Not to sound like a total schmuck but I've been to every massage place in the world. From the spa at the Roosevelt to Swedish massage in Sweden. Sketchy spots with no signs on the lower east side. The Kilolani spa at the Grand Weilea Maui. Foot spas in Xi'an China. Dumb hippies in Ojai. The list goes on. Some places suck, some places feel great, but almost none provide real lasting results. Superior massage on Van Nuys is a gem. I have legitimate back issues and aroma therapy doesn't cut it. For around $1 a minute there isn't a better deal in Los Angeles. They can re align your shoulder blades, neck and spine by walking on your back. Their experience and technique is second to none. They have released compressed discs that sports chiropractors have had no luck with. Continue limping around or go see Mary. Thank God for Superior Massage. read more

My massage lady was nice, but used TOOOO much elbow. Too much elbow to the point that she kept elbowing my neck as she did my shoulders. Had no plan on which body parts to hit so i had to keep pointing out that she missed the left/right side of whichever body part she was doing at the time. Also used too much oil. It was difficult to tell her what I needed changed because she did not speak English, so I gave up halfway through the massage When I told the receptionist about my experience, she told me I should have told her so she could switch out my masseuse. Unrealistic considering I was oiled up and basically naked the entire time - how was I supposed to go up to reception? Also demanded I give a bigger tip despite telling her I didn't have a good time. Just had an hour full body massage/deep tissue/hot stone ($60) a while ago. I told the front desk about the exact location of my back pain and true enough massage therapist, Jenny, targeted the said area. I heard an alarm which means an hour of service was applied. Hot stone massage and knuckle cracking were a plus. Jenny smiled at me when a $20 tip was given. Front Desk was very accommodating. I believe she owns the place. I would never try it because of it but since our regular place was fully booked we said it's better then nothing and boy we had such a great time! It's been years since I've been to this old fave massage place in the Valley. I brought my friend this time and we raved about our massages after the 1 hr sessions we bought. What used to be $35ish is now $40, but that's more the reflection of times we're in. But - still worth it! The lady who massaged me had a goldilocks touch I wanted - not too soft or hard, just right! My friend had a guy masseuse and she said he was also very thorough and had the harder touch she needed vs a woman masseuse. I might have drooled when she worked on the tension and knots on my neck and back, my arms and I might have went to dreamland when my feet were being massaged. The place is clean and quiet with the usual zen music in the background. The restroom is kept clean so they got it all together. Got a feeling we shall return. read more

Pros- Massage was really good Cons- they make you pay as soon as you come in, which is weird. Also, I gave the lady a $6 tip, which for a $20 foot massage I believed reasonable. She was so upset and ask me for $10! She took me to the front to pay more and I didn't have more cash. No one was able to explain to me what was happening and the guy at the front show no interest on talking to me (also, there is a language barrier- no English) He shush me away because he was watching TV on his phone. He told something to the lady in another language and she left super upset.! Now, I am reading other reviews about the $10 minimum tip!! this is not posted anywhere in the building or menu and they have no website, but apparently is true. $10 is a 50% tip for a $20 foot massage! Horrible! Do not to go to this establishment. I will be calling the board. They are not licensed they are not professionals not even on a experience basis. This was what you call a massage parlor not a massage studio. I went with my girlfriend we got the couples massage just for the foot reflexology arms neck face and head I told her I did not want face neck or head so just arms feet and legs.The entire massage she did the exact same move on every body part with excessive pressure. At one point my girlfriend gave her masseuse directions on how to properly massage her legs and she still could not do it and she had to ask her to stop. They chitchat the entire time and the both of us were being hopeful thinking maybe at the end of this will feel nice and relaxed we are currently headed to another massage spa for a real massage. And as we were leaving out I knew I wasn't going to Tip I knew my girlfriend was not going to tip it as we were saying thank you to walk out she practically grabbed us and said you need to leave at least five dollars for tip. Wish I could leave 0 stars. This is not a bash review but a totally honest one for a place that used to get good massages here pre pandemic and when Coco was around. Mediocre massage which was totally lame. I paid $45 for the massage and gave $5 tip. I was then harassed about paying a $10 tip. It is not worth spending your money here. Go somewhere better where you are not harassed for more tips when you already left one on the charge slip. What I was a fan of: - Nice Staff - Relatively relaxing - Semi Private rooms - Inexpensive - Despite being pregnant, they accommodated - My massage woman was great (I don't know her name though but she greeted us at the desk when we entered). What I wasn't a fan of: - Location isn't wonderful - The massage tables/chairs are janky (my friend and I shared a room and I got a chair and she got a table- BOTH for foot massages. If I were her I would have been