We didn't want to be rude so we had a drink but the vibes were off and it felt uncomfortable. When we asked about Andrea they both were clueless as to where she was and when or if she would be back. The following Friday was daunting. It's usually packed. The bar was empty and sad. Still now a full week later, same bartender Tee. No Drea . Read other Yelp reviews who had the same experience. Then , in one last attempt we came on Walter's shift who's always knowledgeable and he also knew zero information. It's like she vanished. Been coming here for years. There was only one other patron at one end of the bar scrolling on his phone and a couple focused on each other near the window. None of the patrons were engaged in watching any of the TVs. I was 10' away from each. I was straining to hear the show with all the other noise from unwatched TVs but I managed. I ordered another beer. At which point, the juke box began to play so loud that not only could I no longer hear anything of the Grammy's, I couldn't hear myself think. I paid and left my beer on the counter. I get that this was not an ideal setting to watch the Grammy's but I had called ahead. There was no need to play the jukebox at that level given the patronage that was there IMO. The Grammy's come on once a year surely, watching Bruno Mars live is a better choice than a juke box.

Tonight was my first night returning to this bar since losing Drew, who held karaoke nights here…read moreand made so many people including myself feel welcomed, accepted, encouraged, and genuinely seen. He created a space where people felt safe to express themselves and enjoy music without feeling judged. Coming back tonight was already emotionally difficult for me because I am still grieving his loss heavily. I became emotional while trying to explain how much Drew meant to me and how some of the interactions that night made me feel dismissed and unwelcome during a vulnerable moment. I also want to respectfully mention that certain details surrounding Drew's passing did not need to be repeatedly brought up in conversation. I understand no harm may have been intended, but hearing those details spoken about so openly was deeply upsetting and emotionally difficult for me personally. I calmly approached the owner and said I wasn't trying to cause drama and simply wanted to express how hurt and unheard I felt. His response was, "I don't want drama," before walking away from me while I was crying and trying to explain myself. That moment honestly broke my heart even more. I completely understand businesses have rules, closing times, and boundaries. But when someone is grieving the loss of a person who helped create such a loving environment there, compassion and kindness matter deeply. Drew always made people feel like they could take up space and be themselves. I just wish my first experience returning after his passing had reflected even a fraction of the warmth and humanity he gave to others.

This particular night my group came for the drag show and we had a BLAST! Its a mixed all Inclusive crowd of people who just wanted to have a fun night. Drinks were prepared quickly and the entertainment was so much fun. Best part was we didn't have to drive all the way into SF!
