I was surprised to enter and find their shelves all nearly empty. They had signs and it seems as though their business is struggling and they're currently prioritizing the meat counter and deli. Fortunately, we were primarily there for their deli. That said, something to note, this isn't a store I'd stop in thinking I might be able to get a few shelf staples. Their shelves were bare. I went to the deli and clearly the word is out on their chicken salad. They have a sign that explains they are limiting customers to two pounds of chicken salad due to high demand. We got a pound of that, a pound of their mustard potato salad, and a pound of their deilved egg potato salad. The chicken salad was really good. One thing I loved about it was the texture. It was finely shredded which I prefer. It was well seasoned and wasn't overly mayo-y. Of the two potato salads, I thought prefer the deviled egg potato salad. It was good but a bit plain for me. The mustard potato salad, on the other hand, was great with just the right amount of mustard and seasoning. The service was lovely and the prices were reasonable. Get to it.

Twice a year they have a big blow-out sale on a Saturday. They are recently under new ownership but they still had the sale in fall. Klement's produces many private label products. At the sale you can pick up a pound of sausage for a buck and there are many other deals. Plan to wait in line but you can walk out with a full cart of meat for under $40!

Maybe they didn't smoke the pork and instead bought it that way, so they didn't have the investment. I don't know. It doesn't make any sense and annoys me because I'm expecting to taste the flavor of the rub and smoke. I got nothin'. Either smoke it and let your customers ruin it with sauce or slow cook it in your kitchen and sauce it all you want. Good, but could have been better. It just isn't what I'm looking for.

On top of a burger, on nachos and you can even get the standard pulled pork sandwich topped off with bacon AND ham. That's a 3-way pork lovers have long fantasized about. I did go with the "Go Hog Wild", the aforementioned wonderful pork 3-way. The pulled pork is flat out amazing. It challenges Ono Kine Grindz for my favorite pulled pork in the city. The sauce is what makes it for me. It's a bit spicy and maybe a bit smokey. They should bottle that stuff and put in grocery stores, I want some now. The ham that topped the sandwich was good, nothing amazing. The bacon is my only real complaint about this place and what keeps it from a 5 star for me. It was fatty. I am not sure if that's due to a cheaper cut of bacon or lack of cooking it. It wasn't raw by any means, but the fat was very present. I passed on the slaw as I am still not sure why people ruin a good pulled pork sandwich by putting slaw on top of it (no offense to slaw eaters, but I do not understand your kind). The bun was a short, fat hoagie style and it was grilled with a little char, which I love. They have sodas and sides. Service was friendly. I went at an "off time", around 1pm on a Friday, and walked right up and left with a sandwich in a few minuets. This is going to be my new Friday spot for a while. I plan on going back for the standard pulled pork which, a $5, is a deal for the quality and taste of this stuff. You won't be left hungry with the portion size either. Hard Wood has manged to balance the line between way too much food or not enough, it was a great size for a sandwich. The majority of Friday's they are found on Broadway, near Kilbourn Ave. That happens to be right in front of my office. That happens to make me a very happy person. This is one of the better food trucks I've eaten off of and I'd strongly recommend for anyone who loves pulled pork.
