Bought a car from them late 2023, in November, the 24th. Exactly a month later, the intake blew up, causing me to warp a head and almost explode my engine. The car had 104000 miles on it when I got it. A 2003 mustang is meant to have the intake replaced at 100k. It's normal maintenance. You can Google it. Anyway, after I called about 5 times where I kept getting dodged or hung up on, they finally agreed to tow it for $200, and if they decided it was "actually broken" (I sent them a video of the intake spewing out) then they'd fix it. So I then did some digging into the car, now that I owned it, and found I had a branded title and 2 major accidents. Now why didn't I do a report before I bought the car? The VIN listed online wasn't accurate to what's on the car. That's why. Tl;dr: Don't buy a car from here. They will screw you in the long run. read more

So a couple years back I bought a Dodge Neon from Sunshine Auto. Car was supposed to be in excellent shape with no issues. We signed the paperwork and we're on our way. Went across the street to a gas station to fill up and guess what? Battery was junk. Car would not start back up without a jump start. Shortly latter we had a wheel barring go out. Then an exhaust issue and then if that was not enough the transmission coolant like burst on the highway. Turned out the radiator was so rusted that the whole thing needed to be replaced. Then a short 2 months latter the timing belt broke and in turn bent the pistons and basically junked the engine completely. Beware of sunshine Tom. The guy is a crook. Now he has started to make Facebook ads for sunshine auto and I simply put that he sells junk cars and to beware. I got a private message from him threatening to sue me if I keep doing it. read more

This place is very not great... bought a vehicle that needed a new engine didn't even have it for 3 months and been in the shop for repairs and a new engine.... Very frustrating when a person buys a care for 10,000$$$ and have to turn around and spend another 10,000$$$ in repairs... sell junk cars for top dollar. Not recommended read more

I bought a car in may, when I got it home there were so many things wrong with it that I was lucky to get it home. the brakes are bad, it needed struts, ball joint and some kind of arm, the OD lite keep blinking which could be something wrong with the transmission, I had some one look at it who knows a little about cars and he said that the car had been in some kind of accident and several things had to be replaced underneath. I got a loan from my bank for this vehicle now I owe over 4000 dollars and can not even drive this car, it sits in my driveway it is so dangerous on the road, it actually veers to one side or the other. I am an older woman and have very low income, and now probably bad credit because I can not afford to pay for some thing I can't even use! 0 stars! read more

BUYERS BEWARE! I am very upset and disappointed in this place. My daughter purchased her first car from here. I now see that there was another bad review a few years ago with a very similar experience and want to share mine so someone else doesn't have to go through this. The car test drive went well but the car reeked of dogs. When we got back, I asked some questions. 1) Is there anything wrong with it that we need to know about; 2) How are the brakes; and 3) Is there any type of warranty? He said that there was nothing wrong with it and the brakes were at 80%. He also mentioned recently changing a wheel bearing and that there wasn't normally a warranty. And after a pause mentioned "not without paying extra"; that they could work on the car if anything went wrong with it and replace with used parts for a less expensive fix. So we left the lot with an almost empty gas tank and went straight to the gas station to fill it up since we drove from another city. The check engine light came on during the drive home so I took the car to our normal mechanic to check it out. The inspection shows there are many things wrong with the car - bad O2 sensor, bad rear brakes/rotors (only the front brakes were at about 80%) several bad wheel bearings, a leaking radiator, tires barely over the legal limit as well as additional items that need to be worked on. $1700 in work that needs to be done just to get the car updated and safe to drive; after being lied to I would not trust going back to this place for them to "fix" the car. It floors me that the owner let my daughter drive this car off of the lot. 4/2/17 update: Increased by a star. After her dad spoke with the owner about all of the issues with the car, they did fix most of the issues so that it was safe to drive (for no extra charge) as verified by my normal mechanic; however, now the CD/tape player/radio has an error message on it and no longer works (it worked prior to bringing it in to them for repairs). If it were not for this, would have increased rating even higher. I strongly recommend getting an inspection prior to purchasing any car from this lot. read more

