    So good

This was my second time at Sunsets, and both featured lots of fun. I guess I'd call first to ensure that I wasn't just a lucky gal, but both times I was here they had a band playing and people dancing. The setting at sunset is stunning and obviously name-worthy, and I have to admit a family picture at sunset is gracing my Christmas cards this year hahaha. Both times we ordered lots of appetizers and they got devoured instantly. I'm sure we'll be back next summer when visiting the beaches.

Read the reviews and was very apprehensive but gave it a try. Met friends and saw a great band on Saturday night. Much to our surprise the food was so delicious! All food came our quickly and hot! My crab cakes were delish and not all bread crumbs. The shrimp cocktail were fresh and large, Cesar salad cold and crisp! Our server Clair was so kind and extremely sweet, very attentive! A great night all around!

We had a great time here, and the food ( we had all sushi) was awesome. The band was a blast. Not sure why the low yep reviews but hopefully others with excellent experiences chime it. The service was great too, we waited a little long for 1 drink order and it was quickly comped for us. We we be regulars now.

This Groupon was denied, server said it's not valid on a Friday night...

Tonight I dined with my wife, daughter and niece. When we ordered drinks I asked the waiter about a Groupon I purchased (see pictures). After eating he told us the Groupon wasn't acceptable on Friday night. I read the fine print and don't see any restrictions for when it may be used. We paid and tipped 20% and left. Sad thing about Sunsets is I like the place. Their salads and sushi are among my favorites and the outdoor seating is relaxing. We will be back and use the Groupon, but be aware of the denial, and double check.

Had a reservation tonight (Friday) for my mothers birthday at 7. When pulling into the parking lot, I was turned off. It's a gravel parking lot and not organization whatsoever. Cats were parked however they could which was pretty frustrating. While waiting for the rest of the party to show up, we had a couple of drinks on the patio/outside bar. If rating only on the outdoor bar, I would give it a 5. The ambiance was a typical outdoor bar, but there was a live band that was pretty good, and the bartenders were friendly enough. You can tell this bar was filled with locals which was nice to see. The margaritas they made were good and prices not bad at all. Once we were ready to be seated, we were brought right away to a table on the patio. For a Friday night the restaurant was not busy at all which had me a little worried. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. We ordered a few appetizers (fried clam strips, chicken fingers, and pot stickers). They were all pretty good, no complaints. For dinner, I had the BBQ burger, and others had the surf and turf, snow crabs, and the steak sandwich. First, they cook the burgers and steak how you ask, maybe a little under (which for me isn't an issue). The burger was pretty good, fries were good and the crab was good. The filet that came with the surf and turf (ordered by my dad) had a fishy taste to it, which was weird. The lobster tail that came with it was very small but tasty. Our server also brought out a piece of peanut butter pie (really good) with a candle and a few other servers to sing happy birthday which was really nice. Overall, for 5 people for appetizers, drinks, and dinner, it was a nice meal. No major complaints or show stoppers. The view from the bar was nice. Not so much from the dining area because of all of the boats docked there (which is also cool if you have a boat). I would recommend for the outdoor bar area. Not sure if I would go out of my way to eat here again. Also, one drawback is someone had a medical emergency which there and was in the ladies room. As a result they were letting all the women in the men's room and not letting the men go in (which is fine I get that). But the problem was the staff was super rude about it. We were off to the side waiting and were told about three times to "move out of the way" (when we weren't in the way?). Guess some folks can't handle stressful situations but it was pretty irritating.

