Great food !! Street tacos, EVERY kind of meat, eggs, veggies. Chile Relleno & soups are excellent!! Texas style Mexican meat market with small produce section & cafeteria style restaurant. Get it to go or there is modest seating. But the atmosphere is hole in the wall, at best...lol Seasoned fajita meat & all types of Hispanic style meat, at reasonable prices. Or get already cooked meat at the restaurant counter, by the pound, to take home. Weekends there are usually home made (warm) tortillas & different soups. Friendly staff, don't worry about any language barrier, pointing works fine. Truly good, traditional food. I highly recommend. read more

This store is smaller than most I shop in, but it makes good use of its space, and their employees are very helpful. In fact, it's the first grocery store I've been to in the US where the courtesy clerk (bagger) automatically brings your groceries to your car. I don't know if they do this with everyone, but we had assistance both times we shopped here. Maybe it was because my sisters are pretty, or because we had a cartful each time, or both. The prices are low, but I deduct a star for their very limited selection of whole grain breads and pastas. TIP: get the Brookshire's Thank You card to save money. It takes about 2-5 minutes, depending on how fast you type into the kiosk. It's a nice store in a very small town.

Some of their inventory was being restocked, so getting around the aisles could be challenging. The hours aren't always convenient for everyone, & I needed a 15-minute reminder that the store was near closing. But I found plenty of things I needed at a reasonable price, with friendly staff. They missed one of their anti-theft tags on one of my packs of socks (& I didn't realize it until 3-4 days later), but I returned with the pack of socks & my receipt, & they took off the device in an understanding manner. That process took barely 2 or 3 minutes of my time. So convenient! Walmart or Brookshires may have a bigger selection of grocery & food items, but I would definitely like to shop here again, especially right before traveling.

Callaways Coffee and Bistro popped up as a little house with adorable photos and lovely reviews and off we went. It was perfect. They have REAL FOOD here. I tried to reproduce the menu, but seriously they have pages of breakfast, salads and sandwiches. And COFFEE, of course. I had this amazing 100% Angus patty Cheeseburger - an enormous perfectly cooked patty. ($9.95) My husband ordered the Ragun Cajun, a spicy Chicken breast on ciabatta that he loved. ($9.95) They still had pie, blondies, cookies and assorted yummy sweet treats under glass. I had the Buttermilk pie with a Tender crust and totally delicious filling! ($2.75) Our server was a terrific young man; personable, helpful and a good cook! We had a good time. The bathroom is Unisex and clean. There is plenty of seating. We sat at a regular dining table, but there are plenty of tables for two or three in addition to chairs and sofas. Most parking is street side. I'm looking forward to coming back!

The cost was $28 for 2 sandwiches and the pudding I could not eat. Trying to be honest because other things on the menu may be awesome. It's about 15 miles from Cedar Creek Lake & actually closer to Purtis Creek Lake State Park. So, if a Yelper is looking for it under The "Phalba Store" name, here's my updated review for it. Hubby & I headed out to see a good friend's new house & we were looking forward to grabbing a delicious Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries at The Phalba Store. Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I'm a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It's decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools , old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There's also an old 70's Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil...etc. It's all fresh and the store only carries @ 5-10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables......cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It's a great little Stop if you're ever out that way. Super nice folks!

I had a coke, which was served in a bottle, but our server brought me a glass of ice which was great. The restaurant was hopping for a Thursday night. It wasn't full to the max, but business was good. Our server was very attentive. I wish I could remember her name so I could give her a shout out. The guacamole was delicious. I could have made a meal just off of that, but since it was ordered by my friend, I wasn't going to eat all of her food. Ha! Honestly though, the salsa and rest of our food was mediocre. We ate most of it, but there wasn't anything I'd crave enough to go back. It was edible, so if I found myself in Frankston hungry again, I'd consider stopping in. Like I said, there aren't a lot of dining options. We eventually asked for our check and went to the front register to check out. This was done by an older man who we found to be very rude. We asked for our check to be split up between us, and I guess he just wasn't in the mood or something. There was no one else checking out at the time, but he was rushing us through, making a simple request a whirlwind of demands. I really don't know how else to describe it. Once we paid and were out the door, we all looked at each other and tried to figure out what that was all about. Needless to say, he kinda ruined the experience for us. So, if you're in Frankston, and want some so-so Texmex, go to Marcos. Or, there's always the Dairy Queen nearby for just as good of a meal.
