35+ years I have been spending my pennies in this establishment. It's the BEST SHOP IN NORCAL hands down. I bought my first deck from them 35+ years ago. It's the BEST money spent because you can trust this shop gear and guidance. It's not about profit it's about loyalty and customer appreciation when you walk in the door. After 20 years of not skateboarding, I decided to pickup skateboarding again. I stopped in Surf and Skate on Thursday April 30th to purchase a skateboard. I was greeted by Sonny as soon as I walked in who was super cheerful and eager to help me. I wanted to build my own board instead of buying a complete one like how I did when I was younger. Sonny was really helpful and knowledgeable and helped me picked out the right size board 8.5 and correct wheels for my skating goals. She also recommended the reds bearings which I loved because they spin super fast. We came back the next day May 1st with my 7 year old daughter and she picked out her own board too. Sonny was really patient with her and helped her pick out and build her board as well. Sonny was also the only employee working and had 4 other customers inside the store but was doing an awesome job job multitasking. I work in management and I could tell how passionate and knowledgeable Sonny was. I was impressed with her customer service skills. My daughter and I built a closer bond thanks to skateboarding and been skating everyday ever since! THANK YOU SONNY! She deserves a raise! read more

Found this store a few years back and haven't been able to find it again, but I just remembered how good the selection of clothes and equipment for surfing and skating and bathing suits was. The first time I went the owner was there had an amazing customer service finally found it again and the owner always has customers. Went into Surf & Skate today for the first time. Immediately reminded me of a boardwalk shop I used to frequent at the beach. Huge selection of well priced beach apparel, skateboards and scooters, both for novice and Pro! I needed some help with my grandson's scooter. Bob Mitchell, the owner, greeted me when I came into the store and made me feel right at home. Even though he doesn't really deal with powered scooters, Bob took a look at my grandson's scooter, worked for about 30 minutes and was able to fix the scooter! Bob the owner is one of the most generous charitable man who do a lot of things for kids who can't afford good skateboards and he is there to sponsor them and help them out. Bob the owner is an honorable man who will not take advantage of anyone and he goes way over and beyond to help anybody out. You will know that because of kids that grow up and then they come back with their kids. I think he got a few bad reviews just because he's conservative. I realized that the people that gave a bad reviews are liberals, unfortunately politics do play a role with some people. I just had a great experience at Surf and Skate. I went in the store not knowing much about scooters or how to size the various types of scooters to my son. I had done a little research so I had an idea. The scooter I thought I was going to buy was over $300. After talking with the owner we settled on an awesome scooter for $220. I am really happy with the decision I made. I thought it was very professional of the owner to give me guidance which saved me money. He could have very easily let me go forward with the larger purchase but he knew this was too much for my son and his skill level. The selection here covers many brands and styles. You can go completely custom or buy a complete skate or scooter. Also these guys have a ton of apparel, hats, t-shirts, you name it. The place is well organized and fully stocked. My son lost the bolt and a spacer for his rear axle on his scooter. Dude in the shop hooked us up with the little parts and hand sanded the spacer to even it out with the one he had. Place is awesome and always ready to help. Will go back whenever I can. read more
