He soon evolved into a ball of energy with increased enthusiasm and decreased focus. Angela welcomed him with such patience, kindness, and skill. She helped us understand how to channel all that puppy energy in the right direction and ease our concerns when we felt frustrated -- and we felt frustrated A LOT. With guidance and consistency, Marlo not only earned his STAR Puppy Certificate but also his Canine Good Citizen certification--something we honestly doubted would ever happen. What we appreciated most about Naughty to Nice was how supported we felt as new puppy parents. They celebrated every milestone with us and gave us the confidence to continue building on Marlo's learnings. Marlo indeed went from naughty to nice all thanks to this incredible team.

He overall is very eager to learn and was doing well with his early obedience training but definitely runs the house. We got so many great tips and a list of homework to work on until our second private session later this week before we start our AKC STAR Puppy classes (already secured the date!) I cannot thank them enough for their tips, their kind words and efforts towards Toshi and I am confident to believe he will be a great dog with the right tools.

One thing I especially appreciate is that he offers both indoor and outdoor training, since my dog, Oscar, behaves very differently outside with distractions around him. While he listens well indoors, my commands sometimes seem to go "in one ear and out the other" outside, and Adam really focuses on addressing those real-life challenges. I also have two dogs, and even though the training is primarily for Oscar, Adam has gladly provided helpful tips and guidance for my second dog as well. After each session, he sends detailed notes so I can continue practicing with Oscar throughout the week, which has been incredibly helpful. Adam is flexible, accommodating with scheduling, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. I recommend Pawsitive Interactions to anyone looking for a skilled and supportive dog trainer.

It was so bad that walks were not fun, they were embarrassing. He'd see another dog and bark, jump around and look viscous. I tried another dog training company, but all they did was teach me how to feed treats to my dog. Zero progress was made, and I was discouraged. Then I found Joshua Kaplan. We began making progress on our first session. After two weeks, Koda was showing a 70% improvement! By six weeks, I called Koda "cured"! Koda and I can walk anywhere, anytime without him going crazy around other dogs. It is now a joy to walk my dog; much more fun. We are now 10 weeks in and even my wife can control Koda. About the fence fighting...before, he would bark and jump on the fence, scaring everyone including my neighbors. Now after ten weeks, Koda still wants to bark, but doesn't really...We are now at the point where he runs up and down the fence line whining, and just a little quiet squeak of a bark. No more jumping on the fence. Serious progress from where we started, and it's only 10 weeks! Thanks to Joshua! Joshua made all the difference. He's direct, to the point, but not forceful. Super patient as I ask about a billion qHe explains all instructions in great detail and answers all my questions to my complete satisfaction. Best dog training experience ever!

While we were comfortable training her the basics, such as sit, down, come, etc. on our own, we were looking for a dog trainer that understands her breed mix and to give us guidance on training her properly, because after all, it is the owners' responsibility to make sure their dog is well-behaved in public. We know there are many puppy obedience classes, but we knew with her shy personality that a group setting would not be comfortable for her. We happened to find Joshua on a Facebook page where other dog owners had recommended him. So, we called him up and discussed what we wanted to do with our dog. We wanted her to be great on recall, loose leash walking, and taking her downtown with us. He explained his training methods and made sure we understood what was needed for training. There was absolutely no pressure from Joshua on immediately starting. We had 5 sessions with Joshua but felt like we only needed 4. This is how good of a dog trainer he is. He got us to feel comfortable with letting our dog off leash in a wide open space during the second session. His methods on training recall are incredible and extremely effective. Never in my mind would I thought I would be able to let a puppy off leash that quick. We went downtown and had coffee while training our dog to sit next to us and be patient. Loose leash walking is still a work in progress but that was to be expected. Not only has Joshua taught us the knowledge in training our dog, but it has also helped our dog build her confidence and become her goofy, happy go lucky self. In just 3 months, we have complete trust in her being off leash and she loves meeting new people and making doggie friends. I could not be prouder of how far our dog has come in such a short amount of time, and we have Joshua to thank for that.

