Guys it's lame. There are so many unique places to get drinks in Fort Collins, and this is giving overpriced hotel lounge to the max. Also, a white guy on a piano is not jazz. If you think middle class people are poor, and you hate community and fun, you'll love it. read more

Old Town was packed for the Holiday Lighting Ceremony, so we decided to get out of the crowds and head to the roof of The Elizabeth Hotel. It was unsurprisingly busy, but we were able to snag a drink far sooner than expected (perfectly balanced Espresso Martini for me - not too sweet, but not bitter) and made it outside to the chilly balcony as people moved inside to escape the cold. The lights went on and we were graced with the most beautiful view of the downtown in the evening that I have ever seen, while sipping a fantastic cocktail. It's not cheap, but also not over-the-top for the quality of drink you get. The food up here is limited, but they offer a small cheese tray, and some fancy small bar-bites if you're looking for a light snack. I'm always looking forward to their ever-changing seasonal cocktail list! read more

We have always loved this bar. Elegant, sophisticated, memorable. Sunset Lounge is a special occasion fixture in a lovely hotel with stunning add-ones in Magic Rat and Emporium. Must visit. We immediately noticed the change in furniture and decor on our most recent visit. Very art deco; plush lounge chairs, gold and mauve tones. Not really sure what's been happening the last couple of months but the changes Im seeing are concerning. Been coming to this bar for almost a year and Ive loved the staff and bartenders. They all really seemed to know their stuff and were really great at their jobs. the experiences Ive had were fun and extremely satisfying. The last couple of months there seem to be a bunch of new staff who have no idea what they are doing. They're letting an underage person work they bar alone, which id be all for if they only seemed to know what they were doing but they dont. The staff doesnt know the drinks or alcohols, they don't know the menu, and they seemed to be overwhelmed on their busy days. Then i come in on slow days and see some staff who ive known to do a great job still working, just not on the days they're probably needed. Id love to keep coming on the fun weekend days, but not if i can't get drinks well-made or good service. read more

Ordered the Stir it up drink and it was a delicious and beautiful drink. My colleague and I came as we were told the sunsets are beautiful with the mountains in the background. Hidden atop of the Elizabeth hotel, we found this place by just walking by and said "Ooh look at that rooftop patio, that looks nice!" The ambiance was sophisticated and very relaxing. Took my wife to high tea, so this review is on that. Service was top-notch, view was spectacular, tea was phenomenal. The finger food was good but it was like dessert on top of dessert on top of dessert. I was hoping for (and expecting) more sandwiches and savory treats. Awesome view, but even better the bar tenders. The view is Fantastic, but sit at the bar! You can go outside for the view on the terrace but for the rest of the night, at the bar is the place to be. Order your favorite cocktail, and after that one, the outstanding mixologist's will come up with phenomenal alternatives for your tastes. I started with a Hemingway daiquiri and after that just went with the tenders suggestions. Best decisions I made all night. This place is phenomenal you can't go wrong. I spent a couple of pleasant hours this afternoon at the Sunset Lounge atop the Elizabeth Hotel in downtown Fort Collins for "High Tea" (more accurately an Afternoon Tea). To my knowledge this is the only traditional style Tea service in Fort Collins, and I would definitely recommend it. The views from the top of the hotel were excellent and there was a delightful piano player who entertained throughout the afternoon. While some of the offerings were a bit unconventional for this type of tea, everything was very good. The scone course had two types of scones, an Earl Gray scone and a cranberry scone served with lemon-thyme butter and an excellent peach-rhubarb jam made by the hotel chefs. I didn't even miss the clotted cream . The savory course was the most different. It consisted of a traditional egg salad sandwich served on a rather thick house made marble rye bread, a caprese salad with balsamic reduction "bite", a zucchini round with cream cheese with herbs, and a roasted vegetable bite. While all these items could have been seasoned better, they were very good. The sweet course had a strawberry cream macaron, a yellow cupcake with chocolate frosting and a delightful panna cotta bite which was excellent and so different for an afternoon tea. The servers were friendly and efficient and kept my teacup filled throughout the afternoon. read more

Came here after checking out a couple other places in Fort Collins. We were dressed more casual, so we were a little nervous stepping in to this rooftop lounge. Fancier setting but everyone here had a mix of casual and fancy dress. Definitely glad we stopped in. Although we arrived 15 minutes before close, everyone hung out way after without being rushed out. Bartenders were nice, drinks were strong and views of the town were great! You have to go through the Magic Rat to get here. There was no wait which was nice. I recommend the Sunset Martini or The Piano Has Been Drinking. Not sure if it's still called The Piano Has Been Drinking as I remember it having another name, but it has the same ingredients. Worth a visit! read more