Hi, After reading the reviews, I had to pipe in. First of all it's the buyer's responsibility to take a used car to another facility for a "pre-purchae used car inspection" before you buy, not afterwards!!! The scenarios presented here did things backwards. Anyone expecting a used car to be 100% is a fool. All cars need some things done no doubt. If a buyer isn't savvy, get with someone who is. Even afterwards there will be repairs. Repairs is part of car ownership. If you don't like it, ride the bus. You must budget accordingly. Now when you find a list of legit repairs, the cost will either be deducted from the sale price, or the car lot may opt to do the repairs himself. A "pre-purchae used car inspection" is not free and varies from place to place. Don't go to any shop recommended by any car lot, go to a shop of your choosing. There is a used car inspection sheet, pasted on each cars window. By state law each car must pass this inspection. So where do you go? Be smart, read up on the topic. There are books on the subject. Once you educate yourself there will be less fear of making mistakes. Tom's Sunshine Auto is not a bad car lot. Tom is not a bad guy. I purchase from Tom and so did friends of mine. We had no problems, like the scenarios presented here. Our experience was excellent because we did the proper "pre-purchae used car inspection." The negative comments were posted by buyers who had fairy-tale expectations. Maintenance and repairs is part of ownership not dealership. Educate yourself and be a smart informed buyer. It is the very rarest of occasions that I ever write reviews. In the case of my vehicle purchase from Sunshine Auto, I feel compelled to share my experience so that other review readers have the chance to decide for themselves. My husband and I needed to add a second vehicle to our family. Unfortunately, due to a layoff a few years ago, our credit took a very painful hit. In our attempts to purchase a reliable car from the lots claiming to be designed for people in our situation, we found a great deal of frustration. We literally visited nearly all of the big name Buy-here Pay-here/We Finance places in the Green Bay area. Each place we visited was either downright rude and disrespectful after reviewing our credit and refusing to assist us, or they offered to finance if we could put 5k down on a 7k car. Needless to say, we were at our wits end and had given up hope on getting something from a dealer and had begun to check out beaters by owners online. Then, a co-worker mentioned a place in Menasha, Sunshine Auto. I reluctantly checked out the website and saw they had reasonable prices so I convinced my husband to let me drag him there. When we arrived on the lot, a gentleman cleaning a vehicle immediately spoke to us and welcomed us to look around. He offered not to hover while we looked but was there if we had questions or saw something we wanted to test drive. A few minutes later, a different gentleman who turned out to be the owner, Tom, came over and introduced himself and asked if he could help. We told him we were looking to buy a car and wanted to test drive a few. He was so patient with us while we drove at least 10 vehicles. We finally decided on a reasonably priced SUV. It was time to discuss financing options so I went in to the office to speak to him while my husband and little girls played with the store pet dog outside. I asked how the financing worked to get the SUV. I was very upfront and honest about our credit in an effort to avoid wasting anyone's time. Tom told me I wouldn't be able to finance any of the cars we had looked at, but could likely get approved for an even better one that we didn't look at because we didn't think we could ever get approved for it. I was excited about that prospect but also not optimistic. I explained to him about our unpleasant experiences at the other places and how everyone had turned us down for financing. I sadly told him not to bother because I knew we would not be able to get it done. This is where Tom really showed his true colors. He, in all sincerity and sympathy, looked at me and said "Will it hurt if we just try? I really want to help you and your family." I spoke to my husband briefly, and we decided to attempt one last time to get financing. You know what? It worked. We now have a beautiful, reliable, new-to-us car. Is it perfect? No, it isn't. It is a used car so I know better than to expect showroom quality. I could not be more pleased with our vehicle and the exceptional kindness and genuine concern Tom has given. He went above and beyond any expectations I might have had. 5 stars aren't enough! read more

To all the penny pinchers who think they are going to save money, let alone time and hassle by purchasing a vehicle from here, you're in for a huge surprise. First of all I cannot believe the owner (Tom) had the audacity to let me leave the parking lot wit two bad rear drum brakes, broken tie rod a worn out ball joint, bald tires( which were turned over to the inside so no one would notice) a descending transmission, a spare key but no actual manufacturers key, no a/c, less than 1/8 tank of gas, worn serpentine belt etc.. The list goes on. Yes I had very bad credit so I was just relieved he was selling me a vehicle! Upon my numerous returns to confront him I was always told he was gone, or busy, or will call me as soon as possible. Seeing as he let me give him a post dated check for down payment I decided to cancel the check. He decides to turn me into the calumet co. D.A. Where I was facing a huge fine and being sued for his neglect to my constant attempts to reach him. How can you even call yourself a human being! After finally getting all this fixed at Tuffy's in Appleton I attempted to bring him my $3200 bill; note I bought and financed at 12% for $8,000 bringing my total to $10,500 give or take, I already paid more for repairs than I did for monthly installments, he said he is not liable the damn credit company would not let me trade without his consent and now I'm stuck with a lemon. I seriously hope he does what he did to me and many others to the wrong person and karma will eat him alive! What a piece of ...... That guy is! Purchased a 2007 vw Passat. Low tire pressure light was on. I asked why and was told they aired up a tire it would reset after so many miles. Got the car home in the morning the car doesn't start and tires flat. After attempts to start it it starts take it in there is a nail in the tire and 2 tires leaking air. We immediately called Tom who suggested it was the battery. Took the car in first thing Monday their mechanic says it's the starter, even tho when it doesn't start it doesn't even try to turn over. They say bring it back Tuesday and they'll put a starter in. Wensday am the car does not start again. It takes 4 to 10 tries and finally it turns over really hard. I took video of the issue and called and spoke to Brad. I drove the car back in and they said It was a bad starter again. I left the car there Thursday it did not start for them so they replaced the starter, Friday it started so I picked it up. Sat the car starts but the antifreeze light is on, they disconnected the hoses to put a starter in and didn't even bother filling it back up, Sun and Monday the car starts Tue I don't leave the house, Wed the car pulls it reoccurring no start after 4 or 5 times of trying it starts, sometimes after it does start the p light is on. I drive it straight in and speak to the main mechanic Hezues, he says it's possibly the ignition or a bad ground after 1.5 hrs of discussion and me explaining I want the car fixed or a refund as the light doesn't go off as promised, tires going flat and it not starting the vehicle did not match the window discription. I agree to let him get it fixed. I'm given a loaner vehicle as I open the door the track shambles and falls into a handful of pieces and this morning guess what it doesn't start. Junk battery even in the nice fresh mini van pulled of the lot. They preceeded to call and I return the call brad tells me the car has no issue. They had a random guy try to start it and it wouldn't start you have to hold the key. Well I'm pretty sure when a car doesn't start and you've tried 10 times you've surley held the key. And sometimes it does start. Brad proceeded to tell me I can't buy a car for 5,500 that doesn't have issues. I explained I didn't expect a brand new car but one that starts and matched the listing on the car. I asked for the car to be repaired or my money back. He says he'll have to talk to Tom. What a joke. They are ripping people off with knowen problems. read more
