After two fixes, they still couldn't get it right. If you're having foundation issues, this is the last company I would ever recommend. I discovered in one of the bedrooms a hole and the carpet was separated from the wall, I could put my figures there i thought it was a foundation problem. I looked online to find a foundation company and called my friends for referrals, I got Scott number from my friend, I thought I have foundation issues, I called Scott on Wednesday, he said he will be at my house on Friday morning (and he did not show up late) after an hour that he checked everything he was so honest and told my nothing is wrong with the foundation, its in a good condition, Scott did not charge me anything (not even a service call), he told me what was the problem and how to fix it for very little cost. I was recommended Superior Foundation Repair by some other people in my neighborhood who had also used them. They were very professional, honest and hard working people. Their prices were comparable to the other 4-5 bids I got from other companies, but lower than a few. The reason I really liked them was the product was a steel pier that goes into the bedrock (sometimes 20') then it is welded in place instead of ither companies that use concrete caps on the top that may crack in the future. Their foreman had 30 + years experience and I felt confident he would not cause more damage to my home, if possible. They cleaned up and you could barely tell my house had work done afterwards. As a single mom I was extremely nervous of being taken advantage of and Derrick Green really made me feel like they cared, and wanted to do a good job. He helped make this process go as smoothly as possible. read more

Mike came out to access our foundation failure that his company repaired a year prior. He told me to put liquid nail in the cracks.?!  That is TERRIBLE advice as a professional. This might seem like a smart temporary fix but it is a code violation if you were to try and sell your house this month. He said, 'I've seen this before on previous houses we have done due to us not putting a beam under the chimney area to support the foundation beneath it.' That being the case why continue to do work/repairs that are most likely going to have the same reoccurring problems?!? He told me they weren't going to fix the repair but would for an additional $400 past the $6,000 already paid on the repair. The fireplace being included as part of the original foundation falling under warranty, I don't really feel it's our job or responsibility to pay any additional costs to have this issue repaired. If the job was done correctly by Mike & SFR stands by their quality work/standard, we wouldn't need to add an additional support beam under the foundation this soon after the initial repair. His demeanor sadly was seemed demeaning as if I was a little boy not well versed on the subject matter, when Im actually TREC certified home inspector. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY WHATSOEVER. Superior is great! We had six bids altogether, but Superior lived up to its name! Scott the owner came out very quickly and gave a quote within days. (Olshan, on the other hand, said it would be five weeks to give a quote. Everyone tells me this is because their company was based in San Antonio, but who knows...) Superior did the foundation on my brother's house and my house. They were very professional and fast and good. They use steel beams, which are sturdier than the standard concrete beams, and they drill down up to sixteen feet. The steel beams are reportedly better than the process used by Centex, which uses cement feet that go down in the ground only six feet. Superior sent out a HUGE team if people and finished everything in a day. Yay! The warranty is transferable to new owners and lasts forever. And all our doors open and shut just like they used to. The flood--drought--flood cycle around here can really do a number on people's houses. Initially, we thought we should go with the largest company in order to make sure the warranty would still be honored 40 years later. But, after researching and hearing so much about how the cement-installation process often needs to be updated--sometimes annually(!)--we decided to go with the technology that was built to last. read more

