I went in and said, look, Gus, I'm an old-timer and I don't want to end up broken down by the side of the road. I want 2000 trouble-free miles. His team looked the car up and down -- and found one thing that was going to fail. They never find "extra" problems that fatten their wallets. They know that they're going to do well if they're honest. They fixed that one thing, which would have gone. And I'm back home, in fine fettle. No place is going to be completely perfect -- but we have taken three different cars to them, never had a follow-up problem, never had a bill that seemed unreasonable, and even had him tell us on a number of occasions that he could fix something (and he could!) without an expensive overhaul. Trusting a mechanic? Priceless. -- Richard
