Honestly view is amazing! The vibe is great!! They have music playing on some nights I assumed - my husband and I went Saturday night and they had a band outside. The food I wasn't to impressed with it - we had fish and chips and also fried clams maybe it's because what we chose it was our first time there - but the food was very plain and the fried clams were to fried. The beer was really good ! It was Brooklyn brewery. I would recommend for the views, food not sure maybe we need to take a trip again try something different. read more

Absolutely delicious seafood in a stunning setting! THEY ARE ONLY OPEN FOR SPRING AND SUMMER! We were brought here by a friend last year and visited today on our own for only the second time. Both meals were phenomenal due to the delicious food and the beautiful seaside setting. The perfect time to visit this restaurant is on a beautiful summer day with mild weather and gentle sea breezes. You are sitting on a dock right on the Long Island Sound. Drive through the Norwalk Marina, passing huge yachts, yacht companies, and fishing shops to get here. My favorite dish is the fish taco, which comes with fries. I have also tried the clam chowder, the fish and chips, and the lobster roll. I have yet to be disappointed by the food. The service was attentive and polite. Shrimp and pasta well prepared but under-seasoned. Music was good but way too loud for a restaurant. It was so loud the waiter could hardly hear our order. Nice location. Server was very nice. They have a hand held unit for credit cards but added a 20% gratuity to the bill without displaying a screen showing the added gratuity, it just showed the split amount, it didn't immediately register to me that they had added a 20% tip. The person doing this was not our server. The unit was handed back to me at the gratuity screen and I chose 20% and signed it. The total of $163 didn't look right to me. It wasn't. It resulted in a $50 tip on a $113 meal. This double tip was apparently corrected as I was actually charged just the 20% tip rather than what was effectively 45%. read more

There was a tent right next to us which had 15 open tables, but the hostess insisted she couldn't sit us there because of reservations coming up in the next half hour. I would have given Sunset 5 stars except for my encounter with their "Clam Chowder" - or more accurately, "Essence of Clam Chowder". If there were clams in the clam chowder, they were well hidden. This is a seafood restaurant and you would expect some adherence to what the menu states is "Clam Chowder". This is in reality "Vegan Clam Chowder", or "Clam Chowder for People Who Don't Like Clams". Makes you think there should be a "Truth in Labelling Act" for restaurants. Now let me be clear - I had the Steamers and they were great. My friends' meals were very good as well. Steamers are messy - you have to use your hands to open and eat them. After eating the Steamers I asked for a Towlette - you know, a lemon scented wipe in a foil packet. No luck there. You would think a seafood restaurant would have wipes. I expect 99.9% of folks who go here couldn't care less about these issues. You need to call at least two weeks ahead to get a reservation, so Sunset is incredibly popular and really deservedly so for the location and most of the seafood served here. We ate outside with live music, which was nice and lively. Overall Sunset is one of the few really successful seafood restaurants on the water worth going to for the food and ambience. I would go again but not for the "Clam Chowder". read more

The food out of this world. The seafood is so fresh I had the fried calamari and then I had the really wonderful lobster roll and then somebody else in my party had the fish and chips and they loved it and then somebody had the lobster eggs benedict. The service top notch they are very nice and kind there and very quick. Beautiful scenery it's outside you get to see the harbor and all these different boats. And they have a nice bar area. They do breakfast I think during the week and they do brunch I think everyday I'm not sure. And make a reservation on OpenTable especially if it's a weekend reservation is needed. read more

After 15 minutes, we were told that it would be another 20 minutes wait. At that point, we left, never to return. This place does not honor its reservations! Very poorly managed. read more

It was a weekend so incredibly busy and yet applause to Sunset Grille, food came out at a pretty good pace and good solid food. We had a number of appetizers, raw tuna, calamari and the fried artichokes. All worth ordering. I loved the clams in my spicy linguini with clams. Nice and fat and juicy. We used to come years ago but stopped because of the inconsistency of certain dishes and the crowds. My husband and daughter went a few weeks ago and said the food was amazing so we went again as a family of 5. The ambience is lovely and they have expanded the terrace and have a covered area now. I ordered the seafood pasta special in Diablo . Wow! It was a lot of seafood! But, by the time I cleaned the enormous Dungeness crab, my hands were covered in sauce. No wet wipes, so I had to go wash my hands in the restroom. Returning to the table I noticed everyone else was practically done with their entrée. Finally I was about to start my meal! Unf Diablo sauce had no flavor, no kick. My food was cold and I was done. My daughter ordered the same dish and gave up trying to clean the crab since it was really messy and she had shell fragments in her dish. She said it wasn't very good and basically hardly put a dent in her meal. What a waste and a huge mess. Chef, if your reading this you need to rethink this dish. We then ordered desert which was not good. They buy the deserts from a vendor frozen. The flourless chocolate cake was stale and dry. The chocolate covered ice-cream had that waxy, chocolate coating which everyone scraped off. The scallops I was told were good as well as the whole snapper. Service was good. read more