Setting up an appointment was very fast and they were very nice and polite. Scott arrived on time and took some measurements and walked my property with me. He reported I had no issues. I wish I could give 0 stars. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. This one is going to be long... here we go... I chose them to repair the foundation of a house and this was probably my biggest mistake in a very long time. During all the sales process they were very responsive and I was getting my emails and texts answered pretty fast... that's the nice part of the story. The house foundation was in pretty bad shape (more than 9in drop along the house) but they said it could be repaired and leveled to certain guidelines (L/360, 1in drop along 30ft). They started the work a few days after we agreed, but they committed to have it done pretty week in a week. Once the work started everything started to get worse. What was supposed to be a 3-5 day job took more than two weeks. At this point, responsiveness went significantly down but still, I was getting an update every other day. Once they were almost done, I had the chance of being on-site while finishing the job and I clearly understood why all the delays.. They only had ONE crew member on site to finish leveling a 1800 sqft house, who was clearly overloaded and the rest of the crew, two more guys, were just labor guys with no experience at all in foundations. The job was finally done and I was told that everything was ok and that I will get an engineers report on it. I had to wait two weeks for it but I got an engineers report. However, I never got a new plan with the new measurements or engineer's certification that the house was level. By the way, the engineer company is Westbrook Engineering So I also recommend to do not use them at all, because is clear that they don't verify anything at all, they just put a stamp on fancy report, a 375$ one. After a few days, when I had a chance to visit the property that at the time was being remodeled I started to notice that some areas were a bit "off". I started to dig into it with a simple line laser level and afterwards asking previous foundation companies I contacted. Bottom line, they did such a poor job that they couldn't come to their minds what the heck they leveled. The house still has more than 2in gaps across 8-10ft spans which is totally unacceptable. I started contacting with Superior Foundation about it and here is where I relate to many other 1 star reviews... once you have paid for it, or is a warranty matter THEY DISAPPEAR. In four weeks time I managed to get two automatic emails after submitting warranty issues, one call answered after countless calls where they told me they would contact me back (never did); and finally, one mail saying they will visit the property to check on it, to which they never responded, so my guess is that they never went there. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, they beat prices from other steel piers companies but there is a reason, the quality of work, materials and service are sub par. At this point, I'm on my personal fight to get my money back wether is disputing charges or if this doesn't work taking them to the court. It's gonna be fun. read more

The previous owner of our house had foundation repair performed so our warranty transferred with purchase. I was pleasantly surprised with the support we received when we discovered our foundation was lifting due to a disastrous plumbing problem. SFR had measured the slope of the foundation previous to fixing our plumbing which will be serving as a baseline and was able to provide professional advice on how to move forward given our current situation all free of charge. The 4 man crew exceeded my expectations. They showed up at the expected time (7:30 am) and promptly started setup. The lead (Melvin) double checked the readings to ensure supports are properly set in place. He took the time to explain to me why/what he was doing giving me more info than I expected. Although he changed from original location (from original report), the 3rd party inspecting engineer agreed with his assessment. The engineer stated this is the best crew he has worked with in South Texas. Job took a bit longer than expected as they had to dig deeper to get to bedrock (32'). These guys worked very hard and I did my best to share some water and fruit with them. They left around 4:30 pm and they looked pretty tired. I consider myself lucky to have been referred to this company. They provide a lifetime warranty on their work (except for 1 t-bracket) which will transfer to any possible homebuyers in the future. read more

He gave a very thorough and detailed explanation of his findings and a very objective assessment. Superior did the foundation work on the house before I bought it. I was told it had a lifetime transferrable warranty. Within a few months the house was leaning to the front. Multiple cracks in multiple walls. I had them come out, they told me it was fine. Also that the warranty only covered the outer beams. And if I had issues it would likely be from the middle of the house, which they didn't fix so that would be on me. But anyway the leaning was normal according to them. Now a year later, it needs 10K worth of foundation work. According to an independent engineer, the beams superior used were too small and put in too shallow, and was never going to stabilize this house. So i contact Superior who says they can't come out for 2 weeks. It would be pointless to have them come out again anyway. They don't honor the warranty and they clearly don't have any idea what they're doing. Steer clear of this company. Use a reputable foundation company. This one is a scam. I moved to Texas 5 years ago and found my perfect retirement home in Settlers Ridge neighborhood in Pflugerville, however, I was unaware of the expansive clay issue in this region. Last month I discovered my garage was sinking, and I knew the hardest part of dealing with this issue was finding a reputable contractor (process & pricing) to level my foundation. I had four contractors assess my foundation and decided on Superior Foundation for my repair. I concluded that I wanted steel piers and thought Scott Laffery's assessement regarding the placement, and number of piers, best suited my situation. Three weeks later the crew showed up as scheduled and conducted the repair. The crew was polite and focused on the task at hand. They allowed me to watch the process of driving the steel piers--8 feet into bedrock. I was amazed at the process, and the expertise, to which they conducted their work. Additionally during the process an engineer showed up at the sight to assess the work. Four hours later my garage was raised and leveled to it original position. I have every confidence that my home is stabilized and will no longer have issues. I live in a neighborhood known for poor soil conditions. When we first started seeing signs of settling we had Superior out to take a look. They were honest and their pricing was reasonable. What I really liked was that they drive steel piers all the way down to bedrock. In our case 25'! This is compared to other foundation companies who I learned use small concrete cylinders stacked on top of one another. Since all they do is compact the soil they have the propensity to settle with the soil. What really impressed me was that Superior was in and out in ONE day! YELP - SFR (Superior Foundation Repair) After seeing SFR's (Superior Foundation Repair) glowing ratings in YELP I wondered why I didn't experience the good things that others received. I think potential customers should know about my experiences with them. Essentially they did the following: - Failed to provide an engineering report after I paid them $375 for such after their first incomplete work. Later, I had to pay out of pocket $350 flor a reputable emngineering report. That's $725. - Failed to take any measurements on the foundation initially and did so only after the potential buyer's inspector found problems not covered by their job. - Failed to put in enough piers to shore up the back and east side of the house _Agreed to put in needed piers at the back and side of the duplex and half the costs with me but reneged and denied making the agrement. I have a witness to their initial agreement. -Paid $200 to a lawyer to seek help in dealing with SFR. - Made it impossible for me to close the sale of the property which cost me three months rent worth $2700 -Caused me to spend over $200 in utilities for the stalled sale. Throughout the process they would not answer my phone calls and emails. They apparently had no desire to make things right. I wanted to work it our but they did not read more

