Convenient hours for working dog parents . Clean Facility, safe set up . My kids are welcome to attend and participate, and we're ALL learning. . Martha is a wonderful teacher/coach/support. She is patient, she explains the how and the why regarding our puppy's behavior. In addition to learning basic commands, and going over safety guidelines, we are provided with a plethora of tips about happy and healthy dogs. Martha has 4 dogs of her own. She's empathetic, down to earth, very honest, and makes the class fun with her upbeat personality and stellar sense of humor. I love when the hour is coming to a close, and we have the opportunity to ask questions. It's been a great experience, and we are enjoying our sessions at Dodger's Paws very much.

My dog Hobi took a class here in September 2020. That was during Covid, so there were no real…read moreoptions at that time. It was quite a drive for a puppy. They didn't really have any suggestions to help with that. Also, the classes are outside in a warehouse with an open garage door, so it was freezing. I had to dress my dog in a sweater, and I could barely stand to be on the cement floor for the duration. But here's the thing: my dog is a Maltese. Like all Maltese, he is barky, a bit whiney, and a very picky eater. Small dogs are often not food motivated. They had no idea how to deal with that. They would continually ask us to leave because we were a disruption. We literally got kicked out of every class! It was a dog training class, and he wasn't well behaved enough for it? I mean, they knew he was a Maltese when we signed up and paid the hefty price. If what you train is Labs then fine, say so and don't take my money. This is probably a great place to go if you have a lab or a big, food motivated dog, but if you have a small dog then don't waste your time and money. Look elsewhere.

She helped us understand how to channel all that puppy energy in the right direction and ease our concerns when we felt frustrated -- and we felt frustrated A LOT. With guidance and consistency, Marlo not only earned his STAR Puppy Certificate but also his Canine Good Citizen certification--something we honestly doubted would ever happen. Within ONE HOUR, Toshi was able to tolerate the harness, and for the FIRST TIME since he came home, he let me brush him for a minute straight without biting me!!! We got so many great tips and a list of homework to work on until our second private session later this week before we start our AKC STAR Puppy classes (already secured the date!) But they're currently at the Alameda County Fair for the first time (in 2024), adorable pups with names like Chewbarka, catching frisbees, high jumping, freestyle dog dancing, going through an obstacle course, and dog diving into a pool of water. I didn't know what to expect, but have got to say this is such an adorable show, better than I could have imagined. They mainly only bring out one dog at a time, and give it a lot of love and attention. The trainers share the stories of these dogs and how they were adopted, special circumstances, and more. And they also teach the audience how to do little tricks to train their own dogs (for any pet owners out there) while demonstrating as part of the show. You can tell that these dogs are treated well and enjoy the attention. The show is entertaining for sure, but the way the dogs and trainers work together is just heartwarming, so much joy and pride, whether or not the dog succeeds with a stunt. I would easily return to see this again. The bleachers fill up fast 10-15 minutes before showtime, so arrive early to secure a good view at the Alameda County Fair (or wherever you find them performing).

They also offer special enrichment packages like cuddle time or a sniffing game. Camp bow-wow was our lifesaver in June when we went overseas for 3…read moreweeks and needed a place to keep our very anxious Chihuahua-terrier mix (Happy) safe and healthy. Happy came from a shelter and was terribly afraid of new people and new dogs, and I was quite worried she might starve herself once she was separated from us and left in a new place. We signed up for two daily enrichment sessions and took her to Bow-wow several times before dropping her off for the full 3-week stay. The camp counselors told us that she did mostly starve for the first 3 days, but by day 4 she started cleaning her plate at every meal (we asked them to feed her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to make sure she didn't go too long without food). And by day 5 we could see her on the webcam jumping onto the play structure, wagging her tail and barking happily at the other dogs in the teacup room (the room for small dogs). She was queen of the pack! (Well, that's what she seemed to think) And it's all because Amy, Daniel, Nazareth, and the whole team at Bowwow gave her such exceptionally good care every day. We loved being able to check on her via webcam every morning from overseas, and the daily email reports we got on her enrichment sessions (which always had pics and videos of her) gave us huge comfort during our vacation. We can't say enough good things about Camp Bowwow and the exceptionally skilled and compassionate team of counselors there. Thank you, Camp Bow-wow!

My 2 pups have never been to a daycare or boarding facility before. So, this was a big step for…read morethem. They are both good with dogs at dog parks, been socialized with other pups fine too. However, my girl has been used for service dog work and always with me. We got our second dog this year and they are great playmates at home as she's not needed to work unless I'm indoors.. We are traveling next March for baseball and trying to cover all bases. We will be staying at a dog friendly home, and saw a Camp Bow Wow in AZ a half mile from our stay. Thought it might be more fun for the dogs to go there then stay home 4-5 hours in a strange place so we should check out our local franchise. The staff here was amazing. Very lovely people and encounters with everyone we spoke with. One of the gals mentioned she brings her own fur baby sometimes and that says enough that she trusts the care and treatment here for her own family. So how did mine do? Well, I had my girl go in first. Our second pup has learned to follow her and thought that would be the best introduction for them as he always wants to go where she does. It doesn't help I just too her to the vet for the vaccines needed to visit and had her nails done and anal glands at the same time.. I think she felt the same stress coming here a couple days later. They said she tried to nip when they put her with other pups, but they let her calm down and relax a bit and then she went in and did just fine. Oddly our newest rescue that shakes at every new experience went in just fine.. again, he knew she was there already, so that went okay. I thank the team here for letting my pups destress and go in with the other. My boys dog looked like he was doing leaps and bounds with others on the doggie cam.. it's a bummer my girl just wanted to lay by the gate and wait 4 hours for me. She didn't cry or do anything bad, nor did Camp Bow Wow, she just wasn't thrilled to be there. I was my big bow get some pats and loves as he will run up for attention, but she didn't get any, and I watched the whole time she was gone (yes, It was a big deal for me too to be away from her).. Not sure if they aren't allowed to go up and pet or comfort dogs that are just laying in the corner, but it would be nice if the did. I will take them back a few more times here in Livermore and see how my girl does. I'm not sure he would do great there without her but might try that too as another option. I just appreciate the people here that didn't give up on letting my pups give doggy daycare a try.

I've caught them at a bunch of fairs and festivals throughout the bay area and beyond, over the…read moreyears, and they are definitely a consistent act. In fact, I've seen the show multiple times at the Alameda County Fair alone, including this past weekend, and they never cease to amaze me. The announcer gets the crowd involved and brings the humor, can't get enough of those clever and silly pork puns. And those little piggies are adorable athletes, well trained in running the track and leaping over hurdles, and appear to be well taken care of too. A charming half hour of entertainment, fun for all ages. Get there at least 15 minutes early to get a good viewing spot (or any seats at all). This show is super popular and gets crowded, and for good reason.
