Shrimp ceviche

Very nice place to eat, good views, the food is great and very nice owners. My picky eater son had a cheeseburger and he loved it. I highly recommend the place.

Epic sunset

We enjoyed an amazing sunset cruise with the owner. Homemade ceviche, chicken skewers and breaded shrimp wrapped in bacon! Absolutely delicious! The sail was gorgeous and the best experience I have had in Isla. We will be back next time for another cruise and dinner!

We arrived here by accident, and it turned out to be our good fortune. Sunset Grill, like so many restaurants on the island, sits within feet of the clear blue water. In fact, this place has seating on the sand, if you choose, and a pier for those Kodak moments. We chose to sit at a table inside, just beyond the white sand. Though the skies had already darkened, the landscaping and lighting here still made me feel like I was on the set of 'Fantasy Island,' a cheesy (but oh so cool) drama that ran between the late 70s and mid-80s. Though there were no white-suit-sporting 'Mr. Roarke' or 'Tattoo,' our service was spot on. (She was either the owner or manager.) We were pretty much left to enjoy each other's company and the view until just the time we wanted something. Nice. The food here is not your typical island fare. Sure, they use local seafood in the most creative of ways, but not all of it is 'Mexican' in the true sense. It's eclectic and fun. Adventurous. Delicious. Everything seemed to have been prepared precisely and with loving hands. And the presentation was obviously well-rehearsed. (See my photos.) Sunset Grill is not an every-night joint while you're here, because sometimes you just need to eat greasy tacos at an alley dive. But the food here is delicious. The service impeccable. And the view is just wonderful -- day or night. An outstanding upscale place to show off your taste. You're welcome.

Cruise ended with a perfect sunset

Ok first I would like to start by saying that we at here a few days before our our 10th anniversary and it was our second time eating here. Once last year and then a few days before the anniversary. Last year the dinner was one of the best dinners we had during that vacation. The fish oma is incredible. We liked it so much that we went back to try again. It was just as remembered. Quite clean friendly and GREAT FOOD!!! This time we had the Mexican style prawns. There were perfect. The shrimp was fresh and the sauce was amazing. We enjoyed it so much this time that we booked a sunset cruise with the owner and a nice romantic dinner afterwards. He was very attentive to what I was looking for and even offered a saxophonist to come play for us. It was a great night. Dinner that night was fish oma again and lobster thermador. A++++ Thank you for a memorable anniversary!!!!

Sunset Grill was one of our best dinners that we had in Isla Mujeres. Upon arriving we were greeted and sat at a table with a great view of the water and the sunset. Sunset that night was so beautiful! For dinner we had the Blackened Fish Filet with mashed potatoes and a small salad and the Isla Paella loaded with fresh seafood over saffron rice. Excellent all the way. We also had a few margaritas here that were some of the best on the island. Service was great too. Our server was the one that greeted us upon entering and took care of us until it was time for us to leave.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, and a perfect place to have a wedding! Felipe took care of everything for us down to the flowers, decorations, and cake.

We were lucky enough to spend Christmas dinner at the Sunset Grill. Whether it be the steak, tuna, lobster or the octopus, our family all agreed it was the best meal, service and ambiance we had experienced on the island all week!!! Thank you so much to Felipe the owner, who personally greeted us and made us feel so welcome. We will be back on the island again soon and you can bet we'll be heading to the Sunset Grill for a special dinner.

We found this hidden gem on Yelp our last night in Isla and I wish we would've found it earlier. This is a must visit restaurant every time we come to the island. Make sure to go just as the sun is setting and take pictures out on the deck, it is magical! The service and quality of food was impeccable. The owners were lovely people and answered our every question. You must try both the lobster and the shrimp quesadilla, it is MELT in your mouth goodness!! Everyone's dish at the table was fantastic. The hubs got the OMA fish with a dill sauce that was slow clap worthy. My tenderloin was cooked to perfection and the mashed taters that accompanied it were spot on. Thank you Sunset Grill for making our last dinner a special one, until next time.

Paella...took 5mins to land on the table. Dry...no rich saffron sauce stewing in the bottom. Just DRY

Honestly, I would have loved to dine there every night we stayed in Isla but we had already made plans for other venues.

She was walking us a little towards the back, but since it was my first time to Isla, I wanted to people-watch, so I asked about a table up front. As soon as we headed over, I saw why she passed it - it was right next to the saxophone player! Thank goodness his volume level was perfect! Just loud enough to be heard over the crowds walking down the 'lane' out front and the restaurant diners' chatting. But not so loud that we 3 couldn't chat. We loved it! Now these two can EAT - and love to try everything on the menu, whereas I tend to eat smaller portions. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were fantastic - huge pieces of shrimp, so good! The lobster mac n cheese is so good, I would have loved to bring a big container of it home with me! The restaurant is very busy but very clean and tables are well organized for maneuvering a quick trip to the restroom before leaving. Our server, Maylen was attentive and pleasant. The bar area, facing the street, looked like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it next time!

And the saxophone player walked up to them played for them. That looked pretty nice. We sat next to the bar and there were some obnoxious gringos at the bar while we were there... which is common on the north side of the island.

SO dissapointed…read more First: the waiter was picking his nose openly......... The acai bowl i got was supposed to have banana and mango and passionfruit. Turns out it was mixed in the acai (i think?) never heard if that. It definitely didnt taste like any of those fruits. The fruits i added.. well... the peach slices never made it to the bowl... the prunes were BITTER .. (my thing is do t offer it if its not ripe?!) and the raspberries were out of the freezer. But worst: the acai itself was icy/choppy and bad.. i didnt even finish it But the latte.. i asked the waiter less milk. He brought it full milk.. but it wasnt even espresso! It was SO bad i could not have more than two sips. I should have returned it but its not my style. Ugh. And the waiter wasnt even nice. None of that mexican hospitality... just cold and not smiling and he dissapeared. There were like 7 staff members and two clients... no one smiled... well one woman did but all the others i always said gracias with a smile and nothing. It was bad bad bad. Oh and no parking,

I ordered the passion açaí bowl and got something different but it was still delicious. The huevos rancheros and iced oatmilk latte were perfect. Honestly the only complaint is that some of the other American tourists were absolutely insufferable - but the staff were consummate professionals and extremely polite. I would not have had so much patience!