He took the time to explain not only what to do but why it works, which helped us feel much more confident continuing the training at home. He now heels and walks right next to us instead of constantly tugging on the leash, which has made walks so much more enjoyable. It's clear Anthony genuinely cares about the dogs he works with and wants both the puppy and the owner to succeed. We truly appreciate Anthony's help!

As a first-time puppy owner, I wasn't sure what to expect or if puppies just naturally outgrow certain behavioral issues. Either way, this is the only formal training she has ever had, and the results speak for themselves. She came back so incredibly well-behaved. And has reminded well behaved. When we go out in public, people always come up to see her because she's cute, but what they *constantly* comment on is how exceptionally well-behaved she is for an 8-month-old puppy. It is so validating to hear that from strangers! I love and fully agree with Anthony's methods and what he does here. If you want a well-behaved dog, Powerhouse K9 is the only place to go. Highly recommend! Full disclosure: I have a pure poodle and they are known to be smart. I brought her to PowerHouseK9 initially at 4.5 months, only weeks after adopting her so my reviews are specific to this. I cannot speak to any other situation or dog breed.

Our usual tricks with trying to redirect her attention or to stop the herding behavior (with the kids, we don't herd the kids, Lola!) were going unmatched and we knew we needed help. We started with in home private lessons with Rochelle. Some of what she taught us was a bit "duh" because we weren't thinking outside of the box, but also much of it was teaching us to be better dog owners, to tune into our dog and meet her where she was at. The 1:1 training was truly beneficial as Rochelle was able to come into our home and witness the behaviors we needed help with. Over the course of several weeks we became better dog owners and Lola learned lots of new things. We then transitioned to group classes with Rochelle which I admit the mere idea of stressed me out. Lola had never done well in public and was often triggered by too many (often random) things. But to my surprise Lola performed amazingly. She often lost her marbles about 30-40 mins into each group class but the other amount of time she was spot on and eager to learn. I am so proud that she was able to be handled by Rochelle on a few occasions and has become a confident dog who thrives in the outside social world. I will forever be grateful to Rochelle for teaching ME how to be a better dog owner and for showing me the potential Lola always had.

Disappointing experience -- not what I paid $2,000 for…read more I hired this trainer specifically to work on my dog's reactivity toward other dogs and her difficulty socializing. This was the main reason I was looking for a professional trainer, and I discussed this during our initial consultation. I paid $2,000 for an unlimited-session package. At the time, I was a nursing student working part-time, so I was grateful that she offered a payment plan because $2,000 was a significant amount of money for me. The first couple of sessions were in my home, which I understood because I assumed she wanted to meet my dog and get a better understanding of her behavior. However, the sessions were only around 30 minutes. Around the 4th or 5th session, she had me drive to a park in Oakland to meet her, which was already a considerable drive for me. She brought her own dog so we could finally work on my dog's reactivity around another dog. After she brought her dog to meet mine, the experience and sessions changed significantly. The interaction was very short--around 10-15 minutes--and the session ended shortly afterward. From my perspective, it seemed like she was not comfortable or confident handling my dog's reactivity once she actually experienced it firsthand. I reached out afterward because I wanted clarification about whether she was actually equipped to work with my dog's reactivity. She told me that she only taught manners in the home. That was extremely frustrating because dog reactivity was the primary reason I hired her in the first place. I explained what I needed during our consultation, and I would not have paid $2,000 for an unlimited package if I had understood that working on dog reactivity was outside the scope of what she provided. I ultimately requested a refund because I felt that the service I received did not match what I understood I was paying for. She told me that reactivity training (behavior modification) was not included in the contract. my concern is that this was specifically discussed during our consultation before I committed to the package. I was a student working part-time when I hired her, and $2,000 was a significant investment for me. I trusted that I was paying for help with the exact behavioral issue I had explained from the beginning. I'm sharing my experience so other dog owners--especially those with reactive dogs--can make sure they get very clear, written confirmation that dog reactivity training is specifically included in the services before committing to an expensive training package.
