Beef ribs on rice with yucca and plantains

I've been meaning to try a Super Pollo at some point since I drive past one when visiting my mother at home. Today my husband and I decided to give it a shot not even knowing it was Peruvian. If you've never eaten Peruvian food, it's worth trying. The prices felt a bit high, but one order is more than enough for two adults. I saw one family with two kids all sharing one meal. While we went in for chicken, when we saw the menu, husband decided he wanted to try the ribs, and I can't pass up a nice fish, so I ordered the tilapia. (Again, we didn't know at the time how big a meal was- we are taking 3/4 of our food home to enjoy leftovers. ) Husband's favorite food in the world may be Korean Kalbi ribs, so he was excited to try these. While they weren't Korean deliciousness, and it turns out that for all the red coloring Peruvian food is in fact not at all spicy, they were cooked perfectly and had a nice understated flavor. Same with the fish. The crisp on it was perfect. It was good fish and not flavored with too much, but it worked. The novel to me sides are what excited me. The first thing we saw was what looked like two different types of potato fries. Turns out one of them was yucca- which is similar enough to a potato but unique enough to have again. Fried plantains are always a win, and these were great. There were some pickled red onions that I had mixed with lettuce which I loved, and my favorite (though least attractive) side of all was the spinach. It looked like green-brown creamed spinach, but there was no cream. I asked about the flavor and the lady said it had smoked paprika, cumin, garlic, and pepper. I hate pepper and hadn't detected any in it, but the paprika and slight cumin was really wonderful. If you like spinach at all (I do), this was a treat. I already have plans to stop for a chicken dinner the next time we go visit at my mom's. Definitely recommend.

Am getting in and out in a New York minute.

So my need for Peruvian chicken has returned big time. I have been shopping at the mostly empty Safeway nearby. And so I've been stopping at this Super Pollo rather than Quincy St for takeout. During the epidemic I just want to shop at places where I'm in and out and home in a hot minute. This fits the bill. The chicken is excellent. And I love both locations for spinach. They aren't exactly the same, they both have potatoes in it, but this location has more tomatoes, which is pretty yummy, so are yucca fries. This is a very inexpensive, very fast solution to dinner. If you haven't had Peruvian chicken haul yourself to a super pollo location. Especially if you're a person who likes well-seasoned food, that rotisserie chicken in the grocery store is just light on flavor. Half a chicken and two sides will cost you about $11 and you'll have leftovers.

I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the overall cleanliness; It's what I'd call "restaurant clean". Neither clean nor dirty. I was surprised about charging $.25 for the tiny containers of sauce. I got a Chicken burrito with fries. The burrito was good, but not great. Had a bite or two of questionable bone matter. The fries weren't cooked thoroughly.

Was craving lomo saltado and came here on our way home from Seven Corners late on a Tuesday night. Unfortunately, although it's associated with the same franchise as the location on N Quincy, do NOT go here if you want authentic Peruivian lomo. The meat was flavored heavily with curry [*not Peruvian*] and the peppers were different than those used in the traditional Peruvian dish. There were barely any fries and the few that were included were very soggy. The meat was also not cut properly. Overall very disappointing experience and pretty pricey for the poor quality - $45 for two entrees and cookies. If you are looking for good quality lomo, go to the N Quincy location, or El Fuego on N Pershing St closer to Ballston. Note: Have not had their chicken so this is for the lomo only.

Came here and picked up food to go. You can get a decent amount of food here for the price. You can get Mexican food, Indian food, and Peri Chicken. The place itself has an atmosphere of a fast food place that is not fancy at all. Like maybe a fast food place from the 80's but without the play area. The place is not dirty but does not come across super clean either. The food was pretty good for what you pay. They have a lot of options. We tried the Peri chicken and got some Indian and Mexican sides. Everything was good overall especially considering the price. I would come back here again. The meat is halal.

