    Zoomies Dog Boarding & Daycare

I set up a new account with Zoomies for a one-day daycare session for my Australian Cattle Dog…read more However, the owner, Mary Jane, declined my request to keep my dog separate from other dogs. While my dog loves people, she tends to avoid other dogs due to anxiety, which can lead to her biting them. I find it unreasonable for the owner to require my dog to participate in group play, as she stated. She is not familiar with the temperament of Australian Cattle Dogs. In the past, other boarding facilities have accommodated my request to keep my dog separated from the other dogs, but Mary Jane was unwilling to meet my dog's needs. Mary Jane did not provide me with enough time to find another boarding facility after she declined my request one day before the scheduled daycare session. The receptionist informed me that it was available, but MJ said it was full. Additionally, I asked her to remove my account, and she texted me that she would do so shortly. However, when I checked a few hours later, I found that the account still existed. I texted her, and I still haven't gotten her reply.

I'm warning all current and prospective dog parents to avoid working with the owner Mary Jane, and…read moreDavin the CEO. Both are high strung, worked up, and hostile individuals that really need to not be involved in this company or any front-facing employee requirements. This facility has received over $700 from my dog's visits in the last few months, and my dog has received excellent report cards for his kind and playful behavior. The caretakers Aaron and Curtis are wonderful to him and I, but I think they should begin to look for new jobs, as my recent phone call with Mary Jane and interactions with Gavin have been very intense, gaslighting and bullying. I was denied daycare last weekend and resubmitted my request because no reason was provided and they typically only have a few dogs on Saturday for daycare. I thought it was an error, as we come every weekend to play for a full Saturday. My second request was sent with a text to doublecheck the accuracy, and a text came back that the facility was booked for boarding dogs. I assumed it was due to ACL Festival, said no problem and booked my dog elsewhere- at Hill Country Pet Resort. Zoomies recommended no other pet daycare locations to me, so I had to start my research from scratch, and this place was down the street from Zoomies, with 4 star Yelp reviews. This is when everything changed. I had never been to HCPR, but upon arriving there I was greeted by a gentleman who took a hit from a bong and had sores all over his mouth. I felt uncomfortable but a sense of duty, and asked to see the facility to find out more of what I could report to city officials. They had kennels filled with piles of excrement at 9am, that the dogs were stepping on and they had no separate pens with mowed grass or turf for them to run around in. I left distraught, said NO THANKS, and drove away immediately. I decided to swing by our regular daycare of Zoomies, which was a few blocks away. I left my dog in the car and walked inside to inquire about any possible cancellations since we last spoke. The employee said he had extra help and that they would be happy to take my little dog because he was easy to handle and the employee seemed to know the situation over at HCPR and made no issue of taking mine in last minute. So as a mom, I was relieved but also wept driving away for the other dogs left behind at HCPR. All went well last Saturday at Zoomies, and all were happy. I even had a nice talk with the employees when I picked my dog up later that day. On Monday, I received a call from the manager of HCPR and shared my feedback with him- he was very supportive of my thoughts and concerns and went to the owners immediately. It was a very bad situation but the manager has a good head on his shoulders and took my criticism respectfully, as it was delivered respectfully but with searing truth. On the other hand, Mary Jane, the owner at Zoomies sent me a banal text this morning asking me to call her. It was written like she was a school principal and I was in trouble. She blamed me for going around her from the start of the call and said she wanted to understand my thinking. Pure ego on fire. I knew she was already upset and said she was at a funeral last weekend, so I could tell this just wasn't going to go well because she was very angry and acting hurt. Mary Jane kept interrupting me and then blamed me for the sins of all others who just show up without a reservation. She told me to stop talking and I had to raise my voice over her to ask her to calm down and reminded her that she's not the only person going through hard things. I asked her repeatedly to please allow me to finish my story because I was coming from a good place, but she kept interrupting and blame shifting. I said again, that I just asked if there were any cancellations with no intention of leaving my dog unless there was a new opening, and did not bring my dog inside with me. I simply wanted to know if there had been any cancellations since we last spoke. She made remarks that I kept putting in requests and didn't respect their final word, she gaslight me and twisted it around on me, insinuating that I was manipulating the situation to my benefit and then she yelled out that I was BANNED from the facility and hung up on me. That outcome was Mary Jane's fault entirely. She had not spoken to the employee yet, either. She just wanted to screw me over and get back at me for some made up slight. I was a loyal customer. I have also left positive 5-star reviews and recommended them on social media and to everyone I know. I am shocked at how much of a hurt and suffering elitist Mary Jane has become within her own operation. She seemed so nice. But things have changed and their personal problems are getting in the way of what could have been a successful business.

This review is only based off of my experience/ first impressions and this business may work amazingly for your dog! Once I found Walk ATX it took me a while to get in contact with someone, called a couple times, left a voicemail, sent a couple emails -to no avail! Sent a dm on insta as a last resort and finally got in contact with someone! Yay! Erika helped me set up my account and went over daycare. Dropped my pup off for his first day! First impressions matter to me and as someone who is nervous I would have loved to see them greet my dog. Instead the woman at the front ( not sure her name - mullet - immediately went into a quick " take off the leash. What's his name? You'll get an update at 11" And then I watched her usher him straight to the backyard. No saying hi to the dog, no convo with me, no easing his nerves, no questions about him, no petting him, no introductions, nothing. I didn't love that, especially since it was our first time and it made me much more nervous to drop him off there. Around 11:00 I started to look for updates, none. Tried to call 3 times, no answer. Again this is his first day so not hearing anything on how he was doing and getting no photos - nerves then rose to an all time high. People are allowed to have bad days so will update this after a few more times. Just know the first day is not as informative or warm may not be as warm as you'd expect.

