The perfect burger. Excellent fries. This place really hit the spot. I drove 40 minutes for this burger and I would definitely do it again. The patty was very well portioned, and the balance of onion lettuce and tomato reminded me of a fresh California style burger, not dissimilar to in n out. The bottom bun did get a little soggy due to the burger dressing (thousand island style sauce) but the taste more than made up for the slight sog. I might ask for extra toasted buns next time. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Super burger is the place to go for a quick quality burger! It's really a hidden gem! The owner here is super friendly and everything is made fresh to order. They serve juicy quarter pound patties with the toppings of your choice. Make it a combo and it's still under $7.00. If you're super hungry go for the double! It won't disappoint! Time to upgrade from "OK" to "Yay! I'm a fan." A few weeks ago, Super Burger changed hands and is now run by a very friendly guy named Ben. While the no-frills building and menu look nearly the same on the surface, the new owner has greatly improved the quality of the food. Two notable examples: 1. Turkey and avocado sandwich. They used to have that crappy, water-packed, processed turkey. Not any more. They now serve a fresh, real turkey breast sandwich - and it comes topped with like an entire avocado! 2. Better burgers. What was once a mediocre (probably frozen) 1/4 lb. patty is now a 1/3 lb. of fresh, juicy ground beef. It is bigger and tastier - yet still same price as it was before (cheap!). When I get a craving for a quick burger, and all the Weebles are waiting in the cars for In-N-Out, I will be here. I plan to frequent Super Burger much more frequently than I did before. Surprisingly, this place have all kinds of food from teriyaki chicken, burrito to hamburger, pretty international with good value. We got double bacon cheeseburger combo to share. It came with a side of curly fries. The burger was huge! I highly suggest people to share one burger. There this customer laughing at me holding a burger bigger than my face while I was struggling to take the first bite. They are really generous in giving huge hamburger patty and bacon. tl;dr: Sizable patty is juicy and thick, nice melt on the cheese. Construction issues with bun falling apart and shredded lettuce slipping out. Avocado (xtra) and tomato are fresh. Crinkle-cut fries are well made... **** Not quite the neighborhood greasy spoon like Tip Top is but I would have to say that there are a lot of good things to like about Super Burger. Against the backdrop of the nearby San Gabriel mountains, this is a stand-alone walk-up burger stand of yesteryear, complete with outdoor pastel colored polyethylene tables covered by a corrugated, galvanized metal patio cover with the paint peeling off (you just have to appreciate nostalgic places like this they're a dying breed)... Really juicy burger patty with melted yellow cheese is a definite selling point of SB, there's a good savory unami taste to the grilled meat. I would say that a single patty w/cheese is the subjective equivalent in size of a double-double at In-and-Out, they're quite substantial. The bun which was your run-of-the-mill soft and squishy variety might have fared better containing only a single but disintegrated under the weight of a double patty. Other construction issues include SB's decision to use shredded lettuce instead of a whole leaf, most of which combined with the thousand island dressing and meat juices wound up squirting out with each Jim Carrey Mask-like attempt at a bite. It's challenging enough with a tomato but the avocados would also try to escape, both of which were fresh btw. Mea culpa for not taking the advice of some of the reviewers to stick with a single instead of a double cheeseburger; along with the added avocado, it became much too unwieldy to hold and it became an unmitigated mess to eat... SB gives you a generous amount of well made crinkle-cut fries which I gravitated to more so because my burger was so messy. As it was, I probably left a third of my meal behind... The people behind the window were Asian and have that mom-n-pop appeal to it, accommodating. I was there from 100 to 130pm on a Wednesday and they seemed to have a steady stream of business. Super Burger is SUPER! I live down the street from this place. So I have been here a few times the only things I have tried are the breakfast burrito and the SUPER burger. The breakfast burrito was... okay. nothing special but really large in size (not worth getting again). The 2nd time i went the owner told me "we have good burgers" so i said let me get a burger and fries. the burger was amazingly good. big, juicy, flavorful. and the fries... crunchy and perfectly fried. Another time i went, i had crazy munchies so i said "give me the double cheeseburger." the double cheeseburger is way way too much food - close to a 1 lb of meat. Although the flavors were still there it was just too much. The only complaint about this place is their invariable hours... their signs says 7am-7pm but i think they kind of just open and close whenever they want. they are usually open for lunch. And now, after 83 coats of paint and numerous owners, Super Burger looks like it hasn't aged a bit. Of course, we now live in 2008, so it's a bit of a relic. The fact is that Super Burger is the only place in that immediate area, so they survive on those who are whizzing by and realize that they are famished. But even if you're famished, be prepared for a vast array of deeply mediocre food. Super Burger is my new favorite burger dive shack. For under 5$ you can get a huge, really tasty burger. The burger patty was very thick- seemed like a 1/2 pound of meat. I added cheese, avocado and bacon- and hooey that burger was good (raised the price to 8$ I think). If this burger was sold at a hipster establishment, it would easily be a 10-15$ burger. We just recently moved to a new office location with no restaurants in walking distance. My friend looked this place up and we drove on over. It's a small location with limited seating outside but since we were getting it to go, this was no problem. I ordered the Cheeseburger Combo while my friend got a Double Cheeseburger with Onion Rings. We got our food extremely fast and hurried back to our office to eat it. The owner's son, the young Asian guy, has a major attitude problem. I've eaten there half a dozen times and the mom is so so - brisk and hurried mannerism, but not rude. But the son who occasionally mans the counter has a serious attitude problem. Rude, surly, condescending, and will hurt this business