Delicious menudo
Eileen F.

Stopped by this morning for a menudo to go- still as delicious as when I first tried it many years ago.. it's fresh, not smelly which means it's very clean tripe, it's flavorful and not greasy like most places around Whittier- this spot is the OG spot! Menudo served daily! I've tried other dishes before and I must say all their dishes are delicious/ Pancho still there and just as welcoming and wonderful as ever!

Cheese isn't completely melted.

I forgot that I've been to this place circa 2019 and didn't like it even though my buddy's wife insisted it's the best place in town. There must be better burritos in town. This visit, I had a bacon breakfast burrito and sprinkled their green salsa on it. My complaints today are the same I had in 2019 when I had a carne asada burrito if memory serves: 1) The tortilla was cold 2) The burrito was barely warm but not warm enough to melt the cheese. The contents of the burrito were decent. The eggs weren't burned. It's just too bad that it was not warm. There were only 2 or 3 other customers. Staff and customers were very friendly. I felt welcome. Parking lot was small and only one way in and out so I can see how it would really suck if it gets busy. I'm sorry I can't seem to enjoy this place as much as so many other people do.

Regular Burrito (chicken)

Super Burrito has the typical Mexican fare, eg. Burritos, tacos, Chile relleno, plus hamburgers and fries. We got burritos and we're pleasantly surprised at the size! Bigger than many other places. Yay! The carne asada burrito was super yum. The chicken burrito could have used a little more flavor, and I found a bone in the meat. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are quite a few booths for dining in. The parking lot was a little tricky because the entrance driveway has a one way arrow, but we couldn't find an exit driveway.

Pan dulce and coffee

Our first time there. When we walked in there was nobody at the entrance, so we sat down. The young man approached the counter and looked at us and said loudly, "come order first!" No good morning, or such thing. Ok... we got up and went to order. I ordered red chilaquiles (sauce tasted from a can, and the rice was hard, maybe reheated from yesterday or day before?) and he asked me how I wanted my eggs and said sunny side up. My husband ordered green chile and eggs, but he didn't ask him about the eggs. My husband doesn't like sunny side up at all. He assumed all eggs would be the same, sunny side up, and I didn't realize it until the order was served. The extra tortillas took 5 minutes after the food was served and my husband had to get up to get them, so service is lacking. The place is small, but busy, so one waitress is not enough. She has to take care of tables and take out orders. The establishment needs maintenance and upkeep. The decor is outdated. Parking spaces are small and limited.

Their famous menudo

I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here for years and love their menudo! Tastes like it's homemade and that's what makes it even better! I had stopped coming for about a year when COVID happened but I recently started coming back. I'm really sad to hear that owner's son had passed away. RIP and sending condolences! I absolutely recommend this place for anyone who wants great food and great menudo! Also, The service here is outstanding! 10/10 recommend!

So this place was recommended for their menudo from a guy that my mom talked to. So we went on a Sunday morning just before the breakfast crowd came in. This place got packed quickly and right before you know it the place was full. So my mom & I tried the menudo, the chilaquiles plate, and sweet bread. Everything was great and the service was good. I'd go back to try their pozole next.

The menudo spot! Consistently good for years. Small place but never had a problem getting seated. Can always take it to go. Parking lot is small but can navigate through it easy enough. They have a bigger menu and not just menudo is served but all I seem to order. All meat or extra meat or no meat options.

The "menudo everyday" sign is what got us in here. We arrived late at night and we were informed that they were only doing take out at that point, which was fine but I kinda wanted to dine in, the place looked cleaned and homey. I got a small menudo and my husband got a chicken burrito. Food was good, they did provide the standard garnishments. I cant say this is authentic Mexican food, maybe a few generations down the line but it still passes.

They were fresh, crunchy, with ample green tomatillo salsa that was flavorful, making for a very authentic bite. The beans were very good and complemented the chilaquiles perfectly. It is clear, the restaurant owners are proud of their heritage and are sharing it with everyone. This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.

Now for the food, the original dish I wanted to order was currently unavailable that day, but all good, I ordered the octopus dish instead and it was delicious! It was actually very filling and I didn't feel like they just gave me a skimpy piece of octopus like how other places do sometimes! The green salsa on it was very tasty, and the sope underneath was a nice touch! It also comes with a side of rice and bell peppers which was very good! I also tried a little bit of Mole from another dish and the mole was very flavorful!! Our waiter was nice and the food didn't take long to come out at all. I do plan on coming back to try other dishes and appetizers/drinks as well. The menu wasn't super extensive, but I think they still had a good amount of options to choose from!

We came here because my cousin DJSP was the featured DJ this Sunday, so I did my Yelp research and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect because the most recent reviews were a couple of months old, no recent food photos and menu photos were outdated. However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. It is very loud here with a full restaurant of diners, the live DJ and football games going with loud cheering fans, so if you have sensitive hearing, bring some ear plugs.

Well I received the flautas (which were very tasty) but they were BALD. There was about one tablespoon worth of guacamole on the side. And a tiny little pinch of lettuce. I immediately asked the waitress if it was missing the toppings, and she said "yes it's missing sour cream." She left and came back and said there was no more sour cream. A Mexican restaurant without sour cream? Oh! really wish I would've known that before ordering because, like I said, I love my flautas drenched in toppings. I would've ordered something else had I known there was no sour cream. I requested some extra guacamole to make up for the lack of sour cream. With guacamole and the salsa that comes with chips, it still tasted pretty good but my heart was wishing I had sour cream and tons of cheese. It was definitely a tasty meal but was a HUGE miss on the lack of toppings, which is what I crave when I order flautas. I've never seen flautas look so sad and lonely. The rice and beans were okay. Not too bad not too good. Just ok. It's a shame the restaurant is super beautiful but the food doesn't really seem authentic.

Because of the high volume of the music, my wife and I were talking loudly just to hear each other across the table--standard for a noisy room, and we were having a good time. There were only one or two other couples in the entire dining room, seated clear across the restaurant. Out of nowhere, after we had finished our food and were halfway through our drinks, our server, Jacob, walked up and bluntly announced, "You guys are talking really loud." Without giving any prior polite request or warning, he immediately took away our drinks--a bottle of champagne for mimosas we had barely started (we hadn't even had more than one drink each and were completely sober)--and told us he was getting the manager. We sat there completely dumbfounded for 10 minutes with no food, no drinks, and no check, waiting for management while everyone else in the place was silent. When the manager, Javier, finally came over, we explained how ridiculous and unprofessional the situation was. He switched our server and offered to return our drinks, but by that point, the experience was ruined and we just wanted to leave. We explicitly asked Javier to remove the drinks from the bill, and he promised he would "take care of it." When the revised bill arrived, we noticed they had still left a $9 charge for the drinks. We had to flag down the new server to fix Javier's error. To make matters worse, when we reviewed the pre-adjusted bill photo my wife took, we realized they had automatically tacked on a $2 "credit card fee" before we had even presented a form of payment (we ended up paying cash). Between Jacob's shocking lack of hospitality, Javier's slow and incomplete handling of the issue, and predatory automatic card fees added upfront, this was one of the worst dining experiences we've had.
