Bryan installed a system for us last July and we were very happy with the entire process from start to finish. The volunteers were very courteous and pleasant to have around. Most importantly though the system is state of the art with micro inverters that show us production per panel. The panels are very high end and do not distract from the aesthetics of our home, and we were very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was to purchase the system. NO monthly lease payments, NO concerns if we were to sell our home that the buyers might not qualify to assume the system and our electric bill is just under $10.00 per month. A win - win! We're so happy we came across Sun Work and Bryan Noel. Andy & Diane Andrews Grover Beach, CA

The salesman, Jeff was extremely helpful and communicative in explaining to me our roofing options (needing replacement due to the prior roof's age) and the solar system we would need to minimize any future payments to PGE as well as obtaining tax credits and rebates. We had a complication in that we were in the process of purchasing the house and the purchase was not set to go final until early-mid December 2025. Also, the holidays. Axiom staff stepped up big time. Even though they had other projects in the works, they squeezed us in. These complications required continuous coordination between Axiom representatives with the prior home owner (who was still occupying the house), and separately me because the prior owner's agent made it clear that the sellers and buyers (me) were not to directly communicate. In other words, Axiom had to work this project with two "owners" of the house, owners that were instructed to not talk to each other. As I was a "newbie" to solar I had lots of questions (and a desire for perfection). Clay and Justin were extremely patient with me every time I emailed, called, texted or visited their shop (to drop off payments) to coordinate the work, and for them to explain exactly what was being installed and all the installation steps that were being taken. I especially want to call out Justin and Sean for making sure we got the system hooked up as quickly as possible to PGE to export energy to the grid. Sean came by twice after the installation was complete, first to ensure PGE would bless the hookup and second to walk me through the system and show me how to work the App. The roof looks great and the system is working great. I strongly recommend these folks for roofing and solar system installations.

The contract price included everything needed, including the county building permit. Although they installed my 240 volt outlet adjacent to my electrical panel as I preferred, I learned that it would have been the same price for a very long wiring run which would make it an even better value because it affords the flexibility of locating the outlet at the most convenient location for anyone. Their installation team was very friendly and did the job professionally. My project manager also applied for the 3CE rebates on my behalf, and that brought the total cost down to $250. In checking up on the status of my rebate applications, the 3CE agent confirmed that their funding for rebates is unaffected by the current federal government's pulling back of existing approved and funded programs, as well as closure of offices and various government services that provide support. All's good!

One of the selling points was that we would be able to receive a rebate from Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) upon completion of the project. Photon Brothers told us that they would help us with the rebate and application process. Although they did help with the application process, they failed to explain many of the requirements needed to obtain the rebate. For instance, we were never told that we had to program our battery to discharge at least 50% of its capacity daily during peak hours for a two-week period while 3CE would monitor the battery system. Upon completion of the application it stalled, because we did not know about this requirement. At least half a dozen phone calls were made to 3CE to try and figure why we were not getting our rebate. It took us over a year to figure this out, with NO HELP from Photon Brothers. Their response was something akin to, "This is between you and 3CE." A simple explanation would have relieved us of much aggravation. We finally received our rebate in March of 2026, well over a year from when we first applied. In addition, we never received instructions from Photon Brothers on how to use the Tessla App to maximum the benefits of the battery system. When we would call Photon Brothers for help with the App, sometimes we received assistance, while other times, no one called us back. We watched the Tessla Battery videos and did not find them helpful. In conclusion, we are disappointed with the lack of support received from Photon Brothers.

We had to repaint the hallway and ceiling when they left...which took them a long time to do. The whole project took nearly a year! Their electrical engineers also messed something up. Post install, we're constantly having problems with the circuits in the house. We chose Photon Brothers because I thought that choosing a local company would give us a better result, but we only just got to pay more. And the reason they get two stars instead of one is because they did make my electricity bill lower.

We paid them visit and had a very positive experience with the staff. In early November (2023) we ordered an insert, hoping it might come before the holidays but expecting it would come before the new year. Rick Brown (Brown Construction, our installer) was set to install the insert the first week of January (he was very clear that his December calendar was pretty full)--but he was unable to do so, because Pacific Energy had ordered an insert for Propane (we have Natural Gas). So Pacific Energy had to order a small conversion kit. That did not come until the end of March, and Rick was finally able to complete the installation, a week after the first day of spring and 4 1/2 months after we paid the 50% deposit on the insert. Appropriately, Pacific Energy emailed shortly after about the balance due, generously noting "we are not charging you for the Conversion kit from LP to NG." Since Pacific Energy ordered the wrong thing in the first place, that did not seem all that generous, especially since their error caused the installation to be delayed an additional two months, past the end of winter. The staff was very helpful in helping us choose an insert, Rick was terrific, and we're very happy with the insert now that the installation is done. Our advice to others is that if you want to be confident of having work done by Christmas (around the beginning of winter), you should probably place an order before the end of summer.

I knew I could trust him when he talked me down from 2 to 1 battery. Given that outages here usually last less than a day, a second battery would have been overkill. We also liked that the panels come from Europe, not from China. The Tesla Series 3 battery is simply better in every way than the others. The only downside is that we waited several extra months to get it. BFSE navigated the byzantine world of the Carmel Planning Commission to get the system approved. There was a bit of a kerfuffle about clearance from the property line, which required we reposition 4 of the panels, but Grant got it done. The hero of the install was Jonathan. He is a master electrician and solar wizard, and a very resourceful handyman. He honchoed the installation process, and has helped us understand what we bought and how to maximize its value. It is a seriously complex system, much smarter than I ever imagined. Did you know the system keeps an eye on the weather forecast? If storms are coming, it overrides my settings and puts all the solar into charging the battery to the max, and keeps it that way until the forecast clears. Beware of companies offering to install your system for no cash upfront, just pay them a few hundred dollars a month for 25 years. Check on their reviews before you sign up. Their hardware may be OK, but they seem to struggle to provide good aftersale and after-install service on these complicated systems.

Bright Future Solar Energy was 1 of 2 vendors willing to provide this feasibility study of 3 different designs showing equitable allocation of solar roof space knowing full well that there were 3 entities to contend with - Cal Poly Corporation that owns the ground sublease, HOA and external community property manager The Management Trust. These 2 vendors had Cal Poly affiliations as other vendors shied away from this challenge. Heath B. graduated from Cal Poly in 2005. Bright Future Solar Energy's team - Heath, Joel, Scott, et. al. - were really great to work with. They came up with solar panel designs for the 3 different buildings. They priced the project really competitively, but we were not able to get 5 units to qualify for the discounts to sign on. I'm writing this review to acknowledge their tremendous efforts in the bid process.
