I was not expecting the kind of aesthetic that I walked into. The salon is well lit, but not too much where you feel like you look ill in the mirror and it has such a cozy feel. Everyone seemed nice and welcoming. Mallory was waiting up front for me, greeted and introduced herself and then set up her station. We then went over the color I was looking for and type of cut. Not only did she take into account what I actually wanted done, but she explained everything and let me know why a certain decision was being made over another. She is currently an apprentice so her mentor came over to check on us a couple of times but she was doing great and barely needed guidance. The service took a little longer than we both expected but she was determined to get everything done so I could walk out happy. I'm definitely going back to her in a few weeks.

I'm stoked to see that (at least for a limited time) they are offering 50% off blowouts mid-week and mid-day. I'll be in soon to take advantage of this! Parking can be wonky, and is available either on the street (pay at the meters) or behind the salon if you're lucky. Its very frustrating..OH and then getting your heartbroken when you find THE ONE and she decides to quit cutting hair and go back to school... noooo, don't improve your life...I need a haircut...come baaack!! I digress...I knew I wanted to go to an Aveda salons try their products, my hair has been through the ringer with the crap products I put in it...and a place close by my house with later hours...hello Bambu. I was greeted by my stylist, Celisa, and shown where the bathroom was to wash my hands (this is definitely going to be the new norm). I sat down and we discussed what I want to do with my hair now (pre wedding) and what my future goals are (short, blue hair). I explained my frustration with massive hair loss lately. I appreciate that she didn't push me to buy Aveda products, but told me to research her product suggestion and gave me some tips that I could do (e.g, massage scalp, rise with cool water to close cuticles). We decided on not doing a full haircut because I want my hair long for my wedding and doing a much needed hair conditioning treatment. I totally recommend doing a treatment..nice little scalp massage and hot towel for 10 or so minutes (I was so relaxed I kind of snoozed). I loved my experience here at Bambu and I hope that Celisa will be my hairstylist forever (or at least till I move T.T). I can't wait to come back in 6 weeks! Odds and ends: Parking directly in the back or meter on the street. Masks are required and all staff are wearing them. They have hand sanitizer and sanitize the washing station immediately after each customer. They seem to space customers out, so we were not right next to each other. Celisa had another customer after me and I noticed she put her at another station since the chair I wasn't at wasn't sanitized yet. You guys are awesome!

The first time the stylist FRIED my hair with bleach and I was stuck in the studio for 7hours while she did at least 6 other heads of hair. Yesterday morning I called and asked for an ASAP sew-in appointment and was told by the owner, Neesheka, 5pm was the only time, to which I agreed. After several scheduling calls, the situation escalated when Neesheka, called again at 2:29 to demand that I drop what I was doing and come in at 2:30, instead of 5pm like I was originally scheduled. I wasn't able to make it at that time, to which Neesheka verbally harassed me saying that I could either come immediately or not be styled at the 5pm appointment because she was "holding the store open for me". I said that was never my intention and asked why she would offer me the 5pm to begin with and also if there were any times that reflected the work I wanted done. She snapped at me and said since I wasn't satisfied I should just not come in at 5pm or at all... this weekend or ever again. I explained that I wasn't arguing, but I was confused about the appointment time and subsequent style. I still needed the appointment because I'm getting married and she begrudgingly booked me for an 8am appointment today, very clearly quoting me "$150" (I know this because she spelled it out like I am an idiot '1-5-0.'). I arrived at 8am with the hair detangled, separated by wafts and washed. I then had to wait 20minutes for my stylist to arrive. I received a SEW-IN NO STYLE THAT TOOK 1.5HOURS, and a LEAVE OUT INSTEAD OF A CLOSURE. Regardless, I accepted the style without complaint, thanked the staff and proceeded to the front. Upon check out, I saw the stylist quoted me $180 for the service. I politely asked the owner about the difference in price, explaining I had expected the $150 originally quoted, she snapped at me YET AGAIN. This time Neesheka loudly proclaimed that I was "HAGGLING, and DIDN'T have the THIRTY DOLLARS", it was my "FAULT FOR NOT ASKING THE STYLIST THE PRICE BEFORE" and she "OPENED EARLY FOR ME" (the appointment time she offered) and so I "SHOULD JUST NEVER COME BACK". This owner is extremely unprofessional, and made a scene in front of at least 20 people, causing me to TEAR UP. Neesheka called me 5 times yesterday to set up an appointment, clearly showing that she didn't have a handle on the situation and then grew irritated that I wasn't able to accept half a service or come in at the drop of a hat. During this interaction she treated me, the customer, with such disrespect that even her HUSBAND looked ashamed of the behavior, repeatedly stepping in- an attempt to deescalate her lack of respect and aggressive communication. I had already planned on not returning after my hair was fried to a crisp, only coming in today due to the availability, but the behavior of the owner(s) solidified that I will never return. Neesheka's ghetto attitude, quickness to grow loud, and inability to properly schedule is detrimental reflection on both her business and character. !!WORST SALON I'VE BEEN TO IN QUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM!!