majorly uncomfortable). - The last 20 minutes or so, our massage ladies were talking to one another I would recommend this place but I also wouldn't, Ha! I never had a deep tissue massage before. Thought I need one since my back and shoulders ached like hell. I saw the Grand Opening sign so my husband and I walked in and was able to be attended to right away (without an appointment). Walking in there isn't a board or menu that has price options available. Just a letter-sized paper taped to the top of the receptionist desk. But $35 for an hour is not a bad deal at all! So there's the reception/waiting area. Then you walk through a door where there are massage beds for the feet massage. Walk a little further down and there's rows of the massage rooms. The rooms are partitioned with walls for privacy but there's no door - only a drape and no ceiling, so you can hear side chatter from all the other customers. So please limit the amount of talking, or at least whisper. The room is dimmed and there's soothing instrumental music playing. For the most part its quiet until you hear talking. I didn't catch the name of my massouse but she and all the other ladies were very welcoming, accommodating, and polite. Now my experience is a little different from my husband's because he LOVED his session. For me, because I never had a deep tissue, I didn't know what to expect and my deep tissue session was DEEP! HAHAHAHA! If I was a little more tough or if I had asked her to be a little more light with her elbows, heels (yes they step on you), then maybe it would have been more enjoyable. It wasn't a terrible massage.....she definitely worked out the kinks in some areas. But the next day I felt like I got beat up!! My upper back area felt more beat up than I felt before I walked in. Surprised I didn't get any bruises. I did, however, enjoy the leg, feet, and scalp massage. So if you like DEEP tissue and a lot of pressure on your muscles then this place is definitely for you. For now, Superior Massage is more like a 3.5 stars...I will come back and get the reflexology and feet massage. I think I can handle that at least! The police came by to ask for their license as I was paying and none of the ladies had or were able to show proof they had a license. No wonder why my massage was terrible. During my massage the lady kept taking breaks and coming in and out of the room as if that was okay. Next day I had bruises all over my body and I have been sore for a few days now. Not cool. Big elephant in the room: why why why do you ask the customer to pay before the massage? They didn't demand a specific amount of tip the 1st time I went here. This 2nd time, it was a couples massage and they demanded $10 tip for the $40 massage. That's more than 20%. The massage was pretty good although they are a little too harsh on your back especially because they use their elbows a lot. My neighborhood go to. Probably have had 20 massages here in a be last 18 months and with 1 exception absolutely what I needed for relief from too much Steadicam or handheld mopix camerawork. I recommend Coco or Eva if available for their precision healing techniques. It is a superior massage. Do 90 minutes, I find it takes that long to get the best results. My experience was horrible in this place and will tell you why. I have never seen such a bad service. They usually charge 40$ for regular massage. But they made discount 35$. BUT when i sign my check they asked me for tips. I was shocked a little bit. I said i will leave you in the end as cash. Message was just regular. Nothing special. Felt like i could make better by myself. During massage two girls were talking to each other, which is very annoying for me. But it is okay. We decided to give them 5$ for each girl to make them happy. But instead of that they asked me for 10$ tips for each. I was really disappointed. And they asked me to leave 10$ more in my check. I love you, Coco! Really, I do! I went there late at night, I'm sure I was her last appointment and her maasage technique and the strength was the highlight of my birthday! As a seasoned esthetician, I use my body to perform my work and am on my feet 35 hours a week. It wasn't until her massage that I realized how congested my body is with unnecessary lactic acid. Im trying to go on a weekly basis because the price is unbeatable for the hard work she puts into my maasage. And for all those CHEAPSKATES complaining about giving a $10 tip, you're embarrassing! Stop it! Yes, people do try to walk out after services rendered as Ive seen it happen everywhere Ive ever worked in my trade. If I could give this place -5 stars, I definitely would. First and foremost, it's probably the dirtiest place in LA. I live on Hollywood Blvd and even the street is much cleaner than their massage rooms. Then, the massage itself is terrible. I don't know who and how taught them to do massage, but they need to ask for a refund. My bones still ache so bad; I barely can move. I was said massage would be good for my poor back, but seems like it only made thing worse. Please, stay away from this place if you already have problems with bones and muscles. To be honest, I can tolerate dirt and terrible massage. But what I just can't stand is horrible service. First of all, I was asked to pay BEFORE I actually got the service. I was also asked to give them tips before massage! What? After they finished breaking my bones, I was free to go. But I decided to be a nice customer and leave some tips. $7 would be more than enough for this kind of "service", but they said "Oh, but the minimum is $10". I didn't have $10 cash so they wanted me to pay with my credit card. The result: I was charged $10 more for the most terrible service ever. read more
