It was a kale smoothie with a bunch of fruits. I would probably come back here for the fruit smoothies and not the bobas.

My husband arrived around 8:10 AM, after the store's posted opening time of 8:00 AM, only to find the business completely closed with no communication whatsoever. No call. No email. No cancellation notice. Nothing. What followed was somehow worse. I called the store multiple times throughout the day and left several voicemails that were never returned. I also emailed both the location and corporate customer service and received no response. Corporate didn't answer their phones either. All of this over a $35 order that the business happily charged for but never fulfilled. Today, I went into the store in person to ask for a refund and was met with attitude and defensiveness from the manager instead of accountability or even a simple apology. I was told they "do answer their phones" despite my multiple unanswered calls and voicemails. I was then told they could not issue a refund because it had been "more than two days," even though the delay was entirely caused by their complete lack of response and failure to handle the issue. The store being unexpectedly closed is frustrating enough. Ignoring customers afterward and then treating them poorly when they ask for their money back is unacceptable. I'm still waiting to hear from the "other manager" or "boss" who is supposedly able to process my refund. Who apparently already had my information but was "too busy" to respond to me sooner. Give me a break. At this point, it's not even about the $35. It's about the complete lack of professionalism, communication, and basic customer service.

Person at the door was responsible crowd control - keeping it to 10 people max in the store. The smoothie makers were bringing out trayfuls of smoothies to a counter to the side. After ordering, we took our receipt and picked up our smoothies at the counter. The employees were running a well-oiled machine to get quickly through the long line of people. Very impressed. The smoothies themselves - extremely good for $1. If I had to pay full price on these (my real opinion), I thought the Mango was very good, but a little on the sweet and runny side. The strawberry was a little lacking in flavor (almost no strawberry, a little banana) and too icy. After drinking two of them halfway, we combined to make a half mango/half strawberry, which turned out really well.

I started going to Jamba Juice when they first moved into the Crescent Ave location in Pleasant Hill, when I was still attending the Teen Scene in Pleasant Hill Park. It's certainly been a minute since those days, and while I've been to this location three times this year, I don't know why I keep coming back. I think I'm searching for something that no longer exists - a reasonably-priced, fruit-packed meal in a cup. It feels like each time I go to 'Jamba' (now ostensibly not a Juice place), the menu looks more and more like a fast-food dessert menu - which I'd have no problem with if I weren't wanting the good old Jamba Juice of yore. I'm now finding myself browsing smoothie recipes on the Internet, ready to dust off the blender. If you're in a pinch with the kids & need a quick sugar fix, Jamba will cut it. If you're looking for relative health, ditch the waffle-whip bowls & stay home.

I assume it's true because their cup sizing has changed which I'm sadly disappointed. It's more open space/spacious and I had to create a new rewards account. Drink menu names changed slightly on kiosk and on the wall. They don't have that tacky shelf with plush, stuff, Knick knacks, for sale anymore. Drink still good, I don't think recipe has changed. I heard, then seen it for myself, the instagram post and stories shared by friends, of people dancing and partying at the shop late nights after hours. Then when I went in, also still had the sign up that said they did dance concert or hosted DJ nights at the shop. But Im also assuming it was under the old management and they must've got caught something doing something illegal or something they weren't suppose to be doing. The minus one star is for the cup sizing. Bring it back! Main reason why I love coming here, a good price for big cup size. Now it's like every other boba shop. Which is fine, but I won't go out of my way to come get boba here like I used to.

This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.
