He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cared about making sure we found the right fit. The kids' trade-in program was such a fantastic idea and made upgrading to a new bike so much easier. From the friendly service to the thoughtful programs, Alameda Bicycle truly sets the standard for what a local bike shop should be. Disappointing assembly quality and warranty service…read more I bought a new road bike with Shimano 105 from Alameda Bicycle, but the setup quality was very poor. Right at pickup, the hydraulic brakes felt spongy. The mechanic told me to just ride it out, but after 100 miles of riding, it hadn't improved. During those rides some issues were also revealed: the shifting was rough, the drivetrain was noisy due to poor alignment, and a twisted brake hose was rubbing and scratching the frame. I brought it back under their 90-day guarantee, but the shifting and noise came back worse, and the brakes weren't addressed at all. I eventually spent hours fixing everything myself after purchasing tools and watching countless guides on YouTube. Lots of bubbles came out when I bled the brakes. Now that I properly bled the brakes and adjusted the derailleurs, the bike works great. No thanks to Alameda Bicycle though. Very disappointing build and service for a brand-new purchase.

I can't say enough great things about AJ and his shop! My partner and I were looking for a new road…read morebike and decided to check out AJ's Family Cyclery, even though it's a smaller, newer shop compared to larger corporate stores like Trek or Mike's Bikes. Being right across the street from our neighborhood, we figured it was worth a visit--and we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, AJ welcomed us with enthusiasm and genuine positivity. His customer service has been exceptional throughout our entire bike-buying journey. He took the time to understand what we were looking for, let us test ride a road bike, and patiently answered all our questions. Then, he casually suggested we try out one of his electric mountain bikes, given the great trails in the area. We took him up on that offer--and wow, are we glad we did! That test ride completely changed our minds, and we quickly realized an e-mountain bike was the perfect fit for us. AJ is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and transparent. He spent hours helping us explore different options without ever making us feel pressured to buy. Unlike most bike shops that limit test rides to their parking lot, he let us fully experience both road and electric mountain bikes, which made all the difference in our decision. On top of that, he has been super responsive--even outside of business hours--via text, email, and social media. Thanks to AJ, we found the perfect bike that not only fit our needs but also came in well under budget without sacrificing quality. His passion for what he does shines through in every interaction, and his commitment to customer satisfaction is truly unmatched. Working with him has been an absolute breath of fresh air--you just don't find this level of service anywhere else. If you're considering buying a bike, do yourself a favor and visit AJ's Family Cyclery. Not only will you get expert guidance and outstanding service, but you'll also feel great about supporting a genuinely good person and his small business. He absolutely deserves all the success coming his way!

A special thanks to David and Will for taking such great care of my bike. They performed a complete tune-up, installed a pair of brand-new Panaracer GravelKing tires, and replaced my pedals. I've always been a big fan of REI because they genuinely provide personalized service, especially for us cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. This location is an excellent example of what makes REI so special. Over the years, I've purchased much of my hiking and camping gear here, including one of my favorite Trailmade sleeping bags, which has accompanied me on many adventures. I also appreciate REI's quality Co-op branded products, reasonable prices, and the fantastic sales they offer throughout the year. If you're looking for knowledgeable staff, outstanding bike service, and quality outdoor gear, I highly recommend this REI location. Cheers!
