I read someone else's review saying that the meat market next to the cheese store has cheaper meats (meat sticks, salamis, summer sausages). They were open an hour earlier than the cheese mart so we headed here first and got our meats! The set up looks like a big empty space and all the meats are inside small slide top fridges or are behind a glass display. I guess it's more sanitary that way? Anyway the prices were great and I got a ton of different types of meats to take back home. I got some sliced meats that I made sandwiches with when I got back to my hotel. A perfect lunch! I am very disappointed with customer service at Usingers. I ordered a $162 gift box to be delivered to Georgia for a xmas present. The package was never delivered and was returned to Usingers's for an incorrect address, which was the address that was used successfully the year before. Usingers never called or emailed me of the problem. I was told that there was nothing I could do and am out the money and the product. I am highly disappointed with ordering from Usinger's this 2025 holiday season. I was treated very poorly and unprofessionally when I called by more than one person. The overall attitude was shocking. I am still in awe at the rudeness by a female representative in customer service. No one seemed like they cared at all! Despite that interaction, we decided to order and send to family in another state. We have no idea when package will be delivered and no way to track the delivery! While my mom and I were in Milwaukee we came across Usinger's. I have bought some of their brats before from a local grocery store so I was excited to go to their main location. They have a nice variety of meats like sausages, brats, bacon, corned beef, etc. They also sell prepackaged deli meats. I decided to purchase the spicy Italian sausage. I dragged my partner in here on our walk around Milwaukee, and I'm so glad I did. What a cute little meat shop! The interior is definitely an old world vibe with cute paintings around the walls near the ceiling. They have a deli section where you can get lunch meats to order, as well as coolers full of items that are already wrapped and ready to purchase, such as brats, hot dogs, and summer sausage. A must visit if you're in Milwaukee and like meat! I stopped by after numerous drive-bys and was pleasantly thrilled! If you're looking for a gift, you cannot go wrong with Usinger's! I stopped in their deli store and picked up various sausages, from summer to Italian to beef sticks and cilantro sausages. Since it was the holiday season, there was a slight wait, but I didn't mind as I could shop the meats in the chest coolers and take in the historic building. Upon entry you take a number to check out and order anything not in the coolers such as sliced meats or wearable merchandise. The pricing is very fair and I would definitely return. Everyone loved their meat gifts this year! PS. Stop in their Usinger's annex, where they have all of their holiday gift boxes on display for purchase! It's a wooden door and seems like your entering the elves secret sausage shop. The staff(or should I say, elves) were very friendly and answered all of my questions, especially since I was planning on shipping my gift box across state lines. If you want quality sausages and bacon for an amazing price, look no further! Usinger's in the Old World Third Street district is where you need to be. Milwaukee is lucky to have this place nearby. If I lived closer, I would be a regular. Unfortunately the downside to eating such tasty treats would be an elevated cholesterol level and sodium intake! The real draws are the quality of their meats and cost. The pricing is simply mind blowing. My husband and I purchased 3 packs of brats, a beef jerky stick, liverwurst pate and 2 packs of bacon for under $23 after tax. Our favorites are the fresh bratwurst and the peppered bacon. One quick pro tip. Get a number as soon as you walk in and if you're going to buy in bulk, grab a cardboard carton from the carton pile just to the right of the door. Usinger's Famous Sausage is the kind of old school place that serves up delicious meats at a reasonable price from a friendly staff in a quick manner. They're good people doing good things. While stopping through Milwaukee, which is pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" and is Algonquin for "the good land", we decided to stop in to Usinger's and take home some samples (as their reputation proceeded themselves in the circle I run in). Upon entering I was immediately helped by a friendly woman who aided me in finding exactly what I was looking for. In fact, she took one look at me and said, "You're looking for spicy... let me help you" and she was spot-on. Incredible. Not only did she show me the spicy sausage options but she even got me a hell of a deal. What great service! We left with a bag of various sausages and plenty left in the pocketbook. What can you say about Usinger's?! MEAT MEAT and more MEAT!!!! We have been coming to Usinger's every year on our trip to Green Bay. This location is in Milwaukee, but we will always stop. The are basically a place to buy meat. If you want summer sausage, brats, hot dogs, liverwurst, etc, they have it. We usually stock up on brats and hot dogs along with summer sausage to bring home with us. If you tell them you are traveling, they can wrap everything in dry ice, to keep it fresh longer. Their prices can be kind of high, but you can always look on the seconds table for lower prices. These items have a slight defect, nothing food wise, just maybe things like not wrapped properly, or the size is off. But you can get really good prices from there. Since I was a child, our favorite thing has always been the window displays. They are always different. Their theme is kind of centered around elves, so they are always incorporated into the window displays. It is just fun to see what else they come up with. The store itself is very clean and the staff is always nice. If you have questions they will help you. I love how they are kind of in "old" times, where they have older registers, they write everything on a pad then add it up with a calculator. It is just so great to see. They also have an online store where you can send baskets and food items to anyone. They make nice gift sets and I have definitely sent some as gifts! If you are stopping or driving through Milwaukee, I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out. read more

