This place is like a dream come true. Shelves and tables full of stuff that I absolutely need (even if just once!) There truly is an an unlimited amount of kitchen gadgets - some of it is pricy but the quality is obvious. The really awesome part of this place is the service. Everytime I've come in, I've received greeting and offer for help and unobtrusive check-ins throughout my visit. That's really important for someone like me who wants to be acknowledged but left alone all at the same time. I did purchase a higher end deep fryer that was a little expensive but the quality is fantastic. Because I spent a certain amount, I received a free tote bag. Great store. read more

AVOID COOKING CLASSES HERE. Terrible class, terrible follow up, awful customer service. First, we had to share all ingredients with a couple we had never met before. They were nice people, but it was uncomfortable sharing, and for the cost of the class we got almost nothing to take home, including no recipes. There was almost NO actual instruction, and we weren't even given recipes in class. We were rushed, and barely got to do any actual techniques. The teacher said he would email the recipes, but it took 3 emails from me to customer service afterward before the recipes were provided, with no explanation and no apologies. Pre-covid I went to several classes here, and they were instructive and fun. After this most recent experience, I will never go back. Save your money and find a real Cooking class that isn't an ad for a bunch of overpriced kitchen stuff you don't need. read more

Oh, this store. I like to peruse it from time to time, and gaze upon all of the beautiful and heavy Le Creuset items I wish I could add to my small collection. It's also a good place to find specialty baking items, like pie stones and heart-shaped tart pans. Because of the often steep price tags on most of their items, Sur La Table remains an aspirational store more than a store in which to purchase actual items. They do, however, occasionally have really good storewide sales! read more

Took a chance, not knowing what to expect, and signed up for Sur La Table's "Date Night: Chef's Table" cooking class as a couples Christmas gift... and it paid off! It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end!! Our chef for the class, Chef Kat Weathers, was very sociable and welcoming. It was obvious Chef Kat loves cooking and loves sharing her knowledge. She answered all of our questions (even the stupid ones... asked mostly by me) with a genuine desire to ensure we understood. The class in and of itself was well worth the time and cost... BUT, once we finished the cooking and sat down to enjoy the meal we had just finished preparing... we quickly appreciated the food ranked right up there with the best food we have ever had at a restaurant. It is hard to imagine a better couple's night out! I cannot recommend the cooking class and Chef Kat Weathers enough!!! Thank you Chef Kat for a great experience! My mom and I attended a Macaron cooking class. Chef Ashley was our instructor and she was so fun! She had a great sense of humor and was very informative and approachable. The kitchen is beautiful and has all the best kitchen tools. The store itself is lovely and very clean. I picked up a few new items for my kitchen and I love everything I purchased. We purchased some New GreenPan pots and pans about a month ago, and they just didn't perform as we were expecting. We returned them for a different set and the new ones are excellent. Just attended our first (but not last) cooking class here. Such a great experience and fun date night! Chef Kat has a great personality and met the class fun and explained everything very well. We were nervous going in because neither one of us are that great at cooking, but most of the prep is done for you.. awesome!! Got some great ideas for dishes to make at home and each dish tasted great. Bonus - you do not have to do the dishes! ;) and you are allowed to BYOB. I stopped in at Sur La Table for the first time today. WOW! They have tons of stuff that I would LOVE to splurge on. If you're a foodie, or maybe are gift shopping for a foodie, make Sur La Table a destination. They have tons of fun and unique kitchen & dining items. I bought a great wooden salad bowl last week at IKEA, but sadly, they didn't have the type of salad tongs I was wanting -- those big wooden scoops without handles. Luckily, I stopped in at Sur La Table and found some that I love! Many of the items in the store are a little pricey, but if you're looking for specialty cookware/kitchen items, you're probably going to pay these prices everywhere. The salad servers I nabbed weren't too pricy at all -- about 10 bucks. Later I found a similar pair down the street at Cost Plus World Market for a few dollars less though. I don't bake that often, but I was wooed by the HUGE selection of fun cookie cutters at Sur La Table. They also carry some fun cookie decorations (fancy sprinkles, etc) that I haven't seen too many other places around town. If you plan to bake many Christmas cookies this year, check out this store! Sur La Table has just about everything you could want in the way of unique kitchen items. If you are already at Clay Terrace, be sure to go check out the store. Even if you aren't looking for anything in particular, you might just find something you can't live without! Admittedly, I've got it pretty bad when I count their catalog as one of my favorite magazines :) If you love kitchen gadgets, and cooking you must add this as a stop in your shopping adventures. Located in Clay Terrace it sits off the beautiful cobbled walk beckoning passersby with their wares. I was in the market to 'trade up' for a knife collection. They have a butcher block set up with carrots for testing. The sales associate was polite, knowledgeable, and patient as I tried 3 different styles. I ended up selecting a set of Global knives. She printed out my block set, advised me to sign up for email and receive the $10 off coupons for future purchases. The store is bright and airy, with a french culinary vibe. read more