Where do you take two daughters, 6 grandchildren, and a son in law to dinner while in Norwalk CT? We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to the beach and they were able to accommodate us on a short notice. I ordered the swordfish dinner, the rest ordered different dishes: lobster roll, a burger, fish and chips, lobster salad; etc. The swordfish was delicious, and done exactly as I like it... My son in law(an elite yelper" himself, will write about his lobster roll...and my wife will write about her lobster salad. What you'll hear is that the food is delicious; however, don't come hungry... the portions are small and will not satisfy most of us. read more

I've wanted to try this place for quite awhile now. Finally got the opportunity last night! It was a beautiful evening, so it was perfect for eating outdoors. There's usually live music here which I really like, and it's right on the water. So it's a great setting -even if it is located in the back corner of a marina parking lot. It was 9:05pm when we arrived- kinda late for dinner, but it said they were open til 10pm on Yelp, so we gave it a shot. As the hostess seated us, she informed us that they typically close their kitchen at 9pm, but that they'd serve us. So we decided to order light and not keep them late with a complicated order. They were at about half capacity with no one looking in a hurry to leave. Like I said, beautiful night and live music. We ordered their pulled pork sliders and an order of chips and salsa. The chips were homemade, as was the salsa, and it was good! The pork sliders were the perfect size, well filled, great flavor, with tangy bbq sauce. It was just right for a quick bite and we were very pleased with the service as well. We were thankful they didn't turn us away. My husband has been there before and recommends their fish and chips and calamari. We'll definitely return to try more of their menu and enjoy some live music on another beautiful Fall night. read more

Stopped by today with my wife for a late lunch. This place is in a unique location. It sits right in the marina over seeing the water. The food and drinks and done very well. The servers are very attentive and are always asking if Everything is ok. Today they had music and the guitarist was amazing. We had the mussels and calamari and it was excellent. The rain was coming so we couldn't enjoy the rest of the afternoon outside but if your looking for great food and a heat view this is the place to visit in Norwalk. Now for the negatives; lousy cocktails, extremely poor service and sub-par cooked food. The salmon entree was drenched in a ginger sauce and this is most likely to cover up the minuscule, extremely thin piece of salmon. The flavor was bland at best and for $33 it was robbery. If you feel the need to come here, just order a beer on the deck, hang out and look at the view. Save yourself some time and money and eat someplace else. read more

And, staying afloat is one of the few good things about this place that is surrounded by water on three sides. We arrived one very hot Saturday afternoon on a whim and sat inside where the A/C was comfortable. Had a confident, friendly waitress, Michelle, who took our order. This review is after six meals here. The setting in the harbor is perfect for the sunset as the name suggests. However, nearly everything needs to be updated to local standards of quality for the menu and establishment. The decor is tired and hacked together plastic outdoor furniture. The giant propane tank with "no smoking " signs plastered on it greet you next to a hobbled strange beer garden. A broken down old bar sitting in the parking lot next to the propane tank. Come on - spend some money and clean the place up. With regard to food, simply over priced for super basic bar food. We ordered a blackened grilled Caesar salad ($26). Over dressed but ok. BBQ plate of ribs , chicken and shrimp. The ribs were inedible. The spline on the ribs had been butchered wrong and even with a steak knife I could not separate the ribs from each other. Plus the ribs were undercooked to be rubbery. Two shrimp and two slices of chicken breast. A weak interpretation of BBQ. An app of calamari was ok. Finally the buttered lobster roll - texture of lobster was off some pieces strangely mushy. The use of plastic is strange. Plastic disposable water cups but when we ordered sparkling water a glass wine glass was used. Why the use of plastic ? I really wish this neighborhood restaurant would step it up and truly realize the potential of this location with a proper chef and menu. read more
