We brought our VW Jetta here to make sure it was safe before we gave it away and we dont get a call with an estimate or asked permission to do work on the clutch and when we show up we are told the part can be taken out and we can just pay the labor that we didnt authorize to begin with! We got referred here after our old mechanic retired, a year or so ago, and were left very happy about the brakes job on our Fiat 500, so I didn't hesitate to take it in yesterday with what I thought was a failed alternator. Ziad found, however, that the problem was in the battery, explained everything in great detail, and less than 24 hours later we had our car back, good as new, and with a much lower bill than I anticipated. When was the last time you told your mechanic that you needed a new alternator, and he didn't take you up on it? This is how one builds trust. This is now a BP. My car broke down 2 weeks ago, and I had it towed here on recommendation from a colleague who lives locally. They were thorough and economical. I picked my car up after hours on Saturday and the invoice was more than I was quoted. I paid it thinking they quoted me the "tax free" price. Monday morning I got a call saying they owed me money (the difference of the quote and what I was charged) and I could go to his cousin's station in Somerville to pick it up, since I live closer to that station. read more

They do good, economical work, IF you can get them to do it. Their customer service is ATROCIOUS. I took my car there for inspection. When it failed, they said they could fix it for me. Took me three tries - I would show up, they would tell me to come back a different day. I'd come back, and they would say they were too busy and to come back a different day. Finally, they fixed it. We tried to use them to fix our second car. It has now been 2.5 weeks, and they keep saying they will "call back in an hour" and just never call. They act like we should be thankful if they give us the time of day. Never going back here, their prices are good but they treat you like total crap. EDITED TO ADD: The owner then messaged me with a completely fabricated version of what happened - What actually happened was they were supposed to tow our other car and never showed up. I called, and they were extremely rude and basically refused to ever do it. Now he is saying they "apologized but aren't my slaves." First of all, there was no apology. Secondly, expecting you to do the work you agreed to do is not treating you "like my slave." He then fabricated some nonsense about my husband going back and apologizing when I wasn't there - also completely made up. Am more determined than ever to never support this business. read more

The owner is very rude,told me my truck was a piece of shit..he did a oil change to my truck and did not need one ,charged me for it. He put brake fittings on my brake lines instead for taking 10 minutes to bend the brake lines accordingly to my frame. Brake fittings are illegal in Massachusetts. This guy is a snake . If I could give this place 0 stars - I would. DO NOT take your car here, unless you're interested in making a terrible mistake, encountering terrible customer service and ending up with a large bill and crap service. Unfortunately I took my car here to have it inspected. I was advised that the car wouldn't pass inspection because the tint on the windows was to dark. I was also told the only way to pass inspection was to remove the tint. I let the inspector know that the car had factory installed tint, which I assumed would pass any state law tint % in the country. The inspector provided no proof that the tint was past the legal percent allowed. He then said "I can remove it". I needed to get the car to pass inspection, so I reluctantly agreed, not sure what options I had, and trusting this individual as the expert in this matter. He literally tore the tint from the 4 side windows and left all the adhesive glue on the windows. He then charged me for the inspections but also on an additional 30 $ for the "removal of the tint". Afterwards, he said "you can clean the adhesive with Windex". No surprise here, but Windex doesn't remove adhesive. I went to the hard ware store and purchased adhesive removal - after 3 hours - 2 windows are finally fee of the sticky mess, only 3 hours and 2 more windows to go. Upset, and frustrated I did some research. I learned that MA State has a 25% tint law. So I called my dealership. Why on earth would a dealership sell a car that wouldn't pass legal in section? They don't. I learned that the factory installed tint from the dealership on my car meet the 25% requirement. It didn't need to be removed. So not only did this place trash my tint, they charged me for it, and obviously they do not know what the hell they are doing. In my opinion as their customer, they should have provided proof of the current tint percentages, they should have advised what options I had. For example, let me know I could have my tint tested and bring them the results of the test to pass the inspection. They should have NOT removed the tint from my windows and left me with a six hour adhesive clean up job. I will now have to pay several hundred dollars to have the same tint % re-installed on my windows. Terrible and costly service! read more

When I first moved to Salem I had a wonderful auto repair place. When the owner retired and I was looking for a new place I went through some good some bad local places for about three years. About 5 years ago I was in desperate need of help and BP on Jackson street was there to help. They found a reasonable and timely solution to my issue at the time and I have been going there ever since. I personally buy cars that are 3-5 years old and keep them for about 10 years. I have had nothing but honest, responsible care of all my vehicles. Ziad has always been there when I needed him whether it be an emergency repair or something minor. The pricing of repairs whether it has been brakes, an alternator, a battery, cracked headlights has always been more than fair. He works with many extended warranty companies and works tirelessly to get reimbursements as if he is getting back his own money. I will never go anywhere else as the repair/maintenance recommendations are always what is truly needed instead of just bilking the customer for more because the opportunity exists. I have referred them to friends and their experience has been the same excellent customer service and care for their car as mine.
