I took 4 women's blazers here to shorten the sleeves as they were too long (I am 4'10), one pair of pants to be shortened, and 1 blazer to be dry cleaned. For the blazer alterations, there were 4 buttons on each of the sleeves, and I asked them to shorten/hem the sleeves up to where the buttons were (see pic of how the blazers were when I brought them in). The seamstress and her staff of 1 speak Spanish primarily, so luckily there was a young man there (seemed to be a family member) who translated and the seamstress showed me what she was going to do on the blazer to confirm that we were all aligned on what was to be done. All seemed to be good and I planned to pick up the blazers and 1 pair of pants a week after the promised date because rarely does this shop have my items on the promised date, but I continued to come because there aren't very many alterations places on the far east side, and after the first time learning that they run behind, I just got into the habit of bringing things in early in anticipation of the delay, and I live a block away so it wasn't a big deal. When I came back to pick up my items 7 days past the promised date, I was absolutely appalled by what I was shown. They removed all 4 buttons and hemmed the sleeves to where the first 2 buttons were, as requested, but they sewed the first 2 button holes shut and pushed all 4 buttons back behind the button holes, leaving 2 button holes exposed with no buttons to go through those holes!!!! I was not outwardly angry as I just wanted the items fixed. It looked absolutely awful...I don't even know why the seamstress would think this would be acceptable and my ask is not an uncommon ask from an alterations shop. A woman who worked the counter at the dry cleaning section of these 2 combined businesses came over and again, I had a translator explain why what they did was unacceptable and not what we agreed to via translator. The only solution was to take the 2 higher buttons and place them over the 2 open button holes, which would make the buttons useless, but at least it would no longer look ridiculous - you really have to look closely to see the error on all 4 blazers (see pics of how the sleeves turned out after their "correction". In addition, the cream-colored blazer seemed to have gotten caught on something as there were now little black tire tracks right where the alterations occurred on the sleeve!! The dry cleaner clerk came back with a ticket and ensured that my jacket would be cleaned for me to pick up the next day, which was Friday. I waited until the following Tuesday to pick up my remaining items, and again.....issues. The cream blazer still hadn't been washed and one of the remaining blazers hadn't even been worked on to make the corrections. So, I was asked to come back again the next day. I came back 7 days later instead, just to ensure it was all done. That day was today. I picked up the 2 remaining blazers, 1 was to be corrected and the other was the cream-colored blazer that needed to be corrected and also dry cleaned from the damage sustained while in their care. The dry cleaning clerk, a different lady this time, wanted to charge me $9.44 for the dry cleaning. Yes!!! They wanted to charge me for damage that occurred there. The stain was not due to my error and had occurred while in the care of the seamstress so I asked for a manager, and I was told, "They are separate from us and there is no manager, you will have to call and you can't have your dry cleaning until it's paid", and walked away. I told the seamstress that I was being charged for the cleaning and she even said that she did not see the dark black streaks (looked like little wheel treads) when they did the alterations, and had no idea how it happened and she and the dry cleaning clerk began discussing this in Spanish, so I had no idea what was being said except until the seamstress said, "No problem, we pay this". DO NOT COME HERE FOR ALTERATIONS OR DRY CLEANING IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CLOTHING!!!! $124 for garbage. read more
