I've been here no less than ten times this season and it has become a standby when I'm at Snowshoe. Not only the food is about as good as it can get at Snowshoe, but the staff is awesome. Their chips and salsa are the rage and besides the fish tacos, their other selections have improved in quality. And their margaritas are superb. The new bartender is one of the most experienced at Snowshoe, and therefore the bar is usually packed. A very good experience overall. read more

Avoid at all costs. The food was average, small portioned, and extremely overpriced. I took over an hour to get our food. The waitress was unable to answer a question truthfully when asking about the food. The margaritas had a mountain of salt at the bottom of it. If you have to go here get the quesadillas as that's the only thing you can order to get a decent amount of food. The burrito was decent but for $17 and you only get a small burrito, not worth it. If you like the combo deal of terrible AND expensive, then this is the place for you! Went here yesterday with the fiancé and first off, they told us approx. a 30 minute wait. We went elsewhere and hung out outside in the snow having a beer for 30 minutes, then nobody ever called us, so we went back to check in. There were loads of empty tables inside, just the hostess just forgot to call us. So basically we would never have been notified to come if we hadn't gone back to prompt them to do their job. We got a pork enchilada and Mahi mahi tacos as well as appetizer nachos. The nachos were super bland and obviously someone just glopped some lukewarm white cheese and canned beans over them and put it on a plate and gave it to us. I could have made Better nachos and I don't cook much. Fiancé's enchilada was dry and rubbery and had obviously been sitting out for a while. My mahi mahi tacos were a joke. I asked for corn tortilla (got flour, whatever), the fish itself was lukewarm but when taking a bite, the taco felt cold. At first I was questioning if anyone even cooked this at all. I decided it was the green salsa they put on them that obviously came straight from a refrigerated jar and glopped onto the tacos. I had also ordered a margarita, which I was unable to tell if it even had much tequila at all in it. I think they put a lot of chopped up jalapeños in it to try and mask the fact that there's little to no tequila in it. So I switched to a double whiskey/coke. It also tasted mostly like just coke... whatever. But then we get the bill. I was charged for a "double crown and coke", when firstly, I didn't ask for Crown, asked for whiskey, which in the rest of the civilized world means "well". So then I'm doubly annoyed that I am not sure that I even got double well, but being charged on the check for a double top shelf Crown. So I asked the waitress about this, she claims she talked to the bartender and that it was correct. There is absolutely no way that was a double pour of any sort of fortified spirit. That bartender certainly hasn't been accused of being heavy handed before. So basically I paid $17 for a Coca-Cola. TL;DR: This place is both EXPENSIVE & TERRIBLE food with semi-competent staffing. If that's what you're looking for, then this is the place for you. I would not go back and I wouldn't advise anyone else to even go there for the first time. This place obviously has no interest in catering to any repeat business and their business model is just to prey off of tourists that don't know any better and likely won't be back anyway. read more

Don't bother! Israel makes a great drink, but nothing was available on the menu and what we had wasn't good. Not worth the time and $.

Literally do not eat here and thank me later. My food came out in 5 minutes - red flag #1. Rice and beans were crusty, the Chicken was so dry I felt like i had cottonmouth. So very disappointing, especially because there aren't many options to choose from in the first place on this mountain. Let's get Bar Rescue up in here because the place has potential. We were hesitant to go here due to some of the previous reviews, but really wanted Mexican so gave it a try. So glad we did, it was delicious and service (Alyssa) was great. Some dishes were better than others, but overall really good. It's not your typical Mexican, it's a little more upscale in the food offerings so be open to that and you will not be disappointed! One of the best margaritas I've ever had too! Also I inquired about taco dinner being too large (comes with 3 tacos) and was told we could just order 1 or 2 if I wanted - 2 was plenty and made price so reasonable - nice option! read more

