Set a nice atmosphere while eating. My only gripe with this place and it is my biggest pet peeve. Is the service, I am not sure if they are understaffed or it was just the person that I had. But we had to flag her down more than a few times. When we were first seated and I asked a question about the menu before I could finish my question I was completely cut off. I thought that was rather rude. The service is slow! It should not take over 10 minutes to receive your drinks. Nor should it take about 45 minutes to receive your food. We have eaten at Sunsets several times over the last few years, but after the last experience we will not be back. Service was terrible. 1. They didn't have a drink menu and server was unable to verbally list available beers or drinks. Group was left to guess at drinks and hope they were available. 2. Ordered 4 appetizers which they forgot to enter/make. Entrees came out and we received the apps after dinner. When FINALLY received they shorted us several oysters. 3. Ordered second round drinks that never came. 4. Waitress blamed errors on how busy the place was and tried to joke with the table but came off unprofessional. 5. Bill contained items we didn't order. Where do I begin okay well I went there for a lunch date so the place was practically empty. I asked for lemonade and after one sip, I asked our server for extra lemon and sugar for my lemonade. To top it off my cup was cracked so my fake lemonade leaked all over the table. LOL. When it came to the food I ordered the fish taco and that was so oily, think I need to wring it out with a paper towel. My app was ok, calamari - can't really mess that up. My friends had dessert which they seemed to enjoy. My stomach started acting up so I passed on dessert. I figured I would have my dessert when I got home, Pepto Bismol. If you wanna save yourself time and aggravation, don't go there for a meal! Although the food was decent, the service was really really bad. After I ordered an ice water with 4 lemons, my guest ordered a coke. When the waitress returned my water only had 2 lemons, and her water had four. She then asked me if I wanted the four lemons and proceeded to take two, out her her Coke, and put them in my water. That was the last we saw of her. After almost 45 minutes of waiting, we asked another server where our food was, and she assured us we were next. 20 min later our food arrived with no surprises or disappointments! It's a good place to go for a drink with a spectacular view of the water, and of boats however, management seems to be totally disorganized and unable to cope with a restaurant of that size. read more

Made a reservation for 6 people at 7 pm.... we arrive 5 mts early and are told by the hostess there were no tables for us and her manager said we would have to wait "maybe" 20 to 25 mts...I asked why they did not honor my reservation and she said it doesn't work like that.... There are a lot of lame reviews for this place that are pretty unwarranted. It's right on the water and there is huge bar you can sit at or grab a table. There is a lot of seafood and a lot of alcohol. If you didn't go there for one of the other than you should obviously go elsewhere. It's a good spot to sit outside, have some drinks and some light food. There are always drink specials (except for Saturday) and the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. They have live entertainment too so that adds to the atmosphere. Go there and kill a few hours. read more

This spot had become a favorite during COVID. however, twice within the past 2 weeks, I have come in, and been screamed at by the same waitress to leave because they were "understaffed". Today, I was even sat by the host and she yanked the menus off my table and told me she refused to serve me, even though there were plenty of open tables. I understand waiting tables is overwhelming, but yelling at customers?? Huge no no. Went there this evening for dinner with my husband. Had a Groupon which we purchased and they said they didn't except. We ordered a hamburger and fries and lobster Mac n cheese. Our food came out after a while and the burger was wrong. The lobster was tough and tasteless. Now the "chef" came out after 10 minutes and said he scrapped the cheese off n here was my hamburger. The atmosphere is great, waterside dining and live music!!! The sunset is beautiful, the bartenders even ring a bell to alert you of the sun setting. The food is very good! My server Cara recommended the tempura avocado and seared tuna for apps! Yummmm! My friend got the seafood combo And I got the shrimp burger both of which were hot and delicious! I could have just eaten the fries as a meal alone. Honestly our whole meal was amazing, drinks were great and my service was perfect. Went here for lunch today with Toot. There is an outdoor bar overlooking the marina on the Shark River and that's where we sat. There were two other people at the bar but we had to nevertheless ask the bartender "can we get some drinks here?" Unbelievable! We were there to eat and Toot ordered Chicken quesadillas and I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. After giving us the menus the barkeep disappeared to the other side of the bar again until we finally had to yell to him "we're ready to order!" and he actually yelled back from across the bar "What do you want?!!!" I ordered my burger Medium and it came out very well done, after an interminable wait. We had one more beer and left. ! The view of the marina is worthy of 5 stars but the service was as bad as I've ever had and the food was just this side (the bad side) of mediocre. read more

