I love eating here for breakfast. Their pancakes are huge, I usually get the Texas toast with it which is a meal in itself. Great service, super friendly. Balanced menu, typical home cooking, diner food. Tried the bratwurst with kraut, side of potatoes and the navy bean soup. The last 2x I went to eat here in the past 6 mo. I have to say the food was very, very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful & always filling up coffee . OK, first of all this place is south of HWY33 behind the Shell Travel Mart. It sits in the same area as Walkers and Benvenuto's. So you have your pick of three restaurants here. Walker's is the original for this area and has been here for decades. I had never been to Sunview and decided to give it a try. It's a family restaurant and in some ways it puts other family restaurants to shame. The entire place is very clean and they have a good vibe. The servers all seem happy and there are pictures on the wall of friends and family but not cluttered. Seemed very organized and well run. The menu is quite large. More selection than I care for. Breakfast served all day, 7 days a week. Prices are cheap to moderate. Definitely a good deal on everything we ordered, Meatloaf, chicken, burger. Our main dishes were all very good and super hot when served which is a big plus. They have a unique type of french fry that was done perfectly and quite good. The burger was huge and of good flavor but not quite over the top for me. The meatloaf was good, the chicken just ok. Skip the coffee and desert. Basic cafe desert and the coffee is typical "Wisconsin weak" and odd tasting. So great friendly service with some pretty good food for a good price and with great atmosphere. But they lost ground with us as the food didn't quite do it for us on flavor and they need to improve some of their side dishes and the coffee. Local diner which could be OK but the food here is really not worth the detour: greasy and everything feels and tastes cheap. Go for an upgrade and walk across the street to Walkers for usual diner fares of much better quality or if you are in the mood for Italian food go to Benvenuto's instead, granted Benvenuto's will set you back a few more bucks. read more

Friendly service, great oatmeal

On Saturday 7/17/2021 at about 8:30AM my wife wanted to go to a nice sit down restaurant before we headed out to Iowa for a mini vacation. The lady sat us down at table # one and gave us a menu. After about 10 minutes a girl walked by and said i'll be with you. Well we sat for at another 7 minutes and still nobody came and even asked us if we would like something to drink or take our order. In fact we heard another waitress tell our supposed waitress-- has anyone taken #1 tables order. My wife said let's give her 2 minutes more then we walk out. Well 3 minutes went by and we got up to leave. All of a sudden as we went to the exit--we heard our absent waitress blaming a payment ticket left over by a previous diner is why she never came to take our order--like it was our fault. But we had our two menus there on the table plus she told us she would be with us to take our order. As i went out the door--3 of the workers by the cash register looked confused as to why we were leaving. I told a worker named Logan that we knew from before--we waited and waited--now her time is up--we're going to Iowa--have a good day. This isn't Sunview's or any of the other workers fault--this is this one rude waitress that i will never step inside their restaurant again because of. If i'm going to spend around $30 to $40 on a meal--i expect some common decency and have somebody at least notice we have been sitting for close to 20 minutes just waiting. Totally unacceptable--i'm over it--i will not waste money going to a place that doesn't want to at least have the decency to not ignore us for around 20 minutes. If anyone in management would like to know more about our rude waitress experience--talk to Logan and talk to the girl that on Saturday at 8:30 AM that was seating the customers--they would know since they looked confused as to why we were leaving. Yelp has me listed as San Fransisco,Ca. but i live right here in Beaver Dam. I guess we just had a bad waitress & bad luck deciding on Sun View. We have been to Sun View about 20 times--maybe we don't have enough visits to warrant a decent experience--maybe they don't have a manager to make sure patrons are treated decent. I write this only that again maybe--some other diner is never treated like this. And before you think--they must had been busy--no. They had people in there but we saw waitresses be cordial to other patrons. Sunday morning at 9:20 am my wife was still fuming so she called Sun View--the guy she talked to blamed it on that they are remodeling why they have a rogue rude waitress. I always hear people say--promote your local restaurants and waitresses--they need your business and support to stay alive. Pretty soon restaurants like this will be gone due to bad services and inflated pricing. I ordered the Feta Spinach omelette which can be hit or miss depending...this time it was moist and not dry so it was excellent! I ordered American fries with onions as well and they were excellent too. The only downside was the waitress never came around to ask how everything was and I didn't see her again until after I was finished eating. This was not an issue however, because my food was fine and another employee was filling people's coffee! read more

Probably the best breakfast in Beaver Dam, maybe Dodge County. I don't get out much for breakfasts, but this places has good prices, good food, and friendly staff. I have never eaten any meals except breakfast here, so I can only speak for that. I always get the cinnamon French toast or the Hobo Skillet. Both are extremely good. The skillets are recommended if you have a big appetite. Sometimes restaurants manage to screw up hashbrowns, but Sunview gets them perfect IMO. The only reason I took a star off is that sometimes it's really busy so it can be slow. I also have seen a couple of drain flies. I don't think it's a serious problem at all, however. read more

I generally only go to Sunview for breakfast and it is the ONLY place I will go for breakfast in Beaver Dam (I've tried Walkers twice and was let down both times both by quality of food and, more importantly, quality of staff). The staff at Sunview (especially the servers) and owners are the most attentive and friendly I have seen in a busy breakfast atmosphere. My coffee cup is never empty, food service is amazingly fast, and quality is excellent. read more

I must be missing something. We seen some five star reviews in BeaverDam and most can,t compare to Sunview. The food selection is not large but what is listed on the menu is well prepared and large portions are the norm. Breakfest is above the norm in taste. Lunch & dinner are also very good. I had eaten here quite often in the past & was usually pleased with the food & service. Sorry to say, my last visit will be just that. Someone (I suspect a particular waitress, Tammy) added something to my food causing me to have an allergic reaction through my skin. Looked like miniature chicken pox & lasted a week. We suspect it was the kitchen sanitizer but will never be able to prove it. She obviously 'sides' with my ex-husband. Good Luck with that, honey. Our first time here. Saturday morning and was expecting it to be busy but we were seated right away. Service was very quick and our waitress was very nice. We liked the large menu. we ordered eggs, French toast, bacon, hash browns, ham, and biscuits and gravy. The food was relatively good. didn't particularly enjoy the margarine on the toast and the gravy on the biscuits seemed rather gelatinous. They have recently changed the grill and also serve specialty burgers. I also like the scalloped potatos.