Wow...really? I'm the only 5-star rating to date? Super Pollo definitely lives up to it's name and has to be on par with my first ever experience with Peruvian chicken (at El Pollo Ranchero). The chicken rub they use here is definitely strong in comparison to other places I've been to including Edy's, The Chicken Place, and Crisp & Juicy...but that's exactly how I love it. The other thing that I noticed was how delicious the chicken fried rice was as well. The scrambled egg pieces were very salty but mixed with the fried rice it was a perfect marriage...at least for me. I came here for lunch (1/4 chicken meal) since I was in the area for a work-related conference, then on my way back home, I couldn't help but pick up a a whole chicken. I'm not exactly crazy about their cooked spinach though, and will probably have to pass on that the next time I visit. Sits right next to a McDonald's, so this little parking lot gets a lot of traffic.

Chaufa (fried rice) and fries were good! Chicken was flavorful.

It only took a quick 10 minutes to receive our entire order, which was 3 burgers, a crispy fried chicken sandwich, loaded fries, and 2 milkshakes! I was very happy with how efficient the service was and the most important part, how delicious every bite was! The smashburgers are made with 100% halal beef and they come out HOT with perfectly crispy edges on the patties and a juicy center. We ordered 3 burgers and each of them stood out in their own way. You can get a single, double, or triple patty burger and add whatever toppings to it too. The jalapeño burger was the star of the show, it had a such a nice and spicy kick to it. I wasn't expecting much but this burger had HEAT! Another favorite was the Juicy Lucy. It was packed with grilled onions and the patty was stuffed with cheddar cheese. A super messy and cheesy option that was definitely worth every bite! I liked that Jon's Joint offered other options too such as loaded fries and fried chicken sandwiches. What I found unique is that for the loaded fries, you can get it with falafel and make it spicy! This time, they had run out of the falafel so I am excited to try it next time. If you're in Arlington and craving a casual burger spot, you need to go to Jon's Joint. You'll get quick service and a delicious meal!

I used inkind to pay since they're on the app, so I get an additional 20% cashback. Everything was so delicious. The sandwich was bigger than I thought it was going to be from other people's pictures. The bread was so soft and a little sweet, almost like a Hawaiian roll. The short rib inside was like pulled short rib and super tender. The mashed avocado added an element of creaminess and the arugula cut the fattiness perfectly. Solid!! And the waffle fries were just like the ones I had growing up in NYC - I have been LOOKING for waffle fries like these everywhere. I'm so happy now that I've found them!! Also I think it was the owner who helped me, but she was sooooo sweet. Offered us cups of water and everything as we waited for our orders to be prepared. Well seasoned with a good crunch. The steak and cheese for me was a mixed bag...I saw my food coming and was dumbfounded by how big the bread was, and I didn't see any meat popping out. Pulled the sandwich open and saw what little meat I got. For $12.95, I feel a little ripped off. Especially when places like The Broiler and George's Steak and Things offer similar prices with an astoundingly higher meat in the meat to bread ratio. What little of the meat was available was delicious. I wish I had gotten a sub-$13 worth, not barely $7.65. Not sure I could come back. With how much I paid, it felt like a diminished return. And if I did come back, I'd hope the other offerings, like the breakfast sandwich, burger, and pulled pork, offer a better meat-to-bread ratio.

I was surprised by how empty it was for a holiday evening, actually just as strange by how vacant and empty the whole area was. This used to be a very busy area. I started with a White Russian milkshake and it was quite good. Again, that happy hour pricing really made it worth it. My meal was the chicken and biscuits. Large biscuits, fresh, with a little honey and hot drizzle. The hash browns were a tad dry and didn't quite fit the meal I thought, but the chicken biscuits were good. Enjoyed those. BUT one point that was quite annoying: THE GRAVY COST EXTRA! The server tried to upsell me with the sausage gravy (+$3) but when I asked if that cost extra he demurred and said it was just something they asked. He wouldn't actually confirm that. Not cool. I don't like being upsold like it's McDonalds. Eating off my friend's plate I also liked the french fries that came with his steak and cheese sandwich. We also had the cornbread appetizer. Again, if not for that happy hour pricing.. Cornbread is uber cheap so getting four fingers of cornbread felt.. well.. not quite a value match. Service was a little hit or miss. We had a lot of people helping us it seemed, kind of a divided table. Everything is there but I'm just not used to the inflation pricing. Milkshake, cornbread, and the chicken and biscuits, with 20% tip, came out to over $40. This kind of food, at this level of service, .. I feel like I was overcharged or not given the happy hour pricing on something. This just didn't feel like $40 for one person. And they want to do everything on the machine and you don't actually get a paper receipt or a bill unless you ask for one. Which you should. I guess bottom line: Ted's is expensive for it's class and offerings, so it makes a good date spot, but for regular eating out I think there are places better priced.