They were barely half full and the noise was not extremely loud. I had the New England clam chowder and as usual it was a great start to the meal. Plenty of clams and potatos in a creamy white sauce. To start the meal they also provided bread sticks with sesame seeds which is a real nice alternative to dinner rolls. With the sticks they also providing a dipping sauce that really tasted great. This the only place I can remember having breadsticks during dinner and loved it. For dinner I had stuffed flounder with rice and vegetables. The fish was prepared real well and came with plenty of crabmeat and stuffing. Inside it was real moist and tasted great. Along with that was rice and mixed vegetables. In the restaraunt the vegetables were a bit harder then I would prefer but when I reheated the meal at home they were perfect. But if you you are an al dente vegetable they would be fine for you. My wife picked something off the specials of the day. Shrimp, Mahi, broccoli, mushrooms, pine nuts all over rice. She felt this was a great meal and would definitely get it again. It was a nice blend of a bunch of tastes and textures, and the pine nuts are always a great addition to a meal. With less people to deal with the service was right on point, with several returns to our table to make sure everything was well. I feel you will always have a great meal here. But at times there will be a wait to get a table and it will be a bit loud... But in my mind you will always walk out smiling

It is not a scene that stirs the soul or quiets the mind, but it is fine for staring at when there is nothing else to do. I came for lunch on a weekend, early enough to avoid the mob that usually descends later in the day. Getting a table was easy. Finding a parking space was not. It is always the same story there, a little game of musical bumper cars. When I made it inside, I found the tables to be sticky in the way that suggests they had been wiped down but not really cleaned. The servers moved with the slow grace of people who had already given up on the afternoon. They were not rude, just absent in spirit. I ordered the fried oysters because it seemed like something they ought to do well. They were fine, in the way that lukewarm applause is fine. Not offensive, not memorable. The breading was heavy, the flavor lost somewhere between the fryer and the plate. For the price, one expects a little magic, or at least a spark of care. Neither arrived. Klein's feels like a place living off its own legend, a faded postcard from better days. People go because they have always gone. The fish is there, the view is there, but the heart of it seems to have gone missing. It is not terrible, but it is not worth the time or the money either. Three stars, mostly for nostalgia.

We were seated in the covered front deck area which was separated from the interior restaurant. It was an 80-85° day but the temperature in the space was relatively comfortable. We had grabbed a few bottles of white from the conveniently located liquor store across the street. I love me a good BYOB establishment. We started with the tuna pizza, an order of oysters, garlic shrimp, beet salad, and the Bibb salad. (Just a side note, they want you to place your starters and entrees at the same time). Everything came out in a reasonable time and was all very good. The Tuna pizza was not at all what I was envisioning but was a pleasant surprise both presentation and taste wise. The shrimp were interesting because they looked like they would be super flavorful, but just felt kind of flat. Both of the salads were delicious, I really enjoyed the Bibb and would highly recommend it. I had the Bluefin and it was really good, the portion size was fair and the fish was extremely fresh. It was far from the best bluefin I've had, but would recommend it nonetheless. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well and overall I would say we had a great time. It was a bit pricey, but it's Spring Lake so that was baked into the cake. Will visit again, and this time I'll remember to order the lobster roll.

Then we had to try the famous tuna pizza, and wow! I get the hype now. It was the perfect combo of crunchy, creamy, and salty and I'll be dreaming about it for days to come! The garlic shrimp was delicious and had a savory juice, something you'd find in a Spanish tapas restaurant which was perfect for bread dipping. The spaghetti with clams was a classic but elevated dish and came with a generous portion. We tried the ahi tuna lo mein from their specials and that was a fun addition. It doesn't taste greasy so don't expect takeout quality. Their sushi was seriously impressive and some of the best I've had in NJ. We got the kamikaze roll, ninja roll, and chef's nigiri. Totally fresh and easy to eat. Even the mocktails were next level. We tried the Heat Wave and Chicha Sour. Both so unique and had us feeling refreshed after, not sluggish. Of course we ended with dessert. The banana bread pudding made in-house was a huge treat. So delectable and moist. The lemon sorbet was a great way to cleanse our palate and was very refreshing. This place is where high-quality meets creative! Even the ambiance reflects their sustainable beliefs. They have a beautiful coastal inspired design in a minimalist way, using lots of natural textures in the designs. The service was fantastic and attentive.