We were in the process of trying to sell a property and were directed to get a foundation inspection from CENTEX - Afterwards it was revealed that the house had major issues. CENTEX tried very hard to pressure us into signing on right there and then. After talking to experts in the area (structural engineers) we went out and got 3 more quotes. CENTEX had proposed the "cheaper" method. The other companies proposed to use steel which would be better in the long haul. Superior gave us a quote for the better steel method which was cheaper then CENTEX's "affordable" option. Superior started the job a day early and were able to finish later that week even though there was bad weather. They even brought in two crews to try and finish it ahead of time. The work itself was well done - They took great pains to insure that there would be minimal collateral damage. The staff in the office and on site were professional and took great care of us and our property. While foundation repair is something no one wants to deal with it was nice to work with a company like Superior who were able to fix the problem and give us top notch service. read more

As mentioned in our Home Savers and Perma Jack reviews, we contacted Superior Foundation to get an estimate on leveling the foundation of a 2 storey duplex that was sinking mainly towards 1 corner allegedly due to the drought. The 2 guys we dealt with primarily were Colin and Brent. I think it was Colin who measured the slants in the slab and they produced an estimate a few days later of $6,000.00, which we could put on a credit card, which makes things easier. Their estimate included a top view drawing of the slab similar to that produced by Perma Jack except they placed piers regularly along all sides, leaving no empty trouble spots as did Perma Jack. They considered it ridiculous that Perma Jack claimed the opposite side was lower than the one we all knew was sinking. And they proved it by showing their level as it measured the foundation height. I was told by one of these guys that they pushed the pipes all the way down to bedrock. Later, I learned that they indeed did not necessarily do this, but did the same thing as Perma Jack and stopped sinking pipe when the machine could no longer push down at 10,000 psi. They simply assume this is bedrock, though it could be the top of a buried Cadillac. Or simply less mushy Texas gumbo. But what sold us on these guys, in addition to the easier price and payment, was what we considered an unusually high level of sincerity and businesslike behavior they exhibited. There was no arrogance and no condescension and when they said they would call back at 10 am Tuesday, they did it, no excuses, no bullshit. We felt they answered most questions the best way they could. And when they began the job they were on time except for a brief interval of rain that stopped the excavations. And they had the lifetime transferable warranty with no weaseling. We watched the work periodically over a couple of days and saw their crew was well disciplined, fast and used to cooperating with each other, which is necessary when jacking up a foundation since it helps prevent nasty surprises. This work proceeded in December of 2011 and we believe the structure is still adapting. But when they were raising the foundation we could see cracks in tile inside the building closing up and the door jams righted themselves so the latches no longer fit. They fixed the latches. They, too, wanted to break through the concrete in the driveways to place piers. We told them we wanted clean saw cuts around the holes they made so a proper concrete fill could be accomplished afterwards - with beveled breaks, etc. But this was not done. Instead they did what we feared they would do - slap new concrete into the holes and trowel it around and into all the jagged unevenness of what the jackhammer had done. We know from experience that in a couple years that concrete will separate from the old slab and be unsightly and need repair. They filled in some of the areas where holes were made in the soil in a careless way - leaving large rocks atop the ground where grass should grow, etc. These so far are the main complaints we have had with their work. But unless something bad happens in the future, we would do business with them again -but more carefully and put the concrete issue in writing. read more