Five Stars - Outstanding Food, Exceptional Service, and an Unforgettable Experience!…read more We recently visited The Salt Line Oyster + Ale Restaurant to celebrate my little sister's birthday, and I must say, they did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. Let's start with the food--AMAZING! Our table enjoyed the Pimento Crab Dip, Stuffies, Fried Calamari, Smash Burger, Waterman's Platter, Seared Scallops, and Portuguese Stew. Every dish was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. It was clear that the kitchen takes great pride in what it serves. But as wonderful as the food was, the service was even better! Our server, Chante, took exceptional care of us throughout the evening. Her professionalism, warmth, attentiveness, and genuine commitment to ensuring we had a wonderful experience truly stood out. The rest of the staff was equally welcoming and attentive, making our family celebration even more special. What impressed me even more was meeting General Manager Matthew Joseph. His personal engagement and attention to detail reinforced something I have always believed: exceptional customer service doesn't happen by accident--it starts with leadership and a culture of excellence. Matthew and his team clearly understand that. As a former senior executive and business owner, I especially appreciate organizations where leadership, teamwork, and outstanding customer service come together to create a memorable experience. The Salt Line delivered on all three! Thank you, Chante, Matthew, and the entire Salt Line team, for helping make my little sister's birthday celebration so special. You have certainly earned our loyalty. The Salt Line will become one of our go-to destinations for entertaining family, friends, and business associates. Five stars without hesitation! So, I ordered the regular Arctic char from the regular menu and my friend ordered the special menu for restaurant week. His gazpacho was the best I ever tasted! I believe it even had chunks of shrimp in it with scallions on top that added a nice crunch. Sadly, it's not on the regular menu. He too got the Arctic Char for his entree. The Arctic Char was delicious and the grains underneath with vegetables was yummy. There were small dollops of a wonderful mayonnaise type sauce that was perfect! I would definitely order that again. (The Arctic chart that came with the restaurant week menu was clearly smaller than my regular menu item. This is why I don't care for restaurant week. This is not a slight against the restaurant, all restaurants do this.) I asked for bread and they brought out some yummy Parker rolls baked in a little skillet with old bay butter. They were piping hot and just perfectly fluffy on the inside. They charge six dollars for it. This is a minor issue-- I probably wouldn't charge more than five dollars. Most restaurants don't offer bread at all anymore and if they do--they charge. They really should mention that they charge for the bread when customers asked for it. My friend chose strawberry ice cream for his dessert included in the restaurant week menu. It was just okay, but what can you expect? It was just ice cream. I ordered a wonderful special bourbon old-fashioned--it was delicious. He got a beer which was quite pricey at $13 for a beer. That seems a bit high. We had a wonderful waitress. Her name is Chante. She was delightful and added to our great experience. We sat outside under the cover because it was such a beautiful night we wanted to eat outside. The bar was really hopping and loud. The restaurant decor is very cute with a French bistro style. This restaurant is close to the Ballston Mall. If you can't find street parking, which is usually tight, just go into the mall garage. I will definitely be going back.

Oh, the only thing was that we had to ask for water and it wasn't brought otherwise. It was a hot day, and there were 6 of us, so we needed a lot of water haha.