Very disappointed in our experience at Sunsets Riverfront Restaurant last night. The bar was hopping and the band was good. We got there a little before 830 and were seated for dinner right away. The bar was packed but very few people were seated for dinner. Although there weren't many tables seated it took about 15 minutes to get someone to take our drink order. Then it took at least another 15 minutes to get our dinner order in. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was supposed to be breaded chicken and it was not. Looked like they took a grilled cutlet and poured some hot sauce in it. The roll was stale and he didn't eat it. I ordered the fried cod sandwich and that was supposed to be served with lettuce and tomato with house made tarter sauce. It was served with a lettuce leaf on another stale bun. No tomato. No tarter sauce. The fries were good and they were served hot. If you want a good meal with a water view I don't recommend going here. If you want drinks with a view than this may work. read more

Sushi is good and fresh. Wing sauce is hot and spicy but wings are small and fatty. Chicken and cheese empanadas are tasty....served with sour cream, really? Not even trying. Fried pickles are awesome. Service is mediocre at best. Basically it sucks. Basic apps/ Food took over 20 minutes to arrive. We (8 ppl) are sitting outside at the high tops by the bar. The bartenders and /or bussers have not once come by to take away any plates, or ask if us if we want more drinks. We've had to clean several times by bringing plates and glasses to the bar counter. No one came by to ask how the food is or how we doing. Really sad! Bartenders (females) have not smiled once. They look and sound miserable. Our group is having a great time bc we are just funny and happy ppl but I am not impressed by this joint at all. They survive solely on their liquor store/package goods store, and have a beautiful outdoor setting with the boats, water and sunset. They need serious improvement on menu and service. When we pulled up to Sunsets, we initially thought it would be overcrowded, but it turned out that it was just the summer happy hour crowd out by the bar. (Which, by the way, looked like fun and the live music was all really good - perhaps for another night.) In any case, we moved on to the main restaurant area, where our food was served quickly. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the while the prices seem slightly high at first glance, the value for the money made it quite reasonable. I ordered the fusilli pasta with sea scallops, which seemed a bit pricey at $23.95 for a pasta dish, but the number of perfectly cooked scallops that loaded up this very delicious meal made up for the cost. Still a little expensive, but a nice treat. They also have great nightly specials that are well worth the price, so if you're worried about the expense, $15.95 for a lobster dinner ($19.95 for a lobster stuffed with crab) is pretty great. I was lucky enough to have dining companions who let me sample all of their meals (yay!), and I have to say that everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and just delightful. read more

A friend and I drove down to the shore Friday night and wanted to try a different place to eat. I did some research and found Sunsets. It's on the water where boats are docked. We arrived about 5pm just in time for happy hour. Great diversified crowd 30s+ We both ordered red sangria ($5.00 a glass happy hour price). It had a nice little kick and plenty of fruit. Claire was our waitress and she was awesome, helpful and extremely accommodating. We started off with the lobster bisque that had just enough sweetness where when you put in the oysterette crackers you can taste the combo of sweet and salty. For an entree we shared the seafood platter. It came with flounder (about 3.5 skinny pieces), 4 shrimp, and 4 scallops. Instead of the rice pilaf, we got french fries. It also came with steamed veggies. The veggies were the only thing that was meh. Another situation where it seemed they were steamed out of a Bird's Eye bag but the fish was amazing! The flounder was so tender and flaky. The check came to a little over 50.00. I gave the waitress a nice tip because she was cool with us splitting the meal and kept coming over to check on us. It was definitely worth the hour and a half drive. We will be back! read more
