Came back to my favorite Peruvian style chicken restaurant after a long break due to the pandemic. I'm happy to report that the food is just as delicious as I remember. Super Pollo stands out amongst all the pollo a la brasa joints in NoVA. The standard I measure it against is El Pollo Rico in Arlington. El Pollo's chicken is more heavily seasoned (especially the cumin), but that doesn't mean SP's is lacking. Personally I think it's less salty, which is my preference, and of course SP has a good selection of side dishes. The plaintains, chicken fried rice, and chick peas are also good. The cole slaw is KFC's with an extra dose of mayo so if that's your cup o' tea go for it. I usually get the spinach and fries or yucca, depending on what came out of the fryer more recently. Just peer over the glass counter at the bins and see which batch glistens more. The two sauces that come with the chicken are good mixed together. I usually put half of the green into the container with the mayo-like one and dunk my fries/yucca into it. I know people use the sauce for the chicken but I feel like it's already so well seasoned that it doesn't need any extra help. read more

Their prices are different from Their Uber eats menu prices , I was paying a certain amount then all of sudden I was charged more because the menu item prices were incorrect they need to update them when it comes to delivery definitely won't be risking ordering from them again from any platform. read more

I feel like this place is trying to overcharge, so I won't be back. I ordered 1/4 chicken and two sides, which should cost $6.99 plus tax. The young man working asked me what sides I wanted and I told him mashed potatoes and rice (see picture, don't judge). He never said that one type of rice would cost more than another, nor are there any signs explaining this. When I get to the register, I'm expecting to pay about $8... When I ask how much, however, he tells me $9. I point out that the price of 1/4 of a chicken and two sides is $6.99. He says that "brown rice" is $1 more... even though I hadn't been notified of this previously... I can tell this is going to be a headache to argue, especially with the language barrier, so I just let it go as the time/energy it would take would not be worth $1. When I get my receipt (see picture), however, I saw that I was charged an extra $1 for plantains, which as you can see, I did not get. I give a half attempt at explaining this to the young man-- but, again, not worth it. I sat down to eat and upon further examination of the receipt, I saw that I was charged extra ($7.49 instead of $6.99) for white meat-- which I didn't request. I get the feeling they're just nickeling every extra little bit they can get away with, hoping folks either won't check or won't feel like the hassle of arguing. I fell in the latter category... They got me... But, here's this Yelp review. Not trustworthy. I gave no tip and will be checking my bank account to make sure nothing additional was added after the fact. I normally don't write reviews but I feel that with everything going on today, it's absolutely necessary. I saw a man fiddling with his phone and having his hands on the tables go to make the dish I ordered without washing his hands. When seeing this I asked him to wear gloves. He refused and asked me to leave because they "don't have gloves". They would rather not serve me and ask me to leave than to clean their hands or wear gloves. DO NOT GO HERE. Poor customer service. I have been going to this Super Pollo for many years and I noticed there are different customer service at different locations. At this location they stopped giving customers courtesy water unless you pay for it you can't even get a glass of water with your meal. Where as other locations you can get a cup of water with your meal. I guess the owner treats the residents of different locations differently! read more

Chicken is average but often dry, so below average. Sides have too much salt and they try to put in your tray for take out instead of in separate cups - lazy. I have been going here for years and will not go there again. 1/4 chicken has 2 sauces max and 1/2 chicken now has 2 sauces max. which makes no sense. They overcharge you on any additional sauces that come in the smallest container and only 1/2 filled. Customer service is a problem as well as the food.. I will not go back to this place again as the food is over salted and I found a piece of plastic, perhaps from a fork, in the spinach. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've received. Won't be going back. The cashier was on his cell phone when I'm trying to pay my bill. Only reason why I come here is because they serve halal meat. Great chicken and sides for a quick lunch, only thing I do not like it the service. I tried to pay separately one time and the dude on the register who barely understood english, charged all the meals onto one credit card! I was hungry today, so I stop by the restaurant and ordered a whole chicken. There was a very young kid took my order, the order came with 2 side items, I picked green beans and fried rice, the kid told me fried rice will be an extra $1, I asked him why? He said because it has chicken in it. I have been at this location for at least a dozen times and never heard such a thing about charging extra dollar for fried rice, as the matter of fact I was just at this location twice few days ago and there was no extra charge for fried rice, so I asked an adult standing next to the kid, he was kinda agreeing with the kid, the whole meal was around $28, they were sorta smiling and talking in Spanish among themselves, I thought the kid was being dishonest for just a dollar gain, and I was a little disappointed to see the kid being how he was at a young age. I ordered the 1/4 chicken (white meat) and got two sides. I chose the chickpeas and the rice. I also got a small side of the plantains. The chicken was moist and the spice rub they use is excellent. The chickpeas tasted like it was curried and is soo good!!! The plantains were great as well. I will be returning. read more