Never been so rudely treated by a staff. Shockingly condescending. We were there to celebrate with our daughter, her new fiancé , and his family. Our daughter, 23, forgot to bring her drivers license but did have an old expired ID. The staff actually told us that they would normally ask us to leave the premises but, for the sake of their revenue, they would permit us to stay. 45 minutes prior to the published closing time they abruptly announced they were closing and asked us to leave. Had a wonderful time at Sunset Lounge for afternoon tea. The service was absolutely wonderful, as was the music, the tea, and the food. The views are fabulous too! We will definitely be back. There were several different options for tea and you could try different ones if you wanted to. There was so much food we needed boxes so we have some snacks for later too! The tea tray included egg salad sandwiches, a goat cheese tart, crab cakes, and a smoked salmon savory treat. There were two types of scones, lemon and vanilla poppyseed, and then desserts as well, including an orange chocolate macaron, shortbread, and more! read more

Been here a few times recently and had good experiences once upstairs. But holy cow what is wrong with the people downstairs guarding the elevator? They are straight-up unpleasant, which is highly unusual for Fort Collins. I understand that the bar is small, and has a terrible layout that prevents comfortable group seating, but there's no need to be rude about telling people there's a list and a wait time. Once our group was assembled, with just one person completing payment at the magic rat bar about 15 feet away, we were told no we could not go up until our entire party was present - even though it was obvious that we were definitely all there. That evening a fight broke out near us among a larger group, and the staff and management did nothing to curtail the violence. About 10 minutes after the two fighting guys left, they came back in! So while your group may be refused entry for being a few feet apart - feel free to get violent and scare the rest of the bar and be welcomed back to your seat. Probably the fanciest venue in town. But about a 1 out of 10 when it comes to lucid management of the bar. read more

Can't recommend this spot. Hotel staff directed us there...very stark & bright, not a cozy atmosphere. The place was freezing cold and i had to leave my coat on. Staff were friendly, but $14 for a very small pour of very mediocre wine was pretty disappointing. View was nice, but the rest was lacking! read more

The view and atmosphere is great. But the drinks were boring, weak, and bland, and there is virtually no food to nosh on. We tried a few things from the limited menu and were very underwhelmed. Once they fix the menu, I think this will be a great happy hour spot. read more

Finally went back to the Sunset Lounge last Saturday, Sep 1. Hadn't been back since soon after they opened because hubby says the seating is too uncomfortable. I have to agree to some extent, not sure what the deal is with the really deep couches. Maybe some big pillows might help but it is a bit odd. Otherwise, the place has a very nice, comfortable feel, great service and good drinks. Food options are really limited, especially in the gluten free department and desserts which is what I would tend to go there for (this and funky couches responsible for the 4 instead of 5 stars). Anyway, I wanted to go hear Mark and gang since it had been a while. They were fabulous. I've been following Mark Sloniker for years so have to go track him down every so often. He and the 3 guys with him that night were better than ever. The sound was so rich and full. Really enjoyed it. read more

We have tried to go three times. The wait was at least 45 minutes each time which is exciting for them! But, for the customer who has to stand in the very small hallway and wait because they will not text or call you when a table is available it is super disappointing. Service was extremely slow and even for just a Tuesday evening, we were very disappointed. We had to wait 20 min just for a drink. Only one server per the entire floor(inside and out) and only one Bartender. More help is needed for sure! Also- the outside railing is right at your eye level when sitting down, so it blocks your views of the mountains. So sad. read more

The Sunset lounge is a great place to enjoy cocktails, and their Sunset Martini may be one of the best and most unique martini's I ever had. The views of Fort Collins are great (especially for sunset), and the atmosphere is very comfortable and swanky (lots of upholstered chairs or love seats). There is often live jazz as well. But the prices are high, and reservations are highly recommended read more

Such a new and beautiful place to have awesome drinks with a great wine list. However, we were seated outside after a long wait and it was so hot even at 9 pm. The inside was not busy at all so we found a small couch for the two of us and waited. About 15 minutes later a waitress asked if the hostess seated us here and we said no and asked her if we should speak to the hostess which suddenly became our job. The staff made us feel uncomfortable and we left after one drink, even though the jazz band was great, drinks were yummy and the atmosphere perfect. It was our 25th anniversary and we wanted something special, not bad service and being chastised. I travel a ton for work and I've realized it all comes down to the quality of service . A bar at the Doubletree in Lawrence, KS, will rock your world with great service and mediocre food and drinks. I hope this place can change their work culture to a more positive atmosphere because Fort Collins has so many other awesome and friendly places. read more
