Overall our waitress was nice enough. No real complaints. Cute little place. The belly bites were ok. Didn't love them but didn't hate them. The chicken bacon ranch wrap was good. The tortellini sausage soup was great. My only complaint is my husbands drink. He doesn't drink alcohol and he always orders a soda water with cranberry juice. We've always been charged the price of a soda everywhere we go. But for some reason they must have used some fancy stuff because it cost us $8!!! Not even in big cities have we been charged that much for that drink. So overall we'd probably go back. But he's definitely ordering a water next time.

Excellent dining experience!!! We were visiting from out of town and Yelp helped us find this place. Great back bar selection and choices of cocktails . Dam Chicken is next door and their offerings were on the menu. We ordered the boneless chicken with Nashville Hot and the OMG Smash Burger with tator tots. Best burger and chicken we have had in a really long time (forgot to take photos before we dove in). Found out the restaurant open last May. What a great addition to the community. Staff was friendly and attentive. The manager Brenda stopped to chat and we had a great time taking about bourbon and tequila. Definitely recommend and will be back!!!

5/31/22 - 6:50 PM * I've actually been following this place since the announcement months ago, and it opened up without any notice. Speaking with the staff this is a soft opening * Parking in the back is recommended since the street in the main entrance is under construction. The back is filled with outside dinning that looks promising in great weather. It is connected to another restaurant and has a room dedicated to slots (Game room). The actual restaurant is nice and has an inviting bar area. Menu is limited, and it's best to look online to see if something catches your appetite. Vegetarians will find options here. Overall, stop by for a drink and check it out! Pros: Attentive service Adult game room Background music Atmosphere Outdoor dining/parking Drink menu - various beer/wine/top shelf Cons: Limited menu

Maxwell Mansion is a wedding venue, motel and a cocktail bar. I was here mostly for the cocktail…read morebar, but I did get a tour of the mansion and grounds. The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

Focusing the review on the apothecary bar. You need to know the password to get in the speakeasy. A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!
