I am giving this shop a low rating not because of the cut, (Cikia is EXCELLENT), but because of the administrative chaos. Appts. booked online not showing up at the store level, the salon phone # never rings thru - "the voice box is not set up" - WHAT THE...? I have tried calling their number numerous times over the last several months, and continue to get this message. Who does business like this? There are some great people at this location, (Cikia and Maria), but more often than not, the staff is unfriendly and extremely inept at handling the booking system. I think this salon is in serious trouble. Huge turnover in stylists, lack of organization. Lack of interest in ownership. Phone doesn't get answered or if answered goes to voicemail and the mailbox is full. I'm not going back to a salon where a stylist also has to be a receptionist, then forgets where she is in styling on my hair. No thanks. Taking appointments and walk-ins may help your bottom line, but it means that appointments may get pushed back if there are already walk-ins in the chairs. Salon felt dingy and grim, though styli were friendly. Won't be returning. read more

If I could give Lydia zero stars, I would. I have been coming to Supercuts for quite some time. Tina was my original hairstylist, and she was amazing. When she retired, she recommended Stephanie, who was also wonderful and always listened carefully during our consultations. Unfortunately, Stephanie left, and I was told that Lydia cuts hair most similarly to Tina and Stephanie. That turned out to be a huge mistake. Lydia completely destroyed my hair. From the start of the appointment, it felt like she had no interest in listening to what I was asking for. I clearly explained that I have naturally curly/wavy hair and that it needs to be cut a certain way. I specifically asked for no more than a half-inch trim and a small trim on my bangs. Instead, Lydia cut well over an inch off and added heavy texturizing throughout my hair without asking. It felt like my input simply did not matter. No matter what I said during the consultation, Lydia seemed determined to cut my hair the way she wanted rather than the way I requested. When someone sits in your chair and explains exactly what they want done to their hair, the most basic expectation is that the stylist listens. Lydia chose not to. My shortest layer is now just under my eye and barely longer than my bangs. My hair is now frizzy, flat, and has lost all of its natural volume. My curls and waves are gone. I now have to use heat tools and spend over 30 minutes styling my hair just to get any kind of volume. My bangs are uneven and feel like soft, feathery pieces that just sit on my forehead. Lydia even texturized those without asking. During the appointment she seemed more focused on turning up the music and doing things her way instead of paying attention to what I was saying and how I wanted my hair cut. Because of how badly my hair was cut, I've had to wear it in a messy bun with multiple bobby pins just to make it presentable. A week later, I returned to the salon to make a formal complaint to the manager, Cikia. She was very professional and could immediately see the damage that had been done. I showed her a picture of my hair before Lydia cut it, and the difference was obvious. Cikia was extremely apologetic and spent close to 30 minutes speaking with me about the situation. She kindly offered me a free haircut to fix it. Unfortunately, the damage is so significant that I cannot get another haircut for at least three months while my hair grows out and hopefully regains some of its volume and natural waves. I truly appreciated Cikia's professionalism and understanding, but the experience with Lydia was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. When a stylist refuses to listen to their client and instead does whatever they want, the result is exactly what happened to my hair. If you have textured, curly, or wavy hair and expect your stylist to actually listen to your requests, I strongly recommend choosing anybody but Lydia. The store has a lot of clients they handle everyday, mostly people from nursing home and the elderly. If you show some patience you be satisfaction with getting your hair done satisfactory and feel good about yourself afterwards. Very caring hair stylists and they handle people with care. This place is unreliable. On an attempted visit earlier this year, I waited for over half an hour in the chair while the two (!) stylists tried to fix their computer problem. Finally, I just left. Today I was taken on time, but then the phone rang. My stylist took the call and spent 5 minutes discussing hair coloring options with the caller. I almost left. When I indicated my displeasure with waiting (I was in a hurry), the stylist was sarcastic and snarky. "I'm so sorry I inconvenienced you with my phone call. I have to answer the phone, it's my job." Racial profiling, if you are non white and white goes there . color plays roll today i had appoint ment booked at 10.30 via super cut software program. i got confirmation little late about 1 min. so i tried one more time and i got 11.30 now i got first confirmation for 10.30 am. my second was not conforming on my side but i didnt care about second one since i got first one conformed. i got call n i missed it . so i called bacl no one picked up i do have record of phone call i made. when i went there the barber girl is telling me my 10.30 cancelled since i had 11.30 but actually i had conformation at 10,30am another customer they took another customer instead of me saying he got 10.30 also. how come some body lying in this case computer do not allow 2 appointments for same barbaer . i was bumped back. i feel my self humiliated and racially discrimated. I am a business man for 2 decades i know legal activities . i go there since place was opened up in1984 under diff name . I m a residence of desplaines since 1980 and still here enjoying . so you know a matured is writing this review. I would let you guys review and make your decision about services here.you want to know just text me i wont mind to explain whole episode. i heard during the gossip while that other guy having hair cut that had had 400 pm appointment and he had problem. so he walked before me and lydia pushed me back saying all kind of excuses. the funny thing she is not accpting her fault. when u messed up say sorry and move forward but stii blaming me. conslusion: i had appoinment, i went in time, i was pushed back and i was blammed that i had two appointment.. i want all matured people give suggestions here what to do. all your suggestions welcome thank you Janak Patel . read more

I have been going to supercuts for a while now. Their service is usually better than average I would say, and 2/3 times I get the hair cut that I like. This location however falls into the 1/3 times that takes away from their usual acceptable reputation. The girl who cut my hair was socially inept and stenched from cigarettes. Not a pleasant experience when someone is close to you for more than a couple of minutes. Aroma aside, the quality of the cut was poor. I had multiple patches of hair that were clearly longer than the rest at the end of the service. I will not come to this location again. read more
