Be sure to peruse the entire men's and women's clothing selection. You will find creative, designer sportswear that you don't see everywhere. I had a hungry man at my heels so I missed a lot.

During the COVID era, the most usual practices can be grueling, unpleasant and somewhat tedious. Getting fitting out for rentals is tedious in any case (with 6 year old in tow).. but it's the bright faces of the crew and their efficient work that truly make all the difference. In and out.. as quickly as we could possibly be! Super happy with the equipment, guidance and help. When we were nearly late to our ski lesson, they helped out tremendously. When I wasn't sure about fit of the boot, they had all the info. When we wanted a harness for our 6 year old (he was FLYING at a speed we weren't comfortable), Toby and Erika were there to help. My brother Prescott, my family, and I would stop in for that coffee and hot chocolate machine and whatever gear we needed for the day. What really stayed with us, though, was not just the stop, but Buck and Herschel. They were always friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on taking care of people. We come from a ski racing background back East, so we have always been particular about fit and performance. You feel it immediately when something is off, and you remember the people who get it right. It has been really rewarding to watch them build Olympic Bootworks over the years and develop things like the Heel-N-Loc footbed. It simply works. You feel more secure, more comfortable, and it has made a noticeable difference not only on the mountain but even in my son's soccer cleats. That level of consistency over this many years is rare. I ended up buying my new atomic boots here yesterday. After testing them out all day, I returned for some minor adjustments which Christian quickly took care of. Christian has a broad boot selection and selected multiple boots for me to try on. He offers a great value. He does not charge for his fitting time or push upsells (as many other boot fitters do). He just charges for the boots. He works magic with the boots to make them a perfect fit. And he is easy to work with and very flexible.

When I returned my ski equipment, the employee briefly asked how it was, then immediately turned to another customer mid-conversation. I had to interrupt just to get my own shoes back. For premium prices, this was by far the worst service I've experienced. I've skied at many mountains, and the lack of professionalism and basic customer service here was shocking.

It's 2021. This would've been so easy to implement. This was really, really bad and left a bad taste in my mouth. Again, it's not the closing that's such a bummer - it's the total neglecting to do the right thing and let all the prepaid customers know not to bother driving up. If either the rental office or the lift ticket office had done this, this all could've been solved in advance, but neither business bothered. skipping out on the basics like this and forgetting about the customers has really turned me sour on Northstar altogether.

Over the 40 years I've been skiing, I have not met anyone with more knowledge of the human foot & what a good ski boot fit is like and that includes several good orthopedic surgeons. What makes Cosmo great is his personal tireless efforts centered on the individual. Where other shops may have 2 or 3 boot fitters, with Cosmo Footwerks, Cosmo IS IT - he is a craftsman. So if there is a line of people waiting to see him and he is pressed for time or has other priorities, then someone's service may take a hit. But if you schedule with him, be on time & be patient you will come away with happy ski feet - priceless! More than anyone I known in this sport, Cosmo stands behind his work. You can come back as many times as needed to get your fit right. Not only does he continue to work with you but he remembers your particulars, even if it was some time ago. Pat is a true gem in the ski world. He does great work, charges a fair price to all (not just locals). If you go to see him, call ahead and scheduled a time when he's not so busy. If necessary take a day during the week, you will enjoy the shop and Truckee when it is not so crowded with weekenders.

I had a great day snowboarding…read more Unfortunately 2 of the screws on separate bindings came off when I came off the lift at the top of the mountain. These screws are responsible for holding the bootstraps to the bindings. Thankfully I was able to find these screws after looking around in the snow and put them back in, but it could have been much worse if they came off while I was riding. I was explaining what happened at the end of the day to the return staff and was cut off mid-way with "yes I'm aware of how they work". No apology or acknowledgment. For $100+ / day I expected top notch service and attention to critical details. Rent at your own peril.
