Ok, so this needs to be updated but i can't go above 5 stars. This new location is beyond amazing!…read more I originally came here after moving back from Chicago and then moving to Los Angeles (Beverly Hills). I fly home to Syracuse to see Ashley. I'm not kidding. I schedule my vacations around it. The thing is.. over those 8 years my life took some massive downs (some ups) - Ashley became one of the most true and honest people in my life. My cancer treatment started and I decided to cut my hair short - and she did that cut for me (free). My mom died and she reached out and said "come relax and get your hair done - you'll need it before the services" That's someone who truly cares (again didn't charge was just being a good person). She has become a trusted friend, and honestly my hair has never looked better. I cheated on her recently my (ex) doesn't understand how hair works and how it's a part of you (no fault he is almost bald). Ashley did my hair yesterday and we went for a pride theme! OMG. It's insane! This is magazine ready and I'm no supermodel! Marisa's is a creative space where all are included! I've met Marisa maybe 2x and she's a delight!

This review pertains only to my experience with Karin Jean's Total Body Waxing, located inside…read moreMarisa's. Karin Jean has been my waxer for at least 7 years. Before I found her on a whim during my sophmore year of college, I typically got my eyebrows waxed at various nail salons. Unfortunately, I have very sensitive skin and those experiences rarely ended well. Karin's room is cozy and eclectic, which mirrors her personality. During the appointment, she usually has good music playing in the background. She is meticulous and takes her time, which leads to great results. I wouldn't see anyone else for waxing services!

If I was able to do a happy dance in my review, I would. Rachel was able to fix another salon's…read morecolor disaster. While I'm a 'Cuse alum don't want orange and blue hair and Rachel took care of me without missing a beat. She listened to what I wanted and delivered.... absolutely love my hair color and will be back. So Rachel gets 5 stars for her fantastic colorist/stylist skills and her great personality. My only complaint was with another stylist who was aggressively grousing about her cell phone, yelling across the salon to another stylist. Her actions made me very tense, and sad but true, in our society today it's scary when someone you don't know is aggressively waiving something around over their head (phone in this instance), yelling and stomping across the salon. Very unprofessional and off-putting.

I've been here twice - once for a massage and once for a mani/pedi. The for the mani/pedi: They…read morehad no slippers for my feet so I had to walk around barefoot after the pedi (to the mani table). There were no yoga blocks for the pedicure so I had to hold my leg in the air by myself for ten minutes at a time. That was a workout for me, and I know my mom wouldn't have been able to do it. They have no dryers (!) so when your hands are done you can either blow on your nails with your mouth or sit and wait for them to air dry. For the mani they sit you on a short, uncomfortable bench and pull the table away from you so you're leaning outward and hurting your back. Also, they don't take your payment until afterward, so your nails (which aren't fully dry because there's no dryer) get ruined trying to get into your wallet. Re the massage: it was a combo sauna/massage experience and they offered a threadbare robe with someone else's hair on it. They expect you to wait in the sauna until your masseuse is ready. I ended up calling the front desk from my cell phone to ask what was going on. I was escorted to an open area where I had to wait and everyone was dressed except for me (I don't mind wearing a robe if we're all in a spa, but this was just weird). And I was carrying my wet boots, clothes, and purse with me while trying to stay covered in my very short robe. When they were finally ready for the massage I had to ask for help carrying everything into the room. Just not a great experience. The massage was okay but it was too light and she never asked if the pressure was okay. Also, if you at all need to hold onto a railing down the stairs, DON'T USE THEIR STAIRS. The railing is not properly installed. If you are holding onto it while going down, at one point it sits flush against an overhang and you will jam your fingers between the railing and the overhang and hurt yourself. They do have an elevator, so definitely ask to use that. Also, twice there was no one at the front desk (reception) and I had to yell loudly to get someone to come to the front (no one could hear over the hair dryers). Will not be going back and I recommend you don't, either!