When in the area I like to stop in here to absorb the olde world atmosphere. The cases are filled with all kinds of sausages. Gotta love this place! Some of the best meats around from the deli meats, to the packaged sausages this is the place to go to. Walking in grab a number to the right and wait to be called on. One of the ladies behind the counter will then take your meat order on a piece of paper, most everything is sold by the lb even if it is prepackaged. Take a look at the items in the "imperfects counter" and find some great deals. The mortadella was delicious, better than what I remember in Italy. The beef summer sausage, hard to put down and stop eating. They even sell pretzel rolls in the 4 pack for $2.50 and a huge box of crackers for $1!. This review is about the gift shop. Heading to somewhere else and you want to bring something Milwaukee to show some pride in where you come from? Well there just aren't that many people who appreciate cheeseheads, and I can't afford to buy everyone I visit a Harley so Usinger's meats it is. They make it really convenient here as they have their own parking spaces in the nearby lot (otherwise parking can be dicey here) and the staff is helpful and effecient. It's not like there isn't a lot of competition for sausages around here, but this is a good deal for very fresh high quality and it's so Milwaukee. I can't believe anyone would eat Johnsonville I mean seriously . So, while you're in here getting gifts, they also have some very tantalizing snacks and I love the prices on their "imperfect" stuff. Milwaukee's pretty well known for their beers and brats, and while I'm a vegetarian, I thought this would be a fun place to stop at for souvenirs for others when I happened to be in the area this past summer. You do have the option to have things shipped back home to you, if you don't want to carry a bunch of things with you on a plane, but I managed to find some items that were easy to transport back with me easily. I thought prices were very fair, and the worker helping me was very friendly. What not to love here. Its old school at its finest. The products are all great from the sausages to the bacon and beef sticks. Don't miss the mural inside lining the space. It's a very cool old space that you can just imagine what it was like in its heyday. It screams charm and wisconsin.  We were at Marcus and made it a point to stop in for some beef sticks (so great) summer sausage, Bacon and liver sausage. So much better priced then any of the tourist places (looking at you Mars) Plus your getting it from the source...this is hallowed ground. They have a great selection, bring a cooler and fill it up, Aside from the stuff we bought it's like a full butcher and smoke shop. Well who doesn't want to stock up on local sausage both fresh and cured? We had a cheese tray that contained Usinger's sausage and we knew that we needed to take some home with us! We stopped in for yachtwurst and smoked sausage and hot sticks. I was happy to find jalapeño summer sausage on sale 2/$5. We grabbed an assortment of meats for two households and it was only $38. Amazing considering how much they were charging at the cheese shop two doors down. Usinger's is a meat lover's dream come true, bonus points if you are down with the German sausages. Usinger's has been around since the 1870's and has been making bratwurst and sausage since that time. They offer these items as well as bacon, lunch meat, ham, chops, and chicken links in their Milwaukee store or through mail order. The shop is the same as it was back in the 1930's and the folks that work behind the counter are very helpful and professional. A word of caution though: BE PREPARED TO SPEND. Everything offered here is so delicious and enticing I often WAY over buy (thank god for freezers). The Braunschweiger is fantastic, as is the chorizo, applewood smoked bacon, andouille, and garlic sausage. Just when you think you've seen everything suddenly there's a football shaped summer sausage in the case and you realize, well, I have to get that too. Curses! Meat and Usinger's are synonymous in Milwaukee and for me a trip to this great city is never complete without a stop here to purchase and ship some of the best brats and sausages I have ever tasted. During my most recent trip to Milwaukee however I did not have enough time and was "forced" to go on my last day hoping the TSA gods would allow my purchases through security. I stopped in their retail store, and since I was traveling picked up some pre-packaged chicken and pork sausage as well as some brats to bring home with me. I also picked up some "seconds" - which only meant that they were misshapen or not up to the Usinger's standards. Sold at half the price - it's a steal. For those living in the MKE area - make sure to check out their fresh meats and even some that can be sliced to order. Even if you are not within driving distance to Usinger's - check out their website - they ship all over the country. I am happy to report that all my purchases made it through security and as I am composing this review the pork and chicken sausages have been happily consumed! Pro-Tip - if you are buying sausages to bring with you on the plane and purchase the gel packs to keep your meat cold - make sure you DO NOT bring it in your carry on luggage. Another fixture in my blissful Milwaukee childhood. We went here quite a lot 'cos my Dad knew the owner of Usinger's when he was alive. I remember wanting to work there when I was a kid 'cos the workers got free sausage lunches - when I was 7 or 8, that seemed like the coolest thing in the world (still does, honestly). And, as a kid, when I went to work for the day with my Dad (which was relatively frequent), I'd always want lunch here. The operative word here, being - SAUSAGE! When I lived in LA, my mom used to ship brats to me, 'cos weirdly, I couldn't find them there. Now, in Chicago, you can find Usinger's meaty products in a few of the grocery store - and when I see them, I set upon them like a wolf. Being of German/Russian descent, we take our encased meat products seriously. Juicy and delicious, no tofu-veggie-faux meat product need apply. Please! Usingers quality has always been top shelf - and they ship anywhere. Summer sausage, Salami: genoa, hard, garlic, cotto, and beer, knackwurst, mortadella, braunschweiger, liver sausage, thuringer, sulze, yachtwurst, bologna, kielbasa, bratwurst, I love it all. And my Dad's favorite *shudders* . . . head cheese. And there are no "low fat" versions of this stuff that I'm aware of - that would be blasphemy! Yeah. I'm part German, liebchen!
