We both had foot massage + body massage for 60 minutes. You start in a chair and soak your feet. From the comfy chairs to the perfect water temperature I was in heaven. Good foot massage with reflexology. You can hear outside street noise but it didn't bother me. You next go to a massage room where you get your back and arms worked on. At a friend's suggestion I came to Super Spa not knowing what to expect. I used to be a massage therapist, taught massage, and managed a very busy very well known massage franchise for a few years. Bruce hagave me a thirty minute massage that was thorough, intuitive, technically sound, and most importantly he seemed to know all of my areas of pain and worked on them well. Next time I'm getting an hour. He is a truly talented healer. *** I have to knock off a star because when I left yesterday I told Bruce that I wanted to see him the next day for a massage. Today I called and spoke to the woman who works here and requested Bruce for 8pm. I was really disappointed when I arrived tonight and Bruce wasn't available. I had a massage with the woman that just wasn't the same. Not what I wanted and not why I came in again. I'm really bummed that she either didn't understand that I had requested Bruce on the phone or just ignored my request. When I arrived Bruce was in session and he opened the door and spoke to the woman in Chinese and then told me that she is good also so I went with her. I'm really bummed my request wasn't honored. Walking in the very host asked what we services we needed, and referred to the large menu board large and clear right in the walkway. My girlfriend and I went back for 90 min (40min feet 50min body massage). They stretched our upper body while soaking feet which was nice to warm up because sometime the water & cool temp outside has cause a distraction during massage elsewhere in Oakland. Got the $30 reflexology treatment. I was able to be seen right away without an appointment during a weekday in the early afternoon. Massage was an hour, as advertised. Not horrible, but not super relaxing. The massage the technique for the feet was lacking. She mostly rubbed the top of my shins and in between my toes. My feet didn't feel less sore afterwards. I would have rather a shorter massage that was better quality. I tipped in cash because the masseuse overtly asked for that which was weird. She was clearly insulted by my 13% tip. Not professional or nice to turn your nose up at a tip in my opinion and the massage wasn't awesome. Not worth your money as it wasn't cheap compared to what you get. Won't be going back. read more

My first time going here was about 1 year ago when my back was aching. The man who massaged me was going extremely rough. I came out of my 45-minute massage feeling beat-up, and I felt worse the next few days. I thought that, since this was my first massage, maybe this was normal? So I gave it another shot recently. My back was killing me. Wasn't sure if I should write this review because I want to support small businesses but I figure that an average person who hardly gets massages should know my experience. I requested a woman this time so that it wouldn't be as rough of an experience. Massage itself was better than last time. But when it came time to pay, things went real sour. Before paying, she offered me to drink some sort of drink in a paper cup, to which I said no thank you. I then put my card into the pay machine, and I pressed $7 to add as tip; the lady then took it upon herself to cancel the transaction, pulled out my card, then pointed at the flyer on the wall that suggests a $10 tip for a good massage. I explained to her that I just wanted to tip $7; she grew angry and the man who answers the phone spoke English for her. I explained to him that the flyer is merely a suggestion and you shouldn't pressure customers to tip a certain amount. He allowed me to re-do the transaction, and insisted that I drink whatever was in the cup. I didn't want the drink nor give them another reason for me to tip more than what I thought was already generous. I left really bothered, with both the man and woman looking quite upset themselves. I understand that maybe since their prices are lower, they expect a bigger tip, but it just doesn't seem right to me. Never coming back here again. read more

AAAAAAAAHHHHHH'MAZING! I love this place. I bartend and suffer from chronic neck pain...I need to have a massage at least twice a month. But hey, we ALL have our reasons! This place is just what you need and a price range that works. Bruce is the best! He understands pressure points and can feel out where you need work and concentrates on it. This is not a fancy luxury spa, but once your face is in that pillow, who cares? And the rooms are just juke any message room you'll find here in most spa's. The difference is the foot part is done separately in the front room and they don't have you flip over on a full body, but everything is worked. There may also be a chance of getting someone new who may not be as good as Bruce or any of the other suggestions I have seen on other yelp reviews (how I found super spa). $45 for 60 mins is insane and with the 10% discount...! I've been to this business for the hour long foot reflexology massage and I've generally had a good experience. Due to experiencing some lower back pain, courtesy of boot camp, I needed a more thorough massage and thus, my appt for an hour long body massage. My story begins... I called early Saturday morning and was able to make an appt for an hour long body massage during the Noon hour. I arrived a little bit early and I was shown to my room, which was incredibly dark despite the lamp that was used. Massage rooms are generally dim but it was so dark in there. When it was time for my massage, the female owner came in and before she began, she left the door slightly ajar. I think this was due to the fact that it was dark in the room and she needed some light to work. In addition, I think it was to allow her young son to be able to know where she was. This was incredibly awkward because I saw him peeping into the room, and I don't thinking he was attempting to be a peeping tom, but rather to see what his mom was up to. If others clients would have went to the restroom, then they would have passed my room and would have been able to see into my room. When the massage started, I was waiting for her to ask me if she should concentrate on any areas, but she didn't. Although I did come in for a specific reason, I didn't attempt to tell her my issue because of the language barrier. The massage itself was just ok. It seemed like she spent at least 45 minutes on my upper back. When she massaged my legs, she wasn't as careful about draping me with the sheet so I felt a breeze in a area that generally doesn't get a breeze. After she was done massaging the backside of my body, she went and got hot towels to wipe the oil off of me. The was super super awkward because she lifted the sheet near my feet towards my head. The entire bottom half of my body was completely exposed! I'm not super modest but I've never been this exposed during a massage. Please remember that the door is slightly open. After being wiped down, I was finally asked to flip around. I think I had about 10 minutes left of my hour. The rest of the massage didn't involve oil, it was more acupressure at that point. When she was done, she left the room but didn't fully close the door. I had to get up, completely naked and close the door to get dressed. I will never get a body massage from this business again. However, I would consider getting another foot massage from the male owner, because I've had good experiences with that. read more