Delightfully Honest! Although I have had no work done by Superior Foundation Repair, I credit that to the company. Their representative, Scott, came to my house yesterday to assess the foundation -- and to my amazement, found nothing wrong. I had been under the impression that I had a cracked slab, along with a slanting room that caused one door to automatically close -- and was therefore expecting the worst. Scott measured my entire house very efficiently and let me know that it was within a 1/2-inch of optimum. The "cracked slab" ended up to be a carpet pad that had completely separated (which he even helped me pull up), and the door was just poorly plumbed. I am truly thankful for the truthfulness shown by this company and would not hesitate to call them if I ever need work done in the future. read more

I used Superior Foundation Repair two years ago to have part of my foundation repaired and I had a great experience with Mike; I even chose Superior Foundation Repair based off their excellent reviews on yelp. Unfortunately, something has drastically changed about this company and I am writing now to forewarn folks to not waste their time. So this is what happened to us: we need to now replace all the piers on our foundation and I immediately emailed Superior Foundation Repair to see if Mike could come out (he was the first one I contacted); Mike responded and said he thought he could make it out on Monday and that he would let me know, but he never emailed me back. I thought that was strange and unlike him because that's not the experience I had with him two years ago. Two weeks pass and I decide to write him back to let him know that if he's super busy I understand, but to just let me know, and that if he's not busy, my husband could take off from work to meet him the following week. To my surprise, he responds that same day and said that next week sounded good and that things should dry up by then (we had experienced a lot of rain in May), but he never followed up and I did not hear from until 8 days later (at this point, I am wondering why is this happening and why he would be so inconsiderate). So we finally get Mike out to the house and it was the nice Mike I remembered so I was willing to forget how elusive he was. Without even looking under the house, he said he would send us a quote and he also informed us that the flooding we were experiencing on one side of our yard would have NO impact on our new foundation (all the other foundation companies we've had out have addressed the flooding and made suggestions). So before Mike leaves, he promises to have a quote to us over the weekend. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM! I emailed him three days later to check in and he said he needed some information from his boss, but that he would have the quote before Friday. The quote never arrives!!!!! He then emails me five days later to say that he would have the quote to me by 8am the next morning. Once again, the quote never arrives!!!! Why in the world would he waste our time and string us along like this? And we were prior clients!!!! I will never contact Superior Foundation Company again. As someone mentioned already, there is no way a company can treat people like this and be in business much longer. read more

We did a renovation a few years ago. Our slab had a major tilt and the job required drilling through the slab in multiple places in the house. This was a very significant project. These guys were great. Their crews worked fast and they were very thorough. Superior Foundation Repair may or may not be talented in fixing foundations, but their crews are pushy, rude, and inconsiderate of the effects their activities have on the inhabitants, their plants, and their pets. They are currently leveling the apartments where I have lived for 3 years. They were not supposed to be working on units which still had tenants but did so without warning scaring one of my cats so badly that she has run away and cannot be found. They appeared without warning and began to uproot plants throwing them out into 100+ degree sun to die. When I asked their crew chief to please not work on my unit the following day as I had been promised that they would not until I had vacated, he promised to stop after the pier he had already begun. When I walked out to see why jackhammering was coming from my garden area, I found more plants destroyed and him working on another pier on my building. He was rude and totally unconcerned as to the effects his actions were having on my delicate health and my pets sanity. Free call Scott every time we think there's an issue with the foundation. Many times he will tell us that the foundation is in good shape and does not need any repairs. One star because there is nothing lower. This company repaired my foundation and gave me a "lifetime" warranty in 2009. Well, new cracks have appeared. It took them four months to come out and inspect the damage -- another month to have their "specialist" evaluate the situation and then they offered me an estimate -- at twice the original -- to fix the "other side" of the house (they say only half of the house was under warranty). read more
