Well if you get the time, you should stop and check them out. The Brazos Valley Cheese store is located at the Homestead Craft Village. It's a cute little place with all kinds of shops and BBQ. The cheese shop has lots of cheese samples and meats for making a charcuterie board. There are also crackers, fresh baguettes and more. The ladies at the cheese shop were very helpful and had all kinds of insights into the cheeses. Overall a great stop and the cheese was wonderful... it will make a nice addition to a wine country weekend!

Basically she had an ailing mother who quit eating. So she had to make TASTY as well as HEALTHY options. She tried dozens of different recipes to perfect it for her mother. The cashiers, depending on who you get, can be super rude, unhelpful and even argumentative. I still don't understand the deal with their plastic bags - are they charging for them, or giving you a credit for bringing your own bags, or what? I wish I didn't have to shop here, but Aldi doesn't sell certain vegetables that they do have here. Can't buy anything besides that though - it's just too expensive.

It's about 15 miles from Cedar Creek Lake & actually closer to Purtis Creek Lake State Park. So, if a Yelper is looking for it under The "Phalba Store" name, here's my updated review for it. Hubby & I headed out to see a good friend's new house & we were looking forward to grabbing a delicious Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries at The Phalba Store. Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I'm a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It's decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools , old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There's also an old 70's Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil...etc. It's all fresh and the store only carries @ 5-10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables......cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It's a great little Stop if you're ever out that way.
