I hit up Bambu for lip waxes & blow-outs, and I've never left disappointed. My stylists are consistently on-time, friendly, and get me out the door looking way more polished than when I entered. And, as is the case with any good Aveda salon I love the perks of Aveda tea, and a hand massage w/select services. Please don't do away w/these...ever...it makes the experience just a little bit more wonderful and set Aveda salons apart! I'm stoked to see that (at least for a limited time) they are offering 50% off blowouts mid-week and mid-day. I'll be in soon to take advantage of this! Parking can be wonky, and is available either on the street (pay at the meters) or behind the salon if you're lucky. Don't bet on being lucky, and give yourself an extra 2-3 minutes on your way there to figure it out. read more

Finding a hairstylist is not one of my favorite things to do. I've unfortunately have had bad luck finding someone to listen to what I want and actually executing my wishes. Its very frustrating..OH and then getting your heartbroken when you find THE ONE and she decides to quit cutting hair and go back to school... noooo, don't improve your life...I need a haircut...come baaack!! I digress...I knew I wanted to go to an Aveda salons try their products, my hair has been through the ringer with the crap products I put in it...and a place close by my house with later hours...hello Bambu. I was greeted by my stylist, Celisa, and shown where the bathroom was to wash my hands (this is definitely going to be the new norm). I sat down and we discussed what I want to do with my hair now (pre wedding) and what my future goals are (short, blue hair). I explained my frustration with massive hair loss lately. I appreciate that she didn't push me to buy Aveda products, but told me to research her product suggestion and gave me some tips that I could do (e.g, massage scalp, rise with cool water to close cuticles). We decided on not doing a full haircut because I want my hair long for my wedding and doing a much needed hair conditioning treatment. I totally recommend doing a treatment..nice little scalp massage and hot towel for 10 or so minutes (I was so relaxed I kind of snoozed). I loved my experience here at Bambu and I hope that Celisa will be my hairstylist forever (or at least till I move T.T). I can't wait to come back in 6 weeks! Odds and ends: Parking directly in the back or meter on the street. Masks are required and all staff are wearing them. They have hand sanitizer and sanitize the washing station immediately after each customer. They seem to space customers out, so we were not right next to each other. Celisa had another customer after me and I noticed she put her at another station since the chair I wasn't at wasn't sanitized yet. You guys are awesome! read more

If you're looking to switch up salons or work/live around Broad Ripple here is your spot! Booking is insanely easy online or you can call in. At time of booking online you pay a 50% deposit. This may turn some people off but I like prepaying for mine so I don't have to pay the whole amount on the day of service- works better for my budget! The staff is so friendly too! Upon arrival (not earlier than your scheduled appt) your temperature is taken and you are asked to wash your hands. There is also a giant wall of products you can purchase, I'm always tempted- maybe soon! I've been going to Kendyl. She's great with my Balayage and long cuts. Today I just had a cut and style so don't judge my roots in the photo- my choice! I scheduled a color next month. read more

Wish I could give a better rating to this salon; the two stars really just reflect how friendly the staff were who helped us. My friend and I booked this salon prior to a special formal event for hair and makeup; we chose it for the location and the fact I've always liked Aveda salons for the special little extras they offer (hand massages, facials, foot soaks, etc.). Our appointments were late in the afternoon on a Saturday. Perhaps this was our downfall? We were offered no special little "extras" at all. My hair was pinned up but the stylist used so much hairspray I felt like I was back in the 80's with my Aqua Net. My hair was super stiff, but about an hour later the front pieces she'd pulled out and curled were flat. My friends hair fell flat, as well in the same period of time. Our makeup seemed haphazard and rushed. Although it was a warm day, we both had to touch up (I had to essentially do mine over) before we left for the event. I really didn't feel special and/or glamorous at all and honestly could have done my hair and makeup better myself. We paid over $250 (including tip) for both of our services and I feel we really didn't get our money's worth for this price. Perhaps their regular clients have better experiences here; I really wish we would have! read more