This place has good tasting food at a great price. You will get your standard Peruvian chicken -- we normally get the full chicken with 2 sides for $14+ along with a steak and cheese for $6.95. They have Yuca fries which are very crispy. The fried rice and other sides are good but not great. I really enjoy the steak and cheese sandwhiches which are much better than any of the other sandwhich shops, e.g. Subway, Quiznos. The place appears clean but not a great place to dine in. We always get our food to go. They have a couple of flat screen TVs normally tuned into Latin Am/Spanish soccer games. For the price, you can't really go wrong with the food. It is a tasty treat for the family and I highly recommend the place for a casual family dinner. read more

I came here about two weeks ago and ordered a half chicken to go. The person filling up my to go box could not wait for me to pay before he turned his back and picked his nose. The chicken is precooked and not hot. The flavor is ok, but they dont seem to know how to cut a chicken in half without ripping off all the skin. Both times my chicken had no skin on the breast. So if you like mediocre chicken served by a guy that picks his nose in front of you, then this is your place. zero stars. read more

When I first moved into the area over five years ago food was good and hot, but past year or so it's been lacking flavor and it's like room temp warm. Today got a 1/4 chicken and they gave me one missing the leg but the meat was still there but the leg part so dry u couldn't eat it, had fried rice and fries, and the fried rice just tastes like they covered it in soy sauce and fries were stale like they been sittin there for a while. Moved to the area from Springfield recently, saw the reviews and decided that my wife and I should check it out. First off, we love pollo ala brasa, and especially Peruvian chicken rotisseries. This place was semi-welcoming when we entered, it had a cafeteria style plating system. At least we were able to see what looked fresh and what didn't. We both ordered the 1/4 chix and rice, she had the fries instead of salad and I had yuca. The chix was o.k. We've had better, the rice was o.k, it was old since we eat rice in almost all of our meals, so we know when rice is really dry, it is old. The fries were cold and the yuca was old. This spot was o.k. Definitely edible, but will give it another shot when it is busy. Will give it the benefit of doubt, due to the time and weekday we went to eat. El Pollo Rico, Wild Chicken, and El Rancho was definitely better flavored chix. read more

It took me a couple of months after moving here to finally go in and check it out. I always saw it on my way into the grocery store and thought it looked like a sketchy place. Once going in and seeing that it is actually pretty normal on the inside, and that there were families and such hanging out and eating I figured it couldnt be too bad. The service is extremely fast and the food is excellent. I have tried the burritos and the chicken and both are amazing. I actually prefer the burrito here over some of the other fast food burrito places. You can also choose from a variety of sides as well. Everything comes with a a green and yellow side sauce. First, I was overcharged by the cashier who swipe my card. He looked dumbfounded when I asked for my receipt. He tried to play it off like he made a mistake but 10.59 and 18.59 aren't even in the same sequence on the keypad (maybe on the phone kedpad). I've been a big advocate of this restaurant. However, the last two times we've had their chicken...it has been undercooked, bright red blood still on the bone. They cut the chicken to order, and should know to look at the food they are serving. Needless to say, they have been added to our boycott list. While at Harris Teeter I decided to walk over and placed an order for a small fry and was told "we only sell large fries, which are $5. Been to this place many times but the passed 3 times I came here I've gotten negative vibes from the workers. They are attitude filled Neanderthals that don't understand the concept of customer service. They will eventually run the business to the ground. Mediocre at best. The chicken is decent. Nothing to rave about, but certainly will do in a pinch. The sides are dismal. I got dinner there for the first time last night, and got fries, plantains, chicken rice, and corn on the side. The best part were the plantains, but I even threw out the leftovers of those. They weren't crispy enough on the outside. Just all mush, may as well have been baby food. The fries were dry, tasteless, and soggy. The rice and corn bland as can be. The chicken was a bit on the dry side. The only thing going form them is the low price, but it isn't worth the time, effort, or money. I'm still not sold on Peruvian chicken. read more
