Lyla's handled the evening with grace and consistency. I ordered the rack of lamb, and it was beautifully prepared. The meat was tender with a warm pink center and a well developed crust. The sauce complemented the lamb without overwhelming it, and the risotto beneath was creamy and comforting with just the right texture. The asparagus added freshness that balanced the richness of the plate. It felt thoughtful and satisfying without trying too hard. She ordered the miso salmon, which was equally enjoyable. The glaze brought a gentle sweetness and depth of flavor while still allowing the salmon itself to shine. The fish was moist and flaky, and the overall dish felt clean and well composed. Lyla's is a newly opened, family-run restaurant and a nice addition to the neighborhood. The space is small so reservations are recommended, especially as more people discover it. There's a bar area, and the dining room is cozy and table linens elevated the ambiance. Lychee Luxe cocktail was almost perfect. A touch more vodka would have made it amazing. The entrées were good but not quite five-star. The lamb chops came slightly under my requested medium. The home made pasta texture of the pappardelle bolognese was amazing but the meat ragu was average. The seafood linguine could have used a bit more spice to match its description and liven up the dish. I do appreciate the well matched price and generous portion size. Overall, it was a solid meal with a lot of potential. The service was excellent, and with some fine-tuning in the kitchen, this place could really shine. I'd definitely would return in a few months and try other dishes. read more

Disappointing in every way - although the one appetizer was quite good....However, not a true authentic Italian experience - food was mediocre at best, misrepresented, and one entree was very small while the other was massive, tough - a described "marinated pork chop for 48 hours to ensure it is wonderfully tender and flavorful." Instead, the "pork chop" was a large hunk of ham around a center bone covered in some non-descript dark sauce - that overwhelmed the entire plate, very tough to cut or chew, ham not pork chop flavor, pink appearance and kind of gross.. We left most of it behind after a few bites. High expectations due to the 4.8 stars which makes me wonder..... Not to mention the bill was outrageous for 2 people - disappointing in every way. Hopefully, a one off experience but not a place I will visit again. read more

This restaurant is an absolute standout. Family owned and operated, the ambiance and decor is beautiful and elevated, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and most importantly the food is INCREDIBLE. We visited the restaurant for my dad's birthday and it was so special. It does tend to get busy during usual high traffic times (weekends, dinner time) so I highly recommend making a reservation, but they do have bar seating as well. It's so hard to find a place with quality food, ambiance and vibe but this is truly the spot (and I don't say this lightly as a New Yorker!) incredible authentic Italian and couldn't recommend it enough. read more

The urge not to share this place was strong, dear readers. Pure self-preservation, really, because I'd love to keep snagging a table without a fight. But that would be wrong, because everyone deserves to know about the new gem on Hope Street. And honestly, I want these kids with a dream to make it. There are two entrances. The door on the right leads to a classic bar with a handful of tables. Lively , warm, and comfortingly old-school. The door on the left opens into a charming dining room: white linens, intimate twos and fours, and one larger table in the corner. You know the one. The Sinatra table. That was ours. We were supposed to be five, but one person bowed out at the last minute. His loss, the dummy. From start to finish, the evening was perfection. The service, the care, the pacing. The cocktails were spot-on (mean martinis, both sweet and savory). The wine list had smart options at every price point. We settled on a friendly Brunello, perfect for a chilly night. Starters * Crispy artichokes: two plump, marinated hearts, cloaked in airy, golden batter and set over a creamy sauce, with lightly dressed arugula to brighten the plate. * Fritti misto: a yummy pile of tempura-light calamari, zucchini and eggplant slices, and pepper rings. We were practically fighting over the last crumbs. Mains Portions were generous and everything was beautifully executed. * Linguine with clams: tender pasta in a deeply flavorful seafood brothy sauce. * Veal: four perfectly tender, sautéed cutlets with delicately delicious pureed potatoes. * Alfredo with a choice of chicken: I opted for a crispy cutlet crowned with a buttery mound of ribbons. * Ribeye: the undisputed star among our the choices, cooked exactly right, served with perfectly roasted potatoes, and impossible not to share bites of. Called and asked if they had a round table for 7, was told yes. We get there and they took it upon themselves to put us at a long table. The people at one end couldn't hear the people at the other end talk, which is why we asked for a round table. The calamari and fried veggie appetizer was a very small amount. I ordered seafood with linguine, I asked if it was spicy and was told no, when it came to the table it had a bad smell and was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I asked for coffee, they don't have coffee, only cappuccino or espresso. Left very unhappy and won't return or recommend to anyone. read more