First, take your time here. This is not a place to rush into or out of. The lovely stylists in this place want to take care of you. Your first step is to get a head massage. As part of every haircut, the stylist will rub luxurious oil into your scalp and help you relax with a hot towel. After your shampoo, condition, and complimentary therapy session (not really), the stylist will take their time making sure each strand is cut to perfection. You don't have to leave until you feel and look stunning. I will admit that I was not a believer when I walked out of the salon, but after about 4 hours I found that it was the best haircut I've maybe ever had. It fit my head and made me look new. Had my first appointment today. I can't figure out what the bad reviews are for? Negative people, I guess. I called the day before and they were able to get me in the next day (impressive!). Shout out to Krista - you were awesome! She gave me one of the best cuts and styles I've had in YEARS. Following an appointment I almost immediately throw my hair up after walking out of the salon. Not today! I've kept it down and flaunted my great cut all day long! She was extremely knowledgeable and just the right level of friendliness. She was social and polite, but wasn't too concerned with starting small talk if it grew quiet for a minute or two *insert applause* I appreciate this. So much. As long as I'm living in Indy, I will continue going here. I highly recommend it! Plus you can grab a cold pressed juice from the cafe next door - a commodity in this area (cold pressed juices just haven't quite yet caught on in Indy) The only thing I would advise is they inform patrons of their own parking lot in back. Being a new customer I was unaware they had reserved parking. Instead I ended up arriving almost 10 minutes late (when I would've been 10 minute early) because I was scrounging the streets for parking. Broad Ripple is a busy place during the day, so definitely check the lot first! And kudos for the clever comb bike rack - absolutely love it! read more

If you've read my other reviews, you know I EXCLUSIVELY get my hair done at Aveda salons. Have never found stylists so well trained and received consistently fantastic cuts. Anyway, my favorite stylist left Rejuve so I was in the market. Hauling up to Carmel is a bit far, so I was jazzed to find Bambu in BRip. I've walked by this salon 100 times and never known it was there! Troy was my stylist and he was awesome. He'd done a charity cut-a-thon the day before! Talk about stamina. He undid the hot mess that happened with a student stylist (love the school, but they ARE students after all - you get what you pay for). It was a great experience. I came to Bambu as a brand new customer. I showed Lindsey pictures of what I wanted and she did a great job. I got 4 inches off and was so pleased with the results. Also, I had always wanted to learn how to curl my hair with a straightener and she showed me step by step so I could do it at home. I appreciated that so much because I always leave the salon and can never replicate how they styled it - not this time! I went to Bambu the first time last week. I was able to call that morning and get in for an appointment that same day. I was super excited, and the experience was great. I was rushing myself, and a little flustered with the extra few minutes I had to wait. However, the scalp and neck massage with the Aveda oils totally made up for it and I felt completely relaxed. My stylist did a great job of listening to my ideas and adding her suggestions. She gave me an awesome blowout and since they new I was on a time crunch, I was able to schedule my next appointment and pay while getting it done. Went with my boyfriend so that both of us could get haircuts. Pros: Everyone was really friendly, we were running about 5 minutes behind and called to tell them, they were super nice about it. Offered us a beverage upon being greeted. Felt very welcoming. As for my boyfriend's hair cut, he enjoyed the experience - usually he's a $8 a cut guy and I think I may have converted him to the salon-side. My cut was great as well. I could tell the stylist was listening to me as I talked to her about what I wanted done, and she recommended a deep conditioning treatment to help out my dry ends. I was also able to get an eyebrow wax at the last minute - very convenient! Con: Really there's just one. There was another customer who brought in her 3 boys and they were running around as children are likely to do. I'm not sure how this should have been handled, I could tell the mom was frazzled by their behavior but I felt like the staff of the salon should have intervened in some way to alleviate the noise and chaos they were causing. I know the receptionist was playing on her phone behind the desk; I could see her from where I was sitting. I know she's not a baby sitter, but it would have been a kindness to the other guests for her to at least offer to help. read more

This was a very unfriendly place today. Although Bridgette seemed nice her manager was very rude. My daughter went in for a complimentary bang trim and called to say we were 5 minutes late. She called before we arrived but was not told to reschedule at that time. The manager told her to reschedule! I guess it makes a difference if you are getting something complimentary! I planned to make an appt for a color highlight and cut but glad I saw how poor their service is in advance! I don't recommend anyone going since I'm sure they are not flexible. I would not have driven there just to be told to reschedule! If the manager is supposed be leading by example this one is not!, I am a customer service mgr and this is not how to run a business! I've shopped here a few times to purchase Aveda products and haven't had the friendliest experiences with the staff- I'm not sure if it's because I used to go here for my haircut & color and no longer go due to the ridiculous amount of time it would take for one allover color and a simple trim (3+ hours). However, they are the only Aveda store near my home, so if I am in dire need of a product, I have to stop in. A little over a month ago, I purchased a product (volumizing tonic) and used my Pure Privilege card. I just checked my Pure Privilege account and there is no record of this purchase, so I lost out on the points. I know I handed my card to the rather unfriendly woman and watched her enter in the product. Unfortunately I did not keep my receipt because I didn't expect this to happen. This salon just has poor service all around and I will never recommend it to anyone. read more

