I had to think on this one and how I wanted to review it. I can't imagine how difficult it must be…read moreto run a smaller, private grocery store competing against the big dog corporations and for this I give them props! When you walk in you can tell they put a lot into it and that is certainly something to be proud of. The store itself is old, I don't know if it's the building or the store itself as I'm not from the area, but they've added some style and modern flair to it. They also have just about anything you could check off your shopping list plus some. Expect to find beautiful cuts of meat, fresh vegetables, cakes and desserts, lots of prepared foods along with all the essential pantry staples. They also have a deli section with Boars Head products as well as a small bistro inside though we didn't get to try it. Here you will also find some goodies you won't typically see at your chain grocers such as crawfish, pig's feet, or frog legs. They offer a variety of local seasonings, spices and condiments like jams, jellies, sauces as well as varieties of nuts and such... things you might typically find at a road side farmer's stand. The prices, I felt, leaned on the higher side but again, they are competing with conglomerates of mega corporations so some of that is to be expected, I'm sure they do the best they can in that regard. That said, they also had some great deals going as well. Worth a stop in? Yeah, for sure. If I lived close by I might hop in to grab a few things regularly, especially if I'm looking for specialty items as mentioned above. I may update my review if I get back over that way and have a chance to try their little bistro too.

I was in Monroe getting treatment done today. A family suggested heading to John's Market for lunch…read morecause there's a good bistro inside. They heard great things about it so of course we had to check it out. Walking into the market, you can tell it's older. I love that about the place. We checked everything out. They had some pretty neat products in the store. I was fascinated with all the locally baked goods. We ended up snagging a pound cake. I'm looking forward to eating it with strawberries and whipped topping. It's a great local market. They have a great produce section. I was able to find the rare green plums here. I know I won't be able to finish them before we travel back home or I totally would have got them! They looked really good! I heard this store has been on Monroe for a while so it's neat that I got to experience a part of this city through the store. I'll be in Monroe for a couple treatment visits so I'll have to make sure I come back.

I've been wanting to come here for years and at long last got the chance. My wife and I have…read moredecided that 2026 will be the year we finally begin eating more cleanly. Jensen Reserve is a farm-based butcher shop and artisan food producer in Walton County, Georgia that came highly recommended by friends. It's not a large place, but offers high-quality, pasture-raised, locally sourced meats such as beef, chicken, and its own pork products from the rare Meishan pig breed. They provide Artisan food products like prosciutto, capicola and dips and spreads you can feel good about consuming. The Owner/Farmer, Laura Jensen, wants you to eat like a farmer everyday! We had the chance to meet her and she explained why she began farming after battling several health issues. It is important to her to offer meats free of chemicals and pollutants. The entire staff was lovely and we had a BLAST talking with many of the customers, some of which convinced us to purchase far more than we intended! Still, we remained conservative because we weren't sure if the hype was truly worthy. But let me offer some assurance from a former Yelp Elite member for more than 13 years... they are indeed worth the hype! [ WHAT WE PURCHASED ] We took home two steak burger patties, 5lbs of frozen chicken breasts, a Teres Major steak, a jar of peach habanero pepper jelly, a block of Havarti cheese, a loaf of cheddar jalapeno sourdough bread, and one container each of their regular chicken salad and the buffalo chicken dip. It was so surprisingly good that we ate the chicken salad and buffalo dip within 48 hours of our first bite! The steak burgers were absolutely amazing and my wife has been really enjoying the sourdough bread. We also had a great date night in our living room with a movie, club crackers, the Havarti cheese and peach habanero pepper jelly. We have yet to cook the chicken or teres major steak, but if what we've already devoured is any indicator, we will be very happy with our meal. They offer freezer packages, half hog & whole hog packages, and everything from a 1/4 of a cow to a whole cow package as well as bulk buys and weekly specials. Their "stock your frig freezer bundle" for $285 fits in most refrigerator freezers with no need for a deep freezer (according to their sign). Now that's smart advertising! [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Not gonna kid anyone, some of the steak prices are uncomfortable, but after comparing some of the organic local grocery chain prices for chicken and ground beef, Jensen meats and other products are actually great buys!