in the long run. Really a shame because I'm sure the family works hard and it's probably not his intent to ruin the place, but he is. I had to bite my tongue multiple times not to be rude back to him and give him a piece of my mind, but for the sake of their family, I held back. Happened again today. There's no pleasant, "How are you doing, what can I get for you?" He usually just walks up to the counter and just stands there or blurts out, "What do you want?" After I placed my order, I wanted to make sure he got my order right and he just retorted, "Yeah, you already said that." C'mon guy... Then after I got my food, I asked for a cup of water and he repeated probably 3 times, "You want water?" As if it's beneath him to give me water. While eating, I witnessed the guy being rude to another customer and he didn't hold back like I did. After a furious exchange, he took back his money and left. The burger is actually pretty good. Tastes like real meat, not some frozen disc like a burger chain's. Fries are usually overcooked to a point of resembling potato chips, but it's edible. The ketchup they have in the red plastic bottle is nasty. They really need to invest some money on Heinz, not that watery Hunts. Despite the son, I sometimes get the craving for their burger and come back. But today, I lost my appetite. If you're not up for the gourmet burger hype and wants some hole-in-the-wall burger goodness, the burgers at Super Burger are pretty awesome. I had a pastrami burger all to myself. It was huge. I could have easily shared it, but...I was trying to prove a point that day, anyways...I digress. The burger itself was well seasoned. Every bite I had was consistent with flavor and texture (no odd bites of JUST lettuce.. I hate that). I even enjoyed the onions (which I don't normally unless they're grilled...) Free fries with check-in, but DON'T do it if you're not sharing them because these portions are pretty huge. Don't waste that potato! The burger is huge enough. Save your calories. Incredible, the best burger around, wish there were 6 stars. (That's for the folks that won't get past the first sentence.) I have lived in Altadena for fifteen years. I tried Super Burger several years ago and quite frankly it was awful. Which makes me wonder just how many folks there are out there like me, you've driven by this place year after year and haven't stopped in, because of it's past history. After reading the posts here on Yelp, I discovered sometime in 2009 Super Burger got new owners. Well, I was very reluctant to try this place again not knowing they had new owners, and the place looks just like it did all those many years ago. It's not very inviting, looks like a dump, which they really should do something about, because it's not very promising from the outside, not to mention they never seem to have any customers. (sad) So I was checking out Yelp, again, for good burgers in the neighborhood, and low and behold, Super Burger was getting all these great reviews, much to my surprise. Could all of these people be talking about the same place I visited. Apparently not, meaning change of ownership. I have tried just about every burger shack in and around Altadena & Pasadena. I can tell you, it is by far the best hamburger in town. It's like an In-and-Out on steroids and so much better and you can't beat the fries. We've all gotten so use to those pre-made wafer thin patties that taste like cardboard, that have to be smothered in some secret sauce, to hide the fact. We've reluctantly just come to expect that's the way it's going to be. Well surprise surprise, Super Burger makes their hamburger with real beef patties that have some heft to them. Caution, don't get the double burger like you always do, it's way too big, then again, go ahead, enjoy. The pictures don't lie, if you were wondering. A buddy of mine said he had a burger from this place and had a boner while he ate the burger. No way is a burger that good. Decided to check it out and boy was he right. One bite and you will fall in love with their burgers. It will run you about $7 for a burger itself, but it sure is better than those high end burger places. This place takes credit card. Park on the street and there is only outdoor seating. Just come here and order any of their burgers and nothing else and you will be come a fan. I couldn't take pics because I ate it so quickly. There's something about their patties that are just great! Had this place for the first time and man was I full after! I ordered a double pastrami burger combo and was not disappointed. The parties were cooked nicely and cheese was oozing. The pastrami was also a nice salty touch on top. The fries were your regular freezer fries, but still nice and crisp. The only thing I didn't like was it's more of a burger stand with no interior and it was really hot outside. I do recommend if you're in the mood for a great burger! read more

Where to start with this behemoth of a burger... If you're coming here with the intention of getting one of those burgers the size of your fist that's all grass fed, with some off the wall odd vegetable as a filler and served with a sauce that you've never heard of, this burger is not for you. This burger simply put, is in n out's far older brother who was hooked on steroids and went to prison for a few years. This burger is greasy, thick, and makes it hard to breathe after you've finished it. I purchased the double cheeseburger and threw bacon on top (Don't you damn well judge me) because bacon is a lifestyle choice. I thought i knew what a burger was till i bit into this thing. It was perfectly cooked, moist, and cheesy. Each bite seemed better then the last and for the price that it's offered, it's a no brainer. You can get a double cheeseburger, fries, add an extra topping and get a drink for around 7 bucks. Beat that Carls Jr. The location is a tiny little stand with around 7 outdoor seats, I think it's family owned and operated and the staff was very friendly. Working on an ambulance, you know that if Fire is there eating lunch, it's most likely a good spot to go (Sorry guys). The place was busy at around 2 PM which was a promising sign. If you're in Pasadena and want a good old fashioned American man burger that's not trying to be anything it's not and steam rolls the competition in doing so. Come here. As much as In-N-Out prides itself on it's never-frozen ground chuck, it's the bun, the cheese, and the thousand island that keeps us going back for more. The fries are crispy and golden yet soft and fluffy on the inside. Overall a good meal. The menu also offers a wide variety of other foods that are also pretty great.