Long wait to be seated (even though there were MANY empty tables-I get it though. they are short staffed). the hostess was rude AF. The server was nice during our brief encounter. food took WAY TOO LONG. I saw the kitchen staff actually reading the menu as they were cooking. Food was ok, however my boyfriend and I got the same taco (Mahi Mahi), and they were made completely different. they did not even look like the same taco. different toppings, etc. When we got the bill, it was ridiculously high. $5 for a small side of (bland) salsa??? almost $70 for 2 combo plates, 1 soda, 1 beer and a side of Salsa. Stopped in for dinner because all the other options were an hour+ wait. We're immediately seated at the bar and drink orders taken promptly. Had to flag the bartender back down to get food orders in, but no biggie she was pretty busy. Ordered guac and chips as a starter - don't bother. Came out incredibly fast, but small portions and relatively bland, very meh. Steak fajitas and steak quesadillas for the main course - fajitas were mediocre at best. Best place to get a good meal on the mountain. Tacos a la carte are a little pricey, but very good. Burritos are the indisputable go-to. Service is usually very reasonably quick (15-20 minutes with a normal crowd). Staff are friendly and quick to help you out and answer questions. Jake and Tyler know their stuff in the kitchen, and food is always seasoned and cooked properly. Consistency is key and Cantina definitely has it down to a science. read more

Before I became vegetarian, I remember this restaurant was great! But now that i don't eat meat, I found there are few options for my meal. I wanted fajitas, and normally there are veggie options at most restaurants, but here I could not get the full fajita, as the beans were pre cooked with meat. So I ended up with peppers, onions and rice.... I then ordered some cheese sticks with habanero aioli, but they were cooked in the same place chicken was cooked so I couldn't really eat them. I thought about getting chips and salsa, but then realized it was $4 per person, not free like most Mexican places. The service was also a bit slow, and the restaurant was so loud I was almost yelling across the table. read more

Surprisingly good food and creative drinks too, great place! 5 stars for the food and fun atmosphere, -1 star because it was a bit pricey. We stopped by for an early meal after skiing and decided to sit at the big curved bar which was warmed by the afternoon sun. Never thought a big ski operator could serve anything decent, but they served one of the better steaks I've had. Glad we split it for two people as it was huge. The bartender kept making various drinks and giving people samples which got a lot of conversation going about which ones were best. Actually they were all very good and unusual. I can barely muster anything good to say about this place. I adjusted my expectations based on reviews but it was so bad. First of all, it is very expensive. $21 for a burrito type of expensive. Second, they were understaffed. We ordered drinks that never came so I canceled them when the food arrived. No apologies, no discounts - server just said "fine, what did you order?" Server never came by to check on us or our food. Chicken tortilla soup had no chicken and the burrito came with gross white rice on the side and flavorless pinto beans. Surprisingly good for being at the top of a mountain! They are not able to take custom orders and do not have vegetarian options but their traditional options were yummy! Three of us had the signature mojoto... Yum. Wild board chili was delicious! Hints of lime and cilantro, All other entrees were thoroughly enjoyed - steak salad, burrito, fajitas. Dessert too was excellent - the chocolate served with the apple filled churros was spicy and delicious. Fried ice cream and sopapillas were also tasty! read more

We love Mexican. What a disappointment. The chips with Queso was good as was the 4848 Margarita . We asked for the steak quesadilla with steak and cheese. It had a lot of onions and peppers and basically no cheese. The Poblano Rellenos were over cooked with burnt coating and nothing much in them. Pork enchiladas were meh... no flavor and dry tortillas. We've been season pass holders at snowshoe for 16 years, and we've tried all the restaurants. I think this was the best lunch we've ever had. I had been here years ago and it took forever. We played it smart and came at about 11:15, so I can't comment on service times others have had. But it's 11:45 and we're happily signing the check. I've been vegan since the early summer, and while I'm really happy to see vegetarian centric reviews, I don't agree that this place doesn't have options. They had some great soup and there is a vegan sandwich on the menu. Our server Dustin and the chef were very accommodating of my request to make a taco version of the eggplant sandwich. My only complaint is lack of free chips and salsa. Free chips and salsa is expected at a Mexican restaurant. read more

Now.....there is absolutely no question that the food here is packaged somewhere in a land far far away. The solid used in place of chicken, seemed like silly putty dyed and spray painted to resemble a meat. Never experienced the highly referenced salsa...can not comment on it.