It is difficult to find a doggy boarding/day care that provides such well rounded, holistic approach to pet care. We have used Walk ATX for boarding, day camp with pick up and drop off included, and for in home check ins with walks. As well as their add-ons like baths and fun photoshoots. Mo is a party animal - we are constantly training, working with him and we fill all of his needs. Yet he is an energetic, happy 2.5yo rescue from Austin Pets Alive. He is a foster win actually. He's always soooo excited when he realizes he's about to get dropped off at Walk ATX and he's welcomed with big smiles and a huge "Hi Mo!!!!!" by the passionate and hard working staff. Walk ATX does pack walks, outdoor playtime in their yard with staff assigned to different groups of dogs. I love that there's constant supervision and a structured day. Including rest/down time, which is just as important as to not overstimulate the doggos. It seems as if Walk ATX has only gotten better over the years. They've incorporated training, special add-ons, and cool adventures. Last time Mo stayed with them while we were in Costa Rica, Britton and the team were super attentive (Mo was on limited activity for the first few days per our vet), and even called to give an update, in addition to their daily updates via email and on their app "Time to Pet". I know Mo is cared for and looked after by a group of caring animal lovers.

I love the daily photos I get when Marcia takes my dog on a walk or a play date with other dogs. She has such great practical advice (training, recommendations for boarding, etc.) & works with Dolly on obedience, socialization & desensitization, which I'm so thankful for since she's a puppy. Ever since meeting Marcia, I no longer think twice about having her come to my place & take Dolly on walks. Even though I'm home more now, I can't even deprive Dolly of seeing Marcia- she has that much fun. Other ways she goes above & beyond: wiping off their paws if they're muddy, brushing their fur (a godsend for doodles), giving them water on hot days, positive reenforcement of good behavior, high quality daily photos & progress reports, cleaning up any potty accidents (so helpful for young puppies who get overly excited), follows strict COVID-19 sanitizing protocols, and she even will bring a package that's been delivered inside off your front stoop!! I thought because I had a reservation that meant I had a reservation... apparently not. I was supposed to call a day in advance to confirm my reservation but since I had not done this my reservation was cancelled. Buoy is a yellow lab, very socialized, but I thought SXSW might be a little too much for him. Having discovered in a very unpleasant manner that we had no place to leave Buoy I began calling all of the pet sitters that I could find to sit with him at the hotel. Everyone was booked solidly due to the spring break. One of the pet sitters I called was Anne at Ace Pet Care. She patiently listened to my situation and explained that she was also booked solidly but asked me to give her 5 minutes to see if there was anything she could do for me. At last, someone was helpful. Anne called back in 6 minutes (but who's counting?) she told me that her brother-in-law was visiting and that he would be glad to sit for Buoy but that he wanted Buoy to be brought to Anne's home. Anne said that if Buoy would get along with her dogs that she would make an exception for us and provide doggy daycare for Buoy. We brought Buoy to meet Tems and Batsi. All the dogs got along great. Her dogs are very socialized too and Cliff is extremely knowledgeable and professional in introducing new dogs to each other. We were immediately impressed. Anne was very accommodating even going so far as to show us around her house. My SO was very pleased to see how clean it is. I was delighted with the size of their huge, fenced backyard. Still, we didn't really know Anne or Cliff and after dropping Buoy off we made plans to drop in unannounced to see how he was doing. The first time we stopped by we interrupted Cliff throwing a Frisbee for the dogs in the yard. This is one of Buoy's favorite games. Both he and Batsi were chasing the Frisbees with Tems running along beside. Anne's brother-in-law invited us in, offered us coffee as we watched the dogs playing. Anne sat with us to answer any questions we had. We wound up staying for an hour talking to her brother-in-law about things to do in Austin, and getting restaurant suggestions for lunch and dinner. Each evening when we picked Buoy up he was pleasantly tired and relaxed. He never needed more than a short walk prior to bed. He had been fed, petted, brushed, given fresh water and plenty of play all day long. Anne's brother-in-law even took him for long walks. Each morning Buoy looked forward to staying with Batsi and Tems and he would get excited as soon as he recognized our route to Ace Pet Care. Both Anne and Cliff are the most customer-service oriented people I have ever met. They went above and beyond anything I could have expected. They clearly love dogs and enjoy caring for them. I have seriously never met a better pet sitter or kinder, nore accommodating people. Buoy had a really great time, was treated like royalty, and I am very happy. Our bad experience with the other doggy daycare turned into a stroke of luck as it led us to Anne and Cliff. I highly recommend Ace Pet Care. I have already made my reservation with them for Buoy next year.

A tad counterintuitive and certainly not focused on customer. They've also stated having a lock box at my house makes me more secure because they no longer hold onto keys.
