This is a little gem, first place that I've found since moving here that I can find oxtail. I was so happy when I realize they were open on a Sunday and I found exactly what I was looking for to make dinner Tuesday. Yes I'm a bit early however it's hard to look for ingredients after work with little time to do so. We were greeted right after entering the store which was a plus, I will be going back for more meat

I drove buy and saw buddy's meat market so I did a u turn because you never know what you will find in the neighborhood places. There was some good looking fresh meats there along with a freezer full of various items. I saw the house brand snack stycks and I grabbed one. This is no slim Jim and was good with a slightly hot after taste. I'm glad I stopped because I never would have had them. This is a nice neighborhood place. I was on my way to something else so this is not in my regular travels but if I find near by again I will stop.

This place rules! I have regularly shopped here for all of my smoking needs. The quality of meat is top notch! If they don't have the size cut you need they have either: gone to the back and cut it for your or ordered it very quickly. They are even great for holiday hams or large gathering meats cooked in the oven as well.

The only crime here is that this place isn't a chain and it's miles away from me. Our waitress was amazing, the vibes were perfect, everything felt intentional in the best way. The heirloom tomato salad was so fresh and delightful. A full 5 out of 5. And those beef tallow fries were unreal. I am still thinking about them and genuinely wish I could figure out how to recreate them at home. TikTok actually delivered on this one. Very happy we ended up going.

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.

The space is cozy and dim and well decorated. The staff are always kind. some are more helpful or informative than others. You can pair the cheeses with every drink on the menu or try pre-paired boards. You can also buy cheeses from the dairy and others, as well as assorted related products at a small retail section or cut fresh from the cheese case. Parking is on the street and can be a pain in this saturated area. The reason for the drop in stars? Prior visits got you more wines and more food to pair it with. This visit had prices steady but fewer wines, less cheese and $1 upcharge for some wafer crackers. I know the economy is not great right now, but this now seems like an expensive place to bring friends, not a reasonable day outing.

It'll turn you into a cheese connoisseur if you're not already one. I fell in love with Gouda cheese as soon as I took a bite. We tried a classic cheese flight board and red wine only flight to pair with the different types of cheese. They made it into a gluten free spread so we had four types of cheese in lieu of the seasoned dried meat and gluten free crackers. The place is inviting, has nice decorations, great for going on a date or a casual catch up with your bestie. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They knew so much about wine and cheese, I would want a whole Documentary on cheese. You can also purchase cheese and other goodies to go! Come on Thursdays, they have a discount on cheese boards!

Which, gives it that festive feel that you crave! It feels as if you've stepped into a European market with a Wisconsin twist! Which, is a one of a kind Wisconsin treat that you'll never forget! They also sell a huge variety of cheese, dairy products, and cured meats. Along, with spices and local goods! Every time I come here I leave with something new to spice up my life. They also sell drinks and alcohol. So, they cover everything! They are a perfectly well balanced one of a kind Wisconsin treat. That you'll enjoy to the last bite! Marinara sauce-this sauce is full of spices, heat, and tang. It has the perfect balance of sweet and zesty with a kick! I absolutely love this sauce. It's smooth with just a hint of texture. Which, pairs perfectly with your fried cheese curds. There were two registers but only one was staffed. I tried to ask for things from behind the case at one register and the cashier told me I could only get them at the other register. So I waited for a few minutes before realizing nobody was ever going to show up (there was nobody in the hour i spent there.) Then I went back to the first register. I sat down at the bar that is right in front of the cash register since I wanted to stay and eat. It seems you have to stand directly in front of the register in order to get service or else they wait until nobody is getting in line at the register to acknowledge you at the bar. There are only 4 seats for the whole place, so it seems you'd want to get your seat quickly, but they do expect you to stand until after you've ordered. I asked for cheese from behind the case and they said they were no longer slicing cheese (an hour before closing.) I asked again for a sausage from behind the case and it turns out they actually can reach behind other cases than the one they are directly in front of and I neednt have waited in front of an empty register for no reason earlier. The wait was long and the food was disappointing. At least it wasn't too expensive. I tried poutine here for the first time and can't tell if I just dislike poutine or if it was very low quality. It was just some fries from the freezer with basic brown gravy and unbattered cheese curds. Eating the cheese curds felt like eating a rainboot. The whole thing was inedibly salty. The usingers sausage stick and bourbon sausage I got were basically sticks of salty lard and really didn't have much flavor other than that. I threw almost everything in the trash.

Someone told me that they liked the tacos here and were the best in Milwaukee. I took a mental note. Pull into the lot and headed through the sliding doors. You will probably be the only Caucasian, so suck it up whitey. There's tons of booze! Not sure how late it's open or what it might be like at 8:45 on a Saturday. Keep on walking and you'll pass by canned and packaged goods and then at the end some nice fruits and vegetables. There is also a deli with lots of meat next to a small restaurant and a few tables to dine. The food cost won't even come close to making an indent to the bank, my 3 tacos were a grand total of $5 (and left a buck in the tip jar). I ordered steak, lengua, & chorizo (which I'm 90% sure ended up being carnitas). My favorite was the steak. This was only my second time trying lengua and it went about as well as my first time (one bite and done). What I think ended up being carnitas instead of chorizo had quite the number of hard, grizzly pieces, but this sh!t is authentic! This is how tacos roll in the homeland. And while in Rome.... order it and eat it. The green sauce that came with the tacos was really tasty. A little spicy but not really. They probably have a rojo (red) sauce that is hotter, I'm guessing, but this juera will have to ask about it next time. Tacos Locos Foreverrrrrr! (just me making a dorky movie reference)

The place is a Spanish grocery store and a restaurant which was fairly busy so I work my way to the back where the restaurant is and I'm standing in front of the order counter for a few minutes and I realize that no one is working it. I start looking closer at the kitchen and it's dead with nothing turned on, nothing on the stove so it looks closed. I ask the butcher if the kitchen was open and he says it's closed, I ask when does it open and he says he doesn't know so I'm confused and think there is a language problem. I walk up to the cashier and ask her when does the restaurant open and she says it just closed thinking that I came late today and I missed them. I ask the cashier when do they reopen and she turns to a guy behind her to ask him and she says when someone rents it, are you fuc#%ng kidding me, in four days it went from a review to closing down. The bottom line is I was super excited to eat here and I drove all the way across town to find them shut down so it was a complete waste of time, phone first if this place ever has an open restaurant again before you head over.
