The tall male employee looked us up and down and said so, you gonna buy some coffee? Husband said yes...why? The employee said "I just need to know if you're planning on buying something or just here to use the restroom . " Why would we come up to the counter , peruse the menu and bring the baby inside if that was our only goal? It was so off-putting. I got a 5G is killing our bees which was nice and smooth flavored espresso drink and husband tried the NZT 49 which he liked. but only thing is we regretted not trying a black cold brew or shot of espresso to really taste their coffee. This space has such a positive atmosphere and the workers always being giddy behind the bar make the space even better! They've also always been incredibly sweet to my daughter whenever we come in. I obviously can't speak to someone else's experience, but I really doubt anyone was laughing at you personally, it very easily could have just been an unrelated conversation happening behind the counter. I've only ever had positive experiences here and think the staff deserves some credit for creating such a joyful environment in a world where we are often told not to!

Deep rich flavor with no bitterness. Absolutely delicious without sugar or cream. Organic, so no chemicals added either. I love Guatamala Dark Organic so much I brought a 10# bag to Australia with me on an extended visit (yes, they thought I was nuts). I no longer live in Santa Cruz, but I still order it by mail. If you like rich dark coffee, gotta give this one a try!!