Sigh. Super Spa is not so super anymore. I have been coming to Super Spa once a month for the past year and a half. Tina and Jim were very skilled in the art of relaxing you in a way that did not feel rushed. Unfortunately, the new folks haven't figured out how to do that. My reflexology session was interrupted 9 times because Joe had to answer the phone, show 2 others to their rooms, and make appointments for walk in customers. When he was able to get to me he was very rushed and slightly apologetic. I'm sad to see a solid business slide so far down hill. read more

She was deliberate and intuitive and did a really great job on loosening my upper back and shoulders, which i didn't realize were so tight. read more

Well, I thought this massage was great. Instead of the typical Swedish routine where they tick off the checkmarks of a list of areas to cover, he used a more ad hoc approach and attacked my problem areas with gusto. I would give it a negative stat if thats an option. First it wasn't a full hour of massage i got, it was 20 mins shorter than it should be. Second, it was the reception who gave me the massage i suppose he is the boss. However, i don't think he knows what he was doing and it was very unprofessionial beacuse he rubbed only rubbed my feet. I did not feel any real foot reflexology the whole 40 mins. As an insider or foot massage places, coz i use to work in one as a receptionist so i learn a bit of how to tell too, trust me and you will regret if you come to this place. The place is not by any means fancy but the prices are unbeatable and the massage is actually good. I like the no nonsense approach I go in, get the massage, pay and I'm on with my day. Living in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles, I've been actively looking for a Thai massage spa comparable to those found in LA's Thai Town, at a similar price point. I chose Super Spa based on the other positive reviews listed here. This review is for a full body massage. Reservations were difficult to initially make, since there was only one person working that day. After an early arrival, I was shown to a room and given no directions as far as prep goes. When the masseuse returned, she asked me to disrobe and simply gestured over to the table, then left. After she returned the second time, there were no instructions given whatsoever and she did not ask me if there were any particular sore spots I wanted her to concentrate on. The massage was methodical, but really didn't work out any of kinks I came to fix. And when I left, while my legs were feeling looser, my shoulders had the same tightness with which I walked in. The masseuse wasn't very friendly, I wouldn't recommend this place, and am still in search of a good affordable spa in the East Bay. read more

Although I have typically preferred female practitioners, the gentlemen who gave me the massage had great touch without too much pressure and a lot of technical skill. I've been to other massage places where people are basically rubbing your body all around in a haphazard way. Super Spa felt very professional. I was especially impressed by how he kept my sensitive areas covered while working on my legs. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. I am thrilled with Tina. I had the foot massage which includes a fantastic surprise - a partial body massage. For the price, the quality of the reflexology, I will go as often as I can. Highly recommend if your body needs a 'tuneup'. Have only been in the front part of the site which has three comfortable couch-like chairs for customers. Clean, quiet. I had a 1-hr body massage from Kenny and it was just the right pressure at just the right places I asked him to focus on. He asked occasionally if the pressure was OK. At other places, I've said no head no face but they still try to go through their own sequence. Entrance and room were clean, room very private, table nicely padded, hooks on the wall for clothes, dim lighting as it should be. Therapist's English was fine, much better than other Asian places. While others have yelped about interruptions with calls, etc., mine was not at all. Hopefully, these 2 partners can get enough business soon to hire staff to help with receptionist duties. From now on, this will be my go-to place for massage. If you can go midday on a work day, there should be ample parking very close, meters are $2/hr. Lots of places to shop or have lunch or early dinner nearby. Maybe walk for exercise at Lake Merritt before your foot massage. read more

My friend and I had the $25 ($30 for credit card) foot and body massage. We are both from out of town and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to walk in and only have to wait 5 minutes. We both *loved* our massages. I had a woman and my friend had a man. We were both very very relaxed afterwards. The place is on a busy street and since the massage chairs where right inside the front door I could hear all the traffic and people walking by. I think if you pay more you get the room that has a door so I am sure it's much quieter. People kept coming in for a massage and the bell rang every time someone walked in. Since they told everyone they weren't available it would have been nice for them to put a note on the door. So bottom line - the massages were great but it was noisy and we got interrupted. read more

The first massage I had here was from a male which I enjoyed, if I left it at that, this place would probably be a 4. Today I had it from the female and it was pretty bad. First, I had a lint covered fleece blanket put on top of me. Along with the not so great ambience, the massage felt scattered, no rhyme or reason, no balance. She also had her cell phone in her back pocket as she massaged me and it was not on silent. I could hear it beeping as I was getting massaged. After a really mediocre massage, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip on my card. Of course, I always tip at least five bucks. I said five bucks and she asked me five dollars with the look of "that's all." I proceeded to say thank you and she was dead silent and handed me the receipt. It's an inexpensive massage but I've had a lot better at this price range. I will try another place until I find one as good as Yans in Benicia. read more

When we get there, the man who owns the shop said he didn't remember the appointments. They don't write them down anywhere. We were supposed to begin at 3:00. Didn't start until 3:30.
