Recently, my 2002 Volvo wagon (170K miles) conked out and it struck both me and the tow truck driver that it was something electrical. The truck driver also noticed that I had an oil leak. I got towed to Superior largely on the strength of the reviews on Yelp. This was on a Saturday afternoon. The shop was already closed and so I left my car, keys and a message on their answering machine for when they opened again on Monday. They diagnosed two problems. First, they said it was the alternator, the replacement of which would cost me just shy of $1000 for parts and labor. They also said that the seals on my cam shaft were shot and that fixing them would cost me another $950. Since I couldn't drive my car without the alternator getting fixed, I agreed to that work, despite my mechanic back in VT (where I live) telling me that he could've done the same alternator work for 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost. I asked the folks at Superior to hold off on the cam shaft work once I knew that they were overcharging me. I brought my car to my mechanic in VT to take a look and it turns out that it wasn't the cam shaft seals that were the problem, but rather that the crank case was mucked up and, as a result, the oil was getting pushed out past otherwise decent seals. The cost for his fix? About $250. I don't see any good reason to trust these guys, since they both over-charged me and got a diagnosis wrong. I will not be going back there. It would've been cheaper to get my car towed all the way back to VT and have the work done there... read more

I am the original owner of my S60 T5 and have ALWAYS had services from oil changes to repairs done at Volvo dealerships. Today was the second time that I have used any other repair service outside of a Volvo Dealership and Superior being the repair shop both times. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect both times but after today's encounter, I am SOLD! The guys here are really nice and know their stuff. Neither time did they call me back and try and upswell me on other repairs. They told me today that it would take about 2 days before they would be able to get to my car. Well, low-and-behold, I got my car back today (same day) before 3pm and the cost was less than I thought!!!! Thanks guys! read more

I have a Volvo that was mysteriously emitting visible exhaust fumes. It was mysterious because it was intermittent for a few seconds at a time, few minutes apart. Also had some rattling in the front. Brought my car there, and Brian checked it out. He tightened something and bent something back into place. Also told me rattling was struts, but nothing dangerous/immediate. No charge. I'm just glad they were honest and didn't try to tell me something bigger was wrong! read more

As good as it gets. Keith and Jim have an intimidating knowledge about Volvos and how to keep them running. My experience has always been, "the framis was broken/worn-for this reason-and it will take this long to replace it." This seems simple, but it's often the case that shops will take a shotgun approach to repair and will just replace a host of parts in a blind attempt to get the right one. I have absolute trust that these guys will find the problem, let me know beforehand what it's going to run me, and fix it the first time every time. Oh yeah- and I've had plenty of experiences where they could have pushed the envelope and upped the scope of repair and they never took advantage of my trust. read more

My Volvo will be 22 years old this summer, and I can't seem to part with it. For the past 8 years, Keith and Brian have kept it running and out of trouble. They know I don't want to sink lots of money into an old car, but they also know that I worry about safety. So they'll tell me, for example, Repair A can wait--but Repair B should be done now. Or I don't need to spend $$ to replace my loose headlight cover; I can hold it in place with clear packing tape. They're nice, friendly guys who answer my endless paranoid questions ("Are you sure the car won't blow up?") with patience and good humor. I feel I can trust them, and that means a lot to me. Tis a rare day when you find a mechanic who can deliver quality service. My experience here was not on that day. Without mentioning the seemingly more junior mechanic in question, it was a 2 hour wait (perhaps to be expected) before I returned to the shop to learn that problem of cool air blowing out of half my car was still not working. Looks like I'll be keeping the windows donw this summer since I can't afford to have another shop take a loot. read more

I took my 2002 Volvo with 105000 miles on it with check engine light on to Superior motors. They asked me to leave the car to check the problem and told me that they would call me. After 4 hours later, they called me to tell every thing is fixed. They did not call me after diagnosis to give me cost estimate. I went there to find that the problem is the gas cap was not sealing tight. They replaced the gas cap with a new one after cleaning . They also replaced 3 tail light bulbs. For this work they charged $192.00 which is very excessive. I felt that I had been cheated. I will never go to them and never recommend Superior Motors to anybody. read more

No. If I could give zero or negative stars here, I would. Bought a 98 Volvo about 2 yrs ago from Superior Motors; they gave every indication of car being in fine condition and that all fixes were up to snuff, car would not cause me any problems for years to come. Long and short, they sold me a bill of goods. Within 6 months, gear was sticking, costing me about $600 for them to fix. They "got it wrong" the first time so I brought it back. They just happened to discover a different gear issue and charged me an additional $500. I recently chose to bring this car to a reputable garage for full diagnostic, was informed that car desperately needs a timing belt, front axle, new tires, new brakes, among other fixes I won't bother to include. It's not like I can get a refund from Superior Motors at this time so I decided to share feedback with others here as a warning to not give Superior Motors your business. Nice enough guys, just don't let them rake you over the coals like they did to me. read more
