These guys are boot magicians...practically worth a trip to Idaho just to work with them. The first time I bought boots (in NYC...mistake #1), I did it all wrong. We just measured my size on one of those boards you find in a shoe store, then just tried on a few "off the rack". This was 3 years ago. Boots are SO important, and had been riding with painful boots and regretting it ever since. The team here fixed everything, and hooked me up with a pair I *love* for a reasonable price. They're all true hardcore skiers, really know what they're talking about, and go out of their way to take good care of you. Custom boots is just about all they do, and it's life-changing if you're a serious skier. Again, the whole team super knowledgeable, but ask for Garret if you can. He went above & beyond to make sure my feet were happy, and kept making minor adjustments until everything felt perfect. Total pro. read more

Caution...not worth the money; sub-standard boots and fit. We thought that we were splurging on the best boots for my 23 and 25 year old kids last year. They have lived and skied in the Sun Valley since they were 5 and 7 years old and are expert skiers. Both of them have had nothing but problems with the boots from the day we purchased them. My son traveled to Austria in November to teach skiing and reports that he couldn't wear his boots after the first day. Over the last year he has been forced to take them into Surefoot with problems many times. His shins are currently bruised and in pain making it impossible to use them after his first day of skiing. Now he is forced to teach snowboarding and he is missing out on skiing with his favorite powder skis. He is in the process of shopping for new boots. My daughter's boots have leaked from day one, are much colder than any boot she has ever worn and the boots have been "repaired" numerous times for the leakage and a fit without pain. What good is a guarantee if you leave town or country where there isn't a store? The boots are not worth the money even if you live in the Sun Valley area. Sturdevant's is the best place to receive advice for choosing the correct boot for your foot and skiing ability. They also custom-fit boots before you leave the store. I have purchased boots from them for 30 years without a problem. Many people have taken their Surefoot boots to both Sturdevants, and Formula to receive help solving their Surefoot boot problems. In talking to other locals about this we learned the hard way that Surefoot boots are known to be terrible and way over priced. I strongly advise against them. read more