Well, since I don't see that happening any time soon, I'll have to content myself with the new Wusthof paring and prep knives and kiwi green Zyliss salad spinner from my most recent visit along with a healthy dose of occasional window shopping. Seriously, if you like to cook this place is very dangerous - before you know it, you've snapped up hundreds of bucks worth of "must-haves!" Okay, so I did also pick up some adorable Halloween wine charms and a can of Italian cherry tomatoes - apparently Sur la Table is the exclusive - stateside at least - store for red gems. According to the wonderful kitchenwares temptress Elena (who is very knowledgeable, btw), you can simply combine the can with some sauteed crushed garlic, a little onion, basil and EVOO and you've got the perfect pasta topper! Other things we wanted but resisted included a ruby-colored raspberry vinegar and a pricey bottle of estate virgin olive oil for the Academia Barilla, that latter of which runs $32.95 but is olive oil's equivalent of a fine sherry (or whatever your preferred libation is) - next trip! Signed my husband and I up for a cooking class here on his birthday. The theme was Date night: Passport to Paris. We learned how to make a very simple yet delicious vinegarette, poach eggs, cook chicken, make an amazing cream sauce for the chicken, and pot de creme for dessert! You work in groups of 4, so we paired up with another couple and took turns chopping, dicing, stirring, etc. Having a fun and enthusiastic instructor helped a ton in having a great time! Tonight was my first time at Sur la Table and it was a great experience. I had come in to take a risotto making class with friends, but got there a bit early. All of the staff were super helpful and nice. They have pretty much anything you can imagine from a kitchen gadget standpoint. The class I attended was pretty awesome. Chef Geoff was an excellent teacher. He taught us night only how to make three different types of risotto, but also some basic knife skills. We were able to make all three, with some assistance in 60 min. We enjoyed the fruits of our labor after the class was over. All three were excellent and I hope I can replicate it at home. An additional perk to the class is a10% off coupon! I will definitely be keeping an eye on the upcoming class schedule to gain some new skills and will be stopping by for a few more of those kitchen gadgets that I had my eye on this evening. read more

I buy most of my kitchen gadgetry at TJMaxx because I'm cheap yet like quality. Prices here are definitely a bit higher, but they also tend not to sell garbage and will actually have the item you need. This particular location has a pretty awesome clearance shelf in the back...items are usually at least 50% off. You'll find everything here from cute seasonal aprons and fun-colored silicone spatulas to Wusthoff knives and $400 countertop appliances. My latest purchase was a spaetzle maker (German noodle-dumplings). I shopped around online and found plastic ones for $5 plus $10 shipping, and also found the stainless steel ones for $25 plus shipping. I bought mine at Sur La Table for $25. So overall, definitely a much better deal than buying online and I had it right then. read more

Large selection of high end kitchen "stuff". Someone once told me something like, "When you buy something cheap, you are happy when you buy it but pissed whenever you use it; When you buy something of quality, you are conflicted when you buy it but happy whenever you use it." This adage is fitting for this store. I bought a high-end German can opener here for around $25. Stupid, because you can probably buy 10 can openers from Walmart for $25. But whenever I use the German can opener, I'm happy. It works well and it cuts open the can on the side of the weld so you can put the lid back on perfectly if you don't use the whole can and there are no sharp edges. And it's still working after many years. No, I don't buy a lot of stuff from this store, but the items I have are all "happy when I use it" items. Sure, there's a lot of stuff for which the Walmart-extracted "lowest price at any cost" is appropriate, but not everything. read more

Today I took a macaron class to try and perfect the ever elusive macaron! Chef Kat and Chef Wilena taught my class and brought an abundance of knowledge, experience and personality to the class. We had a variety of experience among the students and they were able to teach to all levels. First we watched, then we made our own macarons leaving the class with a full box of macarons. You know those little suckers can run you about $2- $4 each so considering I walked out with about 20 macarons was quite impressive. As a bonus, you get a certificate for 10% off anything in the store so I was able to stock up on some much needed cooking supplies. We received an email offer from Sur La table during Christmas. We placed an online order and took advantage of the sale. After placing the order we received one email letting us know that the items were back ordered. After not hearing for 10 days, we called their customer service, and were informed that the order was cancelled and that Sur La Table would not honor the sale items. I asked to speak with a manager and was transferred to a lead customer service rep. He was very rude and would not even allow me to speak and hung up. Very sad that we have done so much business with them to get this type of treatment. I will not step into another Sur La Table ever again. read more

A great place for date night and the store has plenty of kitchen supplies you may need or may not have known you needed. We went for a Tuscan Italy date night and we made a crostini, polenta steak and apple dessert. My only complaint would be the steak was a little over done for my liking. I love this store. They carry some of the best kitchen products around. Recently I placed an order online for a set of professional cookware. Strangely I received no response on whether or not the order went through. So I called. Found out there was a problem. Got that ironed out and waited patiently for the for confirmation to appear in my email. Still nothing. So I called again. Yes the order is confirmed (who did they confirm it with...certainly not me) and it's going out Federal Express. When someone is spending a lot of money on products from your store you should automatically send a confirmation email and acknowledge that the order went through. I don't know of any other company that doesn't do this when you place an order except Sur La Table. Maybe it's time to take my business to William Sonoma. read more

I had never heard of this chain until there was a $100 charge on my checking out from one of their stores in Washington state (I live on the east coast). I sent an email asking for help to track this down and someone actually replied! They asked for a receipt number, etc. etc. which I could not provide because I had never visited any of their stores - someone stole my card/pin number. I sent them what was on my statement and they did not reply to that. I followed up a week later, again, no reply. Finally, I sent a certified letter to a PO Box (not able to find a street address to corporate) and someone did sign for it. Someone must have read it and guess what happened? They added me to their snail-mail list. Jerk move, Sur La Table. I needed help to track down my hard-earned stolen cash from my account to purchase your inferior products, not pollute my mail with your advertisement. Boooo!
