When we spoke on the phone, I was impressed with Peggy's ideas for a simple grazing meal of lettuce wraps, Caprese skewers, fruit and dip, brie in bite sized phylo cups, open faced pork tenderloin sliders, and shortbread cookies. I asked her the price and she said, "It will be about $100 or so, plus $25 per hour service fee." I thought the final bill would be about $200, or $20 per person, which seemed about right for a light grazing meal. The food was all delicious - no doubt. Peggy set up and cleaned up and was with us for about two hours. Imagine my surprise when Peggy handed me a bill for $1185.00. That's right - - - one thousand one hundred and eight five dollars for a light snack for 10 girls. I thought she made a mistake and asked her about it. She said the cost was $100 PER PERSON. I am very certain she never said this on the phone, and I would never have used her if I knew that were the price. My mistake was not insisting on getting her bid in writing. While the food was tasty, the whole experience was ruined because of he unreasonable price.

All of them were very yummy, but the hanger steak and chopped salads were the stars of the show. Inside the Peninsula Room, there was plenty of room for dining and dancing. Everyone was given the cherry pecan salad to start, and it was amazing. The wedding meal options were Grilled Whole Filet Mignon with Red Wine Reduction, Pan Roasted Slow Cooked Chicken Breast with Morel Chicken Jus, and Herb Crusted Whitefish with Citrus Vinaigrette. I had a taste of all of them, while they were all very good, the filet mignon was outstanding. The reception lasted until midnight. Around 10pm, pizzas were brought over from Jolly Pumpkin brewery next door, which was a much-appreciated tasty treat after a long night of enjoying the open bar. Service was outstanding. There was a server named Andrew who was extremely helpful and attentive. I didn't catch the bartender's name, but she was great too. Their website allowed us to check each available unit. We chose the unit and reserved two days. Medical issue arose, and we needed to delay the trip by a couple of weeks. Since the unit would be available, they seamlessly moved the reservation. We then added a 3rd night. The unit was clean, with a wonderful view from the balcony. Their instructions for getting new towels were clear and easy to follow. There are laundry facilities on site. We plan to return, so that says it all. Management company team were all professional and friendly. Very few people post positive reviews on Yelp, but my suggestion is to focus on the reviews from THIS decade.

Meaning, night 1 we slept with an unlocked hotel door. Night two, once discovered, I barricaded at night for peace of mind. Sure, it's Northern Michigan - but still. They fixed it our last day - to their position, they were (I presume) unaware they provide us a room without a properly locking door. Hotel doors that lock..a cleaned kitchen - basics. Yes? Minimal expectations for a Inn at any price. I am a business owner myself and felt/feel that this type of experience must be handled professionally - even if unintentional. I would refund the stay if I gave a damn about consumer experience. At least 50% back the nights they slept without a locking door in the room? Buy them a meal for the gross pans in their kitchen? They reluctantly offered us $100 (I paid $800) and 10% off our NEXT stay after I asked if they were doing anything for us. Next stay? ‍ Customer service is dead! He arranged two Skype calls to really understand our personalities and what we wanted from him and was in constant contact throughout the lead up to our big day. During the wedding he was excellent with the guests but also went above and beyond with my wife and I. He pretty much waited on us hand and foot, getting us food and drinks when we were getting our pictures done and constantly checking in to see if there was anything we needed.