I'm always nervous to give new salons a try especially when it comes to doing color but my current stylist is out on maternity leave and I felt strange scheduling with someone else at that salon. I had originally scheduled a different day and stylist but my schedule changed and they were able to get me in the day after I called which was great. I went in with a very clear picture of what I wanted done and walked out disappointed only because it didn't work out that way. They took their time on my hair and walked me through the whole process, from payment to every single step they did on my hair. I will never go to any other salon! My hair looks and feels amazing. I was told to come here by a friend who has always loved the results, and I am right there with her. Don't pass up this salon! Ask for Celisa, she is experienced, personable, and informative. Very pleased! My hair was damaged and had exotic colors. To get the correct balayage color I wanted and to get my hair trimmed I paid $300. More than expected, but totally worth it. My hair needed a lot of work so I'm sure the price would be less for someone who didn't have crazy colors and thick, long hair. read more

Bambu Salon is awful! I was quoted $240 for me and my sister for all over color and walking out the door I paid $430!!! The manager was not there, they had to rush through our hair to finish because they were closing. I paid for both of us to have our hair straightened and they didn't do it. The girl that did mine told me, "I'm just going to braid it, because we need to close". We usually go to the Aveda Institute at Castleton Square Mall, but they didn't have openings for 2 months. Then I figured if a payed the extra money for a high quality experience that I would leave happy with hair that I lived that came out like I wanted that they promised me they could do. My hair was supposed to be an all over pastel blue color, I left feeling like a mermaid with green hair, I went home and cried. The girl that did my hair said that she could fix it for me, but she would have to change me because the manager was getting upset that they had to keep fixing people's hair for free due to one of the employees that kept messing up. My sister wanted an all over dark blue and left with a nasty aqua/green color that looks like a bad weave. They told me that 5 hours wasn't enough time to do our hair and that the appointments should have been made for earlier in the day, but I usually don't spend for than 3.5 hours getting my hair colored. Never again will I pay more. Never. Please don't waste your money!! read more

I have easy hair to cut, very thick and somewhere between straight and wavy and even a bad cut is not the end of the world. My cut and color with owner Nicole was fine and loved the color. BUT my three year old daughter has tons of poker straight hair and every flaw of a bad cut is magnified. Elani did an outstanding job with her,and for the first time EVER she has straight bangs!!! We recommend Michelle and Jennifer frequently because they have both done a superb job with color and style for my hair and cut for my husband. All of the stylists are extremely friendly, energetic, and eager to help with anything you might need. They don't give you the full service they say they will. The owner is too busy dealing with private manners to fully take care of her clients and thus rips them off from the full service that should be offered. They don't add any benefits to your spa experience and seem to rush through the process. If you want a full service for what you are paying i don't suggest going here. read more

I'm Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, I walked in on a Friday and immediately had my hair cut by Carly. I'm fairly new to the whole aveda experience but there really wasn't anything not to like. I usually go to Bogie's across the street which is kind of like the exact opposite. Both good haircuts, but the experience is quite different. Carly offered me a drink before the cut, I chose beer because I'm awesome and after she washed my hair the cut didn't take too long. do not waste your money here. it was very expensive and the girls either do not know what they are doing it just simply do not understand. I am a college student and usually get my hair done by a family friend on breaks. since graduation is coming up I wanted my hair to look fresh and decided I could treat myself to this "nice" salon I always saw when I was in town. I have dark hair and always get it highlighted. I went there asking them to do a full foil as I normally get. they did not want to leave it on long, not near as long as I need. the result- yellow hair. I tried to see if maybe it would grow on me, maybe I was just not used to it being so light. no days after I would catch it and it was still yellow. I decided to give them another try, and add toner. something I never have to do because I am not rushed through the bleaching process at home so it gets to the right blonde that is a part of my hair. I explained how this color was not what I wanted and she said she would put a toner in to take the gold out. she did and my hair turned brown, not the ash blonde it was supposed to be. I am now 3 days from graduating and have gone through a ton of time and money in two appointments and it's not right. this hair is awful. they just do not understand what people want. I would have been happier with my hair in my photos if I had had the roots. I now will have a third appointment when I get home to try and fix this and start my lightening process again. do not bother to go here unless you are open to what you want or like wasting. it took all I had not to start screaming and crying in that chair, and they could see it too. do. not. go. read more

This was my first time here. I am very loyal to my hair stylist back home (as I have never strayed away for the past 5 yrs) but just could not hold off on a hair cut any longer. I am used to the Aveda salon environment and products so try to keep Aveda salons a priority when in search of a salon/spa. My sister was in to Bambu a week ago for a hair cut and had such good things to say, I didn't hesitate giving it a try myself. I'm happy to know there is an exceptional salon steps away from my home for my urgent hair needs.
