However, when contacted the second time, I was informed that sanding would need to be done and the sanding could wait until the next treatment. Thus, I hired them again to perform the same task that they did the first time. However, within 12 months, a lot of the stain had lifted and was simply not holding. When contacted I was informed that some of this is natural, which I can accept to a degree. They volunteered to return and to do some touch up but indicated that they could not guarantee that it would not happen again. When asked, "what would be needed to do everything correctly?" I was informed that a major sanding needed to occur and to redo the project would cost an additional $1500. Given that I had already paid $900 the first time, this would've brought the total cost to $2400. Had they simply told me that a sanding was needed during our initial conversation, I would've gone ahead and simply hired them at a $1500 rate. In the end, their recommendation that it did not need serious sanding was incorrect. While this company may be adequate for a basic job, it is important that the consumer acquire a well informed and accurate assessment of the condition of their deck before moving ahead. Otherwise, frustration will occur.
