Bryan installed a system for us last July and we were very happy with the entire process from start to finish. The volunteers were very courteous and pleasant to have around. Most importantly though the system is state of the art with micro inverters that show us production per panel. The panels are very high end and do not distract from the aesthetics of our home, and we were very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was to purchase the system. NO monthly lease payments, NO concerns if we were to sell our home that the buyers might not qualify to assume the system and our electric bill is just under $10.00 per month. A win - win! We're so happy we came across Sun Work and Bryan Noel. Andy & Diane Andrews Grover Beach, CA

In a word. . . impressive. I started this process towards the beginning of the year not even imagining that this would go as well as it had. I decided to educate myself, and fortunately I came across SunWork during my research. I couldn't have asked for a better scenario because I was the perfect candidate for their business model, customers who are interested in learning the in's and out's of the system and how it is all put together. Mind you, if you want to be hands off, they cater to that as well, but I think they really would rather have their customers get involved as much or as little as they would like. Before I found SunWork and reached out to them, my mindset was that I was going to do this completely on my own. I feel like going through this process and learning what I did, I have a greater understanding and could probably get it done on my own. SunWork provided me the opportunity to take my baby steps when it came to getting this project going. When I first reached out to SunWork, because of the 'S' Tile on my roof, it wasn't looking like it was going to be a reality. I'll be honest, I begged and pleaded to work with this non-profit, because I knew they were EXACTLY what I was looking for, and I believed the same was true of them, whether they knew it or not. I think I may have convinced them when I showed them that I was in this for all the right reasons. I was not looking just for a bargin, although that was a huge selling point for me, I was looking for a partner and a teacher, Bryan (project leader) was just that. After a bit of begging and convincing, I was told Bryan would have to do a site survey and he would be the final decision making authority. My wife and I waited for our site survey with Bryan and crossed our fingers for the best. When Bryan arrived I did my best not to try and scare him away with how much I wanted to work with him, it worked. He did a very thorough and meticulous site survey and I knew this was exactly what we needed for our home. Bryan got back to me after a few days, said the 'S' Tiles were typically a no-go for the volunteer model, but we could make it work, since they were of good quality. My wife, uncle and I attended both free workshops, (which I also highly recommend) one for volunteer training and the other for "Going Solar", which, by that time we already had a signed contract and a project date confirmed. I went to the class eager to learn and nervous about getting volunteers, especially since we live in Orcutt. I believe by the end of the workshops we had a full list for both days. Fast forward a couple weeks and the project was upon us. Bryan, myself, my uncle, my wife and volunteers got to work. Bryan was so patient as we had a crew of first timers, but as we went the work seemed to flow pretty well. Everyone had a job and a purpose. At times I felt a bit useless, as I was pretty unsteady on my feet and around these types of tools, but I felt included and I felt like I had a purpose in being there, not just a spectator. Bryan worked hard, even surpassing the normal "work" hours to get us ahead of schedule for the following days work, which was really admirable. I'm glad Bryan did that for us because it turns out there was a last minute cancellation (no fault on the part of SunWork) for volunteer. My uncle, Bryan and myself worked hard to get the panels up, wired and the system online by the early afternoon. I could go on about SunWork, Bryan and why solar is so important. I will, but not in this format, I plan on volunteering and doing what I can to get SunWork more projects and more happy people. Bryan was a pleasure to work with, I guarantee your system won't be slapped together and thrown into place like a commercial installer does.

Among the many donkeys that call this place home, are a few mules which are equally as gentle and friendly. Making the time to come visit such an organization as this, is a rare and unique experience that I highly recommend. The "paint with a donkey and have some wine" events are exceptional, will come with lunch and usually a live band while you channel your inner Picasso and paint.... you'll see. The staff are always very gracious and welcoming and quick to make sure guests learn what these animals are all about. Book an event- you won't be sorry, great value for a worthwhile experience.

A Big Dose Of Joy…read more.... My wife and I have always been big fans of farm animals. Cows, goats, horses, sheep. By and large, they're some of the sweetest beings on earth. Fortunately, we've got several sanctuaries nearby which provide much needed care for abandoned, abused and/or neglected animals. One such place is the Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary about 10-15 minutes northeast of the village part of Arroyo Grande. A group of 5 made arrangements with the owner, Jim Eckford, to tour the property and visit their residents during a late Thursday morning. Set in the foothills of the coast range amidst ranches and vineyards, Rancho Burro is a sight to behold. The grounds are gorgeous, facilities very well maintained and you feel as if civilization is far away...although, of course, it's actually nearby. Jim and his wife, Carlen, along with a few employees and several volunteers, make a home for 11 donkeys and 1 burro (a cross between a horse and donkey). Forget any negative myths you might have about donkeys. After giving you the "smell test", these guys and gals could not have been more friendly. During the hour we spent in their corral, Jim gave us a quick lesson in the history of each donkey and encouraged us to get up close and personal. Just like people, they all had a different personality. However, the common denominator was an undeniable sweetness. The sanctuary is a not-for-profit 501c(3) organization and relies on grants and donations. Besides private tours like our group of 5, they also host larger ones such as a girl scout troop scheduled for later that same day. If your heart appreciates a shot of pure joy, check out the Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary. You'll never consider donkeys in the same way.

It's reassuring to know that San Luis Obispo County is doing everything in their power to offer assistance that is obviously much needed. And it's reassuring that the premises were clean & safe enough for all ages to obtain services.

We turned into Cuesta at the most northern entrance and drove along the newly paved street back all the way back to the Achievement House where the nursery in the thrift store are located. It was a beautiful day and there was lots of free parking. We used to donate a lot here, but be sure to check the regulations for what you can donate. There were a lot of books and household goods being donated while we were there and it's easy to drive up and get them out of your car onto the little table there. We walked through the big greenhouse that is the retail nursery and found a few succulents that we didn't have yet. Because I started my succulent garden here. I do have most of these succulents available in my backyard, but there's always something new in different to try. We were warmly welcomed by the two workers doing their watering, moving plants and one man assembling succulents in baskets with different colored stones and gravel. This would make great gifts! I took a short tour through the thrift store after we were done purchasing our plants. There were many items that would be ideal for college students setting up housekeeping!

I would definitely return when I am in the area. 8/24/25
